Mental Illness & Vorarephilia

Is it just me, or does one possessing a vore fetish lead to higher cases of developing or having a mental deficiency?

I've seen far too many posts of individuals who are going to get into a long term relationship / kill themselves / sexually assault minors for me to not notice a correlation.

viewtopic.php?f=18&t=29269 DIGESTION ROLEPLAYS KILL PEOPLE IN OTHER UNIVERSES, PLAUSIBLE THEORY
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=30549 KILL SELF BECAUSE AUTHOR WROTE STORY WRONG
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=30613 DEPRESSED OVER INABILITY TO UNBIRTH ROLEPLAY
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=32898 FETISH FOR EATING PEOPLE OKAY, CHILD PIXELS ARE EVIL
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=32419 SEXIEST INTERNET POST
Posts linked to here as they are public domain and I am not actively criticizing the authors themselves.

And on and on and on.

So, the question remains– are vorarephiles predisposed towards mental illness? I mean, I'm no one to judge, what with all the attempted suicides and what not, but... seriously guys? >.>

Spoiler: show
This thread is mostly for humor. No, I don't actually think there's a correlation between the vore fetish and mental illness– but I am amused but the excessive amounts of insane posts on Eka's.

The only mentally disabled people are the ones who made those theories.

There's definitely a correlation. I've seen a lot of over-dramatic posts around here. Either that, or weird & crazy posts that are moderated off of other forums are left alive on this one.

Then again, you get about 15 "I'm killing myself" posts at http://www.4chan.org every day, so there's that to consider.

Ultimately, though, I think it has to do with this:
-People who are (a) into vore, and (b) into it enough to spend large amounts of time thinking about it and creating artwork/stories about it, are willingly isolating themselves from society, because society discourages the discussion of porn, and especially fetish porn, and especially fatal fetish porn like vore.
-People who isolate themselves from society are, to some extent, by definition mentally ill, since the only workable definition of 'sane' is 'similar to other people who are members of society' or 'conformist', and also because not talking to other people in real life can make you nuts. (I believe this has been proven, but not sure of the source).

Quite true; I think a similar explanation can be used to explain why members of a certain... pelted... fandom are, in my experience, socially maladjusted, and often times egotistical.

No hate there! I'm not only a member of that fandom, but also socially maladjusted and egotistical! ;p

But hey, I'm pretty sure the majority of us have experienced the regret after masturbation at least once where we begin to wonder "how did it get this bad, that I'm fapping to art of a transgirl swallowing seals that were transformed into gummy bears with gigantic feet"– so some of the threads are excusable.

What disturbs me more, actually, is when users decide to police fetish art over what makes them comfortable, or hold their mental disability over others to force a change they like.

I honestly feel that it depends solely on the person and their mental state and not necessarily the topic. Mostly because if it

wasn't vore that they were attracted to then there is a likeliness that it would be another fetish or whatever else people obsess over.

Some people (so I've heard) do it over video games, writers, musicians, actors, and really anything else that stick with people.

like Indiaghost said people who isolate themselves to the point of obsession may have a mental illness.

But that's just how I see things. Not defending or against anything just sayin'.. ^-^;

Yet surprisingly, I've never seen such insane posts on Gaming/Synthesizer/Programming/Comedy forums.

unstable people are all around us. maybe not on forums but in real life. that guy who committed the sandy hook shooting in Connecticut was in my honest opinion mentally ill one way or another.. but I don't know how people will act or what sets off certain people..

He was. In fact, most of the famous shootings (Aurora, Sandy Hook, Columbine) were done by mentally unstable, intelligent, white kids.

Gives one a new perspective on picking upon nerds! xP

Not a single person here has criticized vore as a fetish, nor has a single person claimed vore is 'the worst' fetish.

I'm simply remarking upon the absurdity of some posts that end up on here. Perhaps you should read my spoiler disclaimer >_>

To be fair, you find about the same amount of lunacy on other forums. You'd be surprised how obsessive people can get about model-building, for instance...

But yes. I love reading the topics list on Eka's so I can quote them to my friends and laugh about them. My favorite is still "My Anal Vore Videos (WARNING: RL footage!)"

1. Gaming Forums
Pfffffffft

2 & 3. Synthesizer/Programming Forums
Well, with these, I'd imagine you'd have to have a pretty good head on your shoulders to even maintain a conversation there, so posts tend to be of a level-headed nature.

4. Comedy Forums
Laughter is the best medicine after all, especially for psychological ills.

This site, however, is a fetish site. You can't expect much levelheadedness when those are involved. Though isolation is still likely the primary reason.

for me this kind of thing did NOT cause my issues. Ive had them for many years.
also saying that someone is always killed isn't true, they are a lot but my early vore experiences were creatures who helped out people by carrying them in their bellies. no death.
I do it to have some amount of realism while removing major issues at the same time(i.e. acids can be turned off, animals are easy to train, etc)
those quirks may have been the reason I joined, actually.
(this applies to me, but it's not necessarily true for others. thus it's just my perspective and opinion.)

on the other hand:
when imagining happy things you are happy. so it is plausible that someone who spends their days in a dark,evil,life-taking fantasy may also eventually began to feel the darkness creeping in. especially if you imagine things very vividly.
this probably affects a LOT more people then the first statement.

This topic could have been titled better, but... well, there's correlation. Speaking as an autistic person here, from my own point of view. Perhaps it stems from the double-edged-sword nature of many mental disabilities - the creative side of aspergers.

To list a few examples:

Paranoid/schitzoid disorders, and insight/possible psychic abilities
Autism-spectrum disorders and creativity/maths/synesthesia/other AMAZING gifts of mental prowess

And on the physical side:
That blind guy who sees in SONAR like Daredevil
Countless similar tales of senses adapting to counter disabilities.

Madness can be found everywhere :D

As for myself - No, I don't have any mental illnesses ..unless you view my kinks as an illness, that is :P

Changed it to be a bit more specific to the topic I'm talking about. Was a semantics problem, my bad ^^;
