Then why did he shift when he absorbed Krillin?

I thought the Fanon was that a sufficiently powerful person would cause a shift. Ninja from Naruto? Unlikely. Pheonix or Morrigan Aensland? Definitely.

Remember, he absorbs people two different ways:
He can stab them ad suck out their insides, to generate power, or he can open his tail up and eat them whole.
Video games have gone to show eating someone whole changes him.

I thought Cellin was a what-if because Krillin wasn't made to complete Cell like 17/18 were. Still think shifting isn't an issue.

To each their own.

My main two shifts on Cell come from an Asari (DNA forces the change due to adding an overriding female element) and Morrigan gave him/her new wings. Other than that most additions will have color changes.
