How common is our fetish?

Postby apples323 » Sat Sep 08, 2012 1:49 pm

I thought about this as I was reading some threads in general here. If you're anything like me (and I'm sure you are) you don't want the whole world knowing about your vore fetish. I've only ever told one person and I'm pretty sure they forgot about it or buried it. So with that being said, do you guys think it's a little more common than we make it out to be? Because obviously if we don't want to talk about this in real life, could there be one or two among your friends that also has this fetish as well without you knowing maybe?

It's more common than people think. I think I even read something about some guy who told about vorarephilia in their class presentation, and that some people admitted it kinda aroused them. The problem is that a lot of people who are vorarephiles don't realize they are. So yeah, most people keep it to themselves until they find a site like Eka's Portal.

Yeah I didn't know I had a vore fetish until I saw a cartoon on youtube that I hadn't seen since I was a kid. It seems people are surprisingly knowledgeable about it though.

I've told a friend about it vore, and he actually liked the idea and another friend of mine who is a huge hentai fan, knows about it, but I don't think it's really his thing. So yeah, I think it is more common than most people believe. ^_^

Many vore-inclined people on communities like this seem to either think that we're extremely rare, or that huge portions of the population could be into it or potentially into it... (Most likely the separate yet similar psychological comforts of a belief in being special and unique or being part of a wider flock.)

It's somewhere between those two, of course. But who knows?

I do believe it will increase in popularity though. Whether us lot who have had this as a fetish since a young age like it or not, people are seemingly "picking it up" in droves in their teens or older due to the influence of the internet. There are various online gateways into it. I can certainly see vore being as popular as furry is now in a decade or two. And (if you're a certain age-group) you are reasonably likely to meet a furry person in your everyday life every so often. I believe that the rarity will become those that have been "into vore for as long as they could remember", it seems to be an easy fetish to pick up based on observer experience.

This comes to mind.

What Ron White said about being gay, I believe can be applied to anything sexual in nature. It's not a question of whether or not we find it sexual and/or arousing, but whether or not we find it sexual enough or arousing enough that we would actually concede to applying the label to ourselves.

Most people wouldn't be turned on by Saturday morning cartoons, but by the same token, most people wouldn't stop watching a monster movie just because the next victim's boobs are showing either. At the very least, I think most people would have the capacity to recognize something as having sexual undertones, regardless of whether or not they are actually appealing to them.

Muddle over this: sex and eating are two of the most primal urges found in humans and most animals. Crossing the two over is bound to happen; what simply changes is how it represents itself, of which vorarephilia is one way.

Tst12 those are some interesting statistics, I hate to think that more people search for "small breasts" than vore as a fetish lol...

Makeup that's a very interesting way to put it. You're right about sex and eating being the two most primal urges among a lot of species. I guess it is inevitable that they would be crossed.

I'm also interesting in concentration. For instance; it seems like a great deal of my family has some predisposition to vore, and have animal tendencies. My brother has subtly expressed interest, and my dad has always been geared towards media with it. My mom also has expressed interest, and I know she doesn't know the term, but she has an obsession with animals eating other dead animals, (so hard vore specifically,) and is very geared towards wolves, referring to our family as a pack, and even my grandmother acts wolfishly, gnawing on bones after eating ribs and steak and such. (I include that to try to present the possibility that the two may be similarly spread), but its cropped up in the oddest places. For instance, I was watching King Kong at a holiday party a few years ago and my second cousin who I'd never met before referred to the men being eaten by the giant worms as "cute and cuddly."

So, a bit off target, but hopefully this is something to think over.

I often wondered if my family had these same tendencies too. I won't go into details but I once had some suspicion of my brother being into weight gain. I don't think it's hard evidence though.

I would recon it's no more popular then any other fetish, it's all about knowing what it is or admitting it, foot fetishism is the most common and wide spread historically, latex, bondage, and BDSM are the most commonly known socially, vore is a little more obscure so it's not as well known. ether way popularity in a fetish isn't important really,I don't put much thought into what percentage I fall into.

Terminology and awareness could be issues here. Most people don't know what the word means, and at least some of those who don't know what it is have the fetish. I did not discover the term until about two years ago. Before then, I would not have showed up in statistics like the one referred to here: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=29509 There was also a compounding factor in my case, which I am sure is not unique, that it took me a while to get ok with the idea that this was something that turned me on sexually. It seemed too much like a snuff fetish, and I was a bit scared to even go there.

I've often wondered if any of the girls I know from my childhood ever shared this. I think a better question than "how common is it?" would be "how does one determine if another shares it?".

And then there were the Romans.
Humans are drawn to violence.
Vore, in a traditional sense of the word, is violent.
Take no offense, all of this nonsense I speak could be considered an opinion I think..
