Trixie is amazing, and she deserves to be great and powerful, and anypony should be grateful for the chance to become part of such a beautiful creature.
But she also deserves to be put firmly in her place, and to be reminded that when you mess with Dashie, you go down hard.
Y'know, I once heard that Applejack and Rainbow Dash should have had their elements swapped. It actually does fit a bit better, AJ has had a lot of episodes about being dependable and loyal to her family and commitments. Can't think of one, off the top of my head, where Rainbow had to demonstrate loyalty, but I recall instances where she had to be honest and own up to stuff.
Oh also...
Dammit Trixie, you should have read that spell more thoroughly and made sure it was longer lasting or permanent. Well she could always reabsorb Dash, assuming she doesn't get away or turn the tables on the magician.
Yes hello, I am late to this conversation, but I think the simple 'one char does this, that char does that, therefore element swap' is too simple for what the elements represent. I mean, firstly I guess there is a lot of overlap between the two and more diverse elents could have been picked, but secondly, you can demonstrait loyalty to friends by doing something 'honest' and you can do something honest by being 'loyal' or and still be doing distinct things, somethin like that.
Blah blah, nuances of pride and devotion and why their respective characters represent their traits than the other, blah blah.
