FYI, orcas and dolphins both are whales: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toothed_whale

Ugh, fine. I stand fallible and correctable like all people. I just wish people would classify dolphins as dolphins where they can. There is a "Cetaceans - Dolphin" category in FA for people looking for dolphins and I hate having to specify "Cetaceans - Whales" to get Orcas. It's really annoying.

And they're all fish, so, why not call an Orca a general fish, next to a shark and Nemo.

You do realize Cetaceans are sea mammals, not fish right >.> Complaining will only cause drama, and not getting your facts straight first will only lead to arguments like this. You've let us know your opinion, and the misconceptions are corrected, let's drop this before it turns into an argument, since pushing further would likely derail the thread.
As for the dolphin thing, even Orcas are part of the Dolphin family, it's still a different subfamily. While people know Orcas are whales, most people wouldn't know how related they are to Dolphins unless they looked it up because the two are so different. That's partly misconception, partly easier to classify Orcas as whales in general. Just how it is.
Now, back to our scheduled lurking.

Holy whale! :O

Though one of the commenters on that post has a point about the throat. The slide down is way too long, even IMO. It probably needs to be shorter.

Yeah, I suppose that part of the animation is a bit slow. I made that model I while back, and it was seemingly to scale with an anatomically correct reference picture.

We will never know. HOLD THE PHONE, I just remembered a story of a person whale hunting and he was knocked over board and all he remember's was being hit into the air and then feeling a very warm and slimy enviroment, shortly after the seamen captured the whale and started cutting away at the blubbler and after 2 days they hit the stomach and say a large lump, and they opened it and there he was alive and well, little burnt here and there. Well if you dont belive me here is a link ( http://www.ycaol.com/swallowed.htm )

There is absolutely no way that happened in real life. I can imagine someone surviving two minutes under the right circumstances, though I would not want to risk it. This sounds like someone read the biblical story of Jonah and then made up a tale.

In the story of Jonah, it never explicitly said "whale." It just said "a great fish." It could have been something much bigger than a whale, something that is extinct now.

Unfortunately I don't believe there's any evidence of a larger animal, carnivorous or otherwise, that could have made the Jonah fable possible. It's surely not true.
