What is the proper format for a story?

Recently I've been told that the format I used for my stories isn't good. Can someone tell me what the proper format to a story is? And can people give me example of that?
Wished someone had told me sooner so I wouldn't have wasted countless hours writing stories in a format that was shit.

okay so I went and read the comment chain I think you're talking about. at first i thought it was just a random "this sucks" comment.
i've actually never thought of script vs novel format. i honestly I didn't even notice the format much until it was pointed out.
i think novel format reads better but it's more difficult to pull off. you seem to be seasoned with script format, so you write fine with it. it's not "bad", your stories are still great. it's possible they could be better with the other. you actually do write in a novel format just fine in the "Food for the zebra queen." picture
experiment if you like, then you'll know for sure. :)

Yes you're doing fine, but if you want a option, the most writers I know use Google Doc.
