(un)Interestingly, whereas Kiru's face is easier to draw than her body, with this character it's quite the opposite - I think her body's easier to draw what with being almost completely black (greenish. but still), I'm yet to get a decent grasp of her face. :/

DURRR I'll probably be drawing her usual form or harpy form - she isn't comfortable with her human form. XD

Because I tend to do this with a lot of my pred characters (except for those who have a very basic digestive system). The art isn't that great but it's not really the focus with this one. Also yey silly remarks all over the sheet.
Anyways, Kiru's digestive system is based on that of a generic bird's, what with a bit of modification and whatnot.
Those who aren't familiar with bird anatomy, crop is the enlargement of the gullet where a bird keeps its food for later consumption, proventriculus is the stomach that oozes digestive fluids and the gizzard grinds up the food. :T
I guess the crop is useful for her when she eats smaller critters. However, a prey as big as a human takes a lot of space...
Also I'd imagine her digestion and metabolism has to be efficient since she needs a lot of energy for flying. @__@

She kind of looks like a retarded raptor, lol. Which ... is kind of the point. XD I'd imagine she swoops down for big prey and grabs it with her talons (when hunting at night. oh the foolish people who go out at night. she can also take on her humanoid form and devour the victim messily as well, or maybe lure them close enough and then turn back to her original form and eat them), or if someone's unfortunate enough to stumble over her when she's sleeping during the day, they get nommed.

Also, too much realism... DURRRR. WHAR R BONES. I like drawing her all round and tubby after eating... when she looks like a wacky bird ball, lol.

She's one of the few preds of mine who lacks a long prehensile tongue. Her tongue... is pitifully small, as you may witness in the lower right corner doodle. She can't even lick an ice cream cone! Oh well, I guess she has relatively powerful jaws to compensate for that.

Why are seemingly playful and cute predators so much fun? XD

I drew her again! Been influenced by Fever Ray's music again...
Anyhoo, I had some developments for her earlier as well but I think I'll try to write those down now...
Being a long-lived creature, there are many stories revolving around her. Most of which are sex-related. Hmm.
Some of those would include the ability to have offspring with any animal, first by assuming a human form and turning the mate temporarily into a human too. Some time later she lays an egg, and if the offspring is female, she will be capable of taking on a human form like her mother. Males will not have shapeshifting abilities.
What about humans? Depending on the story, she might rape the victim before devouring them, or just stalks them and eats them, regardless of age or gender.
Some stories have her kidnap small children and raise them to respect nature and on a darker side, to murder their old families.
She doesn't come off as a very human-friendly person at all.

So far I haven't decided what scale her human form is compared to her monster form (which is huge in comparison to a human) and that is she capable or willing to eat people in a human form.
Amusingly, her bird-like form seems so ... playful and adorable. XD The scribble in the upper left corner seems a bit OOC in a way lol...
Drawing wings and plumage is tricky but thanks to tutorials, I'm starting to get to the hang of it 8D
Separating the wings and arms was... well, she might want to grip on her prey with more than just her talons.

I came up with this character concept recently... I tried making a harpy-like creature but then I came up with this one and started developing her. I've been wanting to have a bird-like predator for a while now. XD
She's very nightjar-inspired... they're quite fascinating birds. Plus, they have huge mouths, and that's always a plus.
