If you have ever seen an old Warner Brothers' Tweetie and Sylvester cartoon, you have no doubt noticed that, at some point, Sylvester places Tweetie between two slices of bread preparatory to eating him. Very often, the sound track at that point begins playing a particular song- an old one from a 1920s musical- called "A Cup of Coffee, a Sandwich, and You"- not meant to be vorish in the play but with the obvious (to us) implication. WB used this in other cartoons, at almost any scene involving eating. I had the words somewhere but they don't matter, since they refer to a different kind of tete-a-tete.

I only learned the title long after I had noticed its use in cartoons: I was listening to an old music program on a public radio station one day when I heard lyrics to the familiar melody and thus learned the source and the title!

When I heard "Maneater" with Hall and Oates back then in the eighties, I actually was thinking about a woman literally eating the men... Even though it was most probably not meant that way.

Of course, as I have mentioned a lot of times before, we have Toto Coelo's "I eat Cannibals". Which also made me draw a lot of (extremly silly) stories about hot women living in the jungle eating cannibals.


Generally, there are a lot of songs with "eating someone" in the lyrics, but they are not really about eating, but "just" about regular sex. Must admit I have felt swindled several times..

Besides the obvious Maneater, as mentioned by almost everyone, I also was reminded of vore by a song by Ilse de Lange, a Dutch singer.
