This is probably about the halfway point of this story... gonna go a little long with this one since there is just so much left for Caelin to do before... better not give THAT away ;)

.... Me thinks yon Matriarch wants an Heir.
that is the only thing that makes sense.

of course, it is sort of ironic, that the very spirit that drove them into the shadows was what she hoped would allow them out.

Stupid lack of an edit button, possiable spoiler Question?

Will Matriarch Widow find out the Insani Patrem, Iracundi Accipitrem, and Sapientes Noctuae are all the same spitit?

Matriarch Widow has no need of 'heirs', all she 'needs' are bodies :) but as for what... that'll come into play later on. I'll tell you this much, the Surgetouched, Shadowscale and Ghostscale Matriarchs will all be 'magically' immortal; only with their own unique 'twists' on that magical immortality ;P

And yes, Matriarch Widow will eventually learn just 'what' Sapientes Noctuae actually is, but that will have to wait for a little while, gotta go through Caelin's story for a little bit before we get to why Sapientes Noctuae's 'shadow' is so terrifying xD

As for what you said about Sapientes Noctuae being the one to drown the Shadowscales in darkness... well, that'll just have to wait until I post the next chapter :3

I said drove them, not drowned. What? it's the only thing i can nit-pic about.

heheh x3 You'll just have to wait until next chapter, Sapientes Noctuae does drive them away from their home, but 'he' is not the only 'all-powerful' spirit that can think and act away from his master's shadow :)

Sapientes Noctuae is he or was he a dragon?

Nope, but he definitely had scales of a kind before his death :) Keep reading though, cause I believe that I put a more accurate description of what he once was later on...
