Sorry~ All the gals I've shown the game to want one, too.
But the vote was pretty amazingly one-sided >< I assumed most people would be in the "fine either way" camp~

Never underestimate the power of a predominately male demographic. http://aryion.com/content/real-gender-identification-and-connection
You're the owner and CEO though, I'd encourage you to make decisions yourself sometimes!
Part of business is actually experimenting to be honest. In your situation I'd release a male dealer and observe if donations were comparable to releasing a female dealer.
For the record though I'm overwhelmingly male-straight and would prefer a female dealer. But I realize I have to experiment in my job and go against my own desires and do what actually works, which IS NOT always the majority opinion.
Because the majority would DEFINITELY prefer free content 99% of the time!
Sorry for the brutal honesty, but from one developer to another: Good luck

Hmmm... think of it like a ratio then. 36/142 people either want or are fine with a male, so after 4 female dealers are in the game, put in 1 male!

hehe, true, but... more maths!
The game, which currently panders to the 106-vote majority, has received donations to raise funding for more content. Thus far, then, approximately 18% of the "we want tasty gals" crowd has assisted with the funding of the next dealer (resulting in 42% overall funding ). If a similar percentage of the 4 "manz pls" group donated, we'd have a little bit less than 1 donation! It'll be unsustainable to buy a guy for y'all if support is not there ._.
(That being said, there are some predominantly male-as-pred artists out there with lower commission rates, so who knows... )

You're assuming the donation amount per donation would be similar among the group who would want a male dealer.
You're also assuming only 18% of the "we want tasty guy" crowd would be willing to donate. Which in my opinion may be a VERY wrong assumption.
Especially in light of research on the topic... http://www.businessinsider.com/women-and-mobile-games-2014-8
Women spend more money on games in general especially when a game caters to their interest, they are both more willing to spend at all and spend more than male counterparts on all counts that I can find.
I'm not even sure there is a female minded game on the nexus to cater to a female interest of m/f or m/m. Sounds like a market waiting to be cracked open.
I mean think about it. We're swimming in male oriented content on this site that we don't even have to pay for. Anything catering to males is a drop in the bucket of a few dozen other projects.
Who is more likely to be hungry enough for content to pay for it?
Guys who are swimming in free stuff? Or the women who don't have much catering to them?

then get people to vote with their wallet =p
Find a male artist, get a quote, and list it. Anyone interested in a male dealer can make a donation towards it, and when they hit it, the new dealer is commissioned. Win/Win?

Not my game, not my project, not my job.
It would be very assumptive for me to do something like that without permission from Journeyman, borderline disrespectful.
There's also the fact that I literally wouldn't get anything out of my effort, since I don't even want a male dealer?
So I'd go through the trouble just to make a point? Because it would be work to advertise it and drum up donations.
If I were to do it I'd want meet the market where they live and most M/M and M/F content is in the story galleries and the roleplay chats. So make a few stories and attach a photomanipped thumbnail to the stories of chippendales with bellies.(Because any story with a sexy thumbnail gets *more* views period)
Make a chat character with a steamy back story and hot picture and link it to the game thread. Just to get it seen and get more exposure to your product. Do the same at f-list.
Basically get it in some form on every board you can reasonably do so.
But perhaps I'm treating it too much like a business when it's really a charity...
Yah, that's probably true.

Re: Ultimate Blackjack
Given this site, the male switch or pred/ prey artists would be far cheaper than the female ones. I suppose I can ask in the OOC chat room to see if there is anyone that might be interested in the commission, and see what they would charge...

Re: Ultimate Blackjack - A POLL and an UPDATE
Ryan-Drakel wrote:Curious as to her take on the whole casino deal... Does she mind being eaten or does she desire it partially, just wanting someone to win her?
I'll leave that up to the owner.
Well, considering her behaviour about it (and less-canon, purchsed stuff carrying over), it seems like being eaten is more of an inconvenience than anything. How she apparently survives (and if her opponents do) is unknown.
I like to think it's a world where anyone with enough money to go to a casino has some personal respawn point magic or technology, while hers is provided by the casino. Being eaten just sucks and puts you down some clothes.
As for a male dealer...I'd prefer female, but 2 girls is plenty to wait with, and then one obligatory male is fair.
Then back to girls, por favor.

Crash, <3 Thank you! Every donation is progress in the game!
Interesting thoughts expressed here, everyone, about guy dealers, etc. We shall see after this new bunnyish gal puts in an appearance
(And yea, definitely running more like a charity than a business XD No business goes forward intentionally planning to constantly be at a negative income, hoping to maybe break even ;D )

Re: Ultimate Blackjack
As someone who voted for the "never wanna see male dealer" option, I'd just like to say that I wouldn't actually be offended by a male dealer, I just figured there were three options - want female dealers, want male dealers, and like both. There just wasn't a more moderate "prefer female" option. I wouldn't mind having some male dealers in the casino, I simply wouldn't personally spend much time playing their tables.
So to clarify, I'm pro female, but not anti male.
I think after getting three female dealers getting a male one would be only fair.

Re: Ultimate Blackjack
Well, this current dealer is a free poll, and people prefer female.
After that, why not Skullgirls is and have a donation poll? The amount donated in dollars is how many votes you get towards the next dealer, and maybe instead of just gender, let votes also be on nature, human/furry, etc.
Of course, everyone who loses the poll will have paid money for something they don't want, so that could be an issue...
There could also be separate funding bars for concepts, and when one is full, they'll be added in.

KamiKaze1337, thanks!!! Glad you've enjoyed it so far!
DarkTau, hmmmrmrmrm. I haven't got a windows XP machine anymore, but I know a few players here have gotten it working on their systems. My best guess would be that your DirectX drivers may be out of date, or might be modified in a way which has caused them to misbehave (some graphics-intensive games back in the early 2000s came packaged with alternative DirectX drivers that mess things up). Try going to Start > Run and typing dxdiag to run DirectX diagnostics. Also, soo Microsoft's page: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... aspx?id=35 to download and update/reinstall the latest version of DerectX that was made for WinXP
kyle1992, I'm glad you like the game! I hope you win big someday!!
Hey everyone! Some news!
As many of you have seen already, another dealer is in the works! And if you've seen the OP, you may have noticed that we've raised enough $$$ for her! Yayyayayyyyyyayyayyayy!
So, we actually raised the full $750?!?!
Hahahahahahaha, no. But, this second dealer is being drawn by a very generous friend of mine who loved the game and wanted to contribute. Her price for the commission was just the amount that she needed to finish paying off a grad degree loan, and it was much less than most artists would normally charge for a set of images!! So, everyone be sure to thank her once the new set is complete!!!
Ahh, so what happens now??
We continue! I'm working on dialogue, animation, and some feature improvements; she's working on illustration. The work has been paid for, and will hopefully be coming soon to a game near you. I've applied the leftover donation money towards a third dealer. For now, I'm assuming a commission amount around $700, similar to Raven. If (and this is a big if) donations keep coming along and the total starts getting up into the couple hundred again, I'll start looking through available artists and getting commission quotes to determine exactly how much we need to raise. It's going to take at least a few hundred. I hope that I can make this game worth it!!
