Gone for a bit

I'll be offline for a while as I buy and move into a new home.

I've been too busy to do anything interesting as a result, but a new house will be superbly awesome. It'll be my first home, and it's pretty big, but I'll still have some roomates as well.

Until RL calms down, there isn't much to report, except that Blender 2.46 lets me make incredibly sexy looking things (PS3 quality! Yay shaders!) as well as continuing to make levels and models for VFighter.

I sure hope I get some time to work on it! It seems everyone is paining for a replacement to MUGEN, and this should be exactly what we are looking for.

If you are curious, go play Odin Sphere on PS2, and then play Star Gladiator on MAME to see what I'm thinking. I want OdinSphere style gameplay with the plasma combo system that Star Gladiator uses, since that covers the gamut of generalized fighting. It works for basic combo and attack moves, and the addition of 'helper' objects (projectiles, other characters, drones, seekers,...

I have completed the first 600 hours of work to do. As it stands, I can animate meshes to the Nth degree, I can use armatures, armature keyframes, mesh keyframes, armature relative mesh keyframes, realtime deformers, Inverse Kinematics, and a variety of other things. And they all work perfectly.

What this means, is a given character can walk, talk, and eat. Not just statically, either. It's realtime, and dynamic (as in you don't have to animate it, it just happens.), and the bulges and stretching look great.

It's freaking awesome. And...

Been working on IGTL::Render and IGTL::GLRender, both work great, I'm actually impressed with it. Next up will be IGTL::Graphics, but first I think I'll either poke wxDrache or make a 2D platforming simplex so I can test networking; networking a 2D platforming game is not different than a 3D one. Or a 3D one with an absurd amount of vore content. ;)

All I got's to do is fill out some spec sheets, and get concept art, and then I'll be flyin' with this 3D game nonsense. The best part is I can make next-gen content and levels all with Blender. w00t.

Death of a loved one

Well, I wish I had happier news, but this particular event had been building up over some amount of time. In truth, I knew he was going to die long before I ever came to terms with it, but after his death a few weeks ago, it never really clicked until this previous week.

Not in the typical IC sense, he's died like that before and come back chompin'. This is a permanent death, and until he comes back this is the end of RP'ing for this player. You know when you love someone, you constantly think about them and want for nothing but them to be happy, you spend time with them, do things you would never do normally just to make sure they still have some glimmer of hope... In the death of a RP character such as this, Raesir had developed OOCly into far more than some 'thing' I pretend to be. He was a true alternate personality, I could switch back and forth with ease, he was as real as it could get. I never always knew what he would do, I felt...

Where did the artist forums go?

Yeah, "Where did the artist forums go?"

I did notice they had been conglomerated into an "Artists Valley", but , when did this happen, and why? For what reason did we make it a more confusing forum?

If it is possible, can I have my thread back? It made searching a breeze, and kept me organized. Which I am going to need. Soon.

Also, it kinda hacks me off. A lot. I'll be really interested to read why this change occured.

Anyways:

Blender Game nonsense is going along interestingly. I'm up to GScript3, which at the moment does:
-Everything Blender Game Engine Does (EBGED!)
-Allows access to mesh, and supports static deformation/editing
-Automatic Run handlers, so the thing is fast and efficient to work with
-TONS of utility it seems to lack (until I add it to Blender itself)
-Armature bone pos-orientation access, iff you have singular verticies, min of 3 per bone
-Add/Del objects (iffy at the moment)
-Some culling
-Shaders
