That Was Completely Unexpected

Permanent Linkby Chameleonette on Thu Sep 12, 2019 6:41 pm

So. Hi.

I'm back from out-patient surgery in the ER this afternoon. What I thought was a sore throat and swelling that I went to the local walk-in clinic to get checked out early this morning turned out to be something called Acute Peritonsillar Abscess and it was taking over my throat/airway. They referred me to the ER about 30 mins away and I nearly had a break-down in their office, as it was not something I expected to hear when I went in.

I had a CT scan for the first time in my life. An IV for the first time in my life. And then went through what was probably the singular most painful thing I've ever endured. When numbing solutions don't work because you have too many nerves in the back of your mouth and they try four times with different solutions to numb it without success? And they hold your head down when they come in with the needles? You're going to have a bad time.

I was not prepared for what happened today, but I'm thankful it was taken care of...

Update With Good News

Permanent Linkby Chameleonette on Sun Sep 01, 2019 4:54 pm

First of all, I want to thank everyone who showed support and understanding with the cancer situation with my mother. I'm extremely pleased to say that the operation was successful! And FURTHER pleased to say that, as of the news I was given yesterday, her cancer is gone. The doctors have determined that it did not breach the walls of her intestine. And since they took out the whole area where the tumor was and a ways around it (an entire foot) as well as her appendix, they have decided that she will not need chemo or any type of radiation treatment. This was... more than we could have hoped for. I'm extremely relieved. It'll be 6-8 weeks before she fully recovers, but I'm just very happy that things went well.

Thanks again to all the well wishes and stories that some of you shared about your family's experiences with such things, too.

And though I'm still battling with my art, I'm going to be getting to those commission reserves soon. Thank you guys for being...

I just want to take a moment to thank those on my commissions reserves for being patient.

I know I didn't update about it here, because it was such shocking news and I've been fretting since and having difficulty focusing on anything for well over a month now, but my mother was unexpectedly diagnosed with Colon Cancer after a colonoscopy. It has been an emotional battle for my entire family and I'm doing what I can to support her and keep her spirits up. Her big surgery that will (hopefully) lead to recovery if it goes well is at the end of this month. She has a heart condition as well, but they're going to have heart surgeons on-hand during the surgery in case anything goes wrong. It's nerve-wracking, but I know she's getting the best care she can get. Recovery will take awhile, as they're actually doing several procedures with this surgery, and potential chemo, but I'm trying to keep faith that she'll make it through this just as my father did in his battle with Leukemia. On top of all...

Commissions Will Be Opening Soon! (Reserves FILLED!)

Permanent Linkby Chameleonette on Thu Jun 06, 2019 12:29 pm

My apologies for the delay on this! I was trying to find a way to get my tablet monitor functional again on the new computer (which has been unsuccessful) in order to be able to offer coloring again, as well as fighting one hell of an art block.

I will also have some limitations on maximum characters in images and such now, since although I have purchased a new scanner, the scanning bed is significantly smaller than my old one. So that's something I will have to discuss with each client.

But commissions are going to be open soon (still only the drawn and shaded ones as listed in the commissions page)! And if you want to reserve a slot, you can send me a message. I'll take up to FIVE reserve slots for now, but please understand that these will not be done immediately. I'm still working on breaking out of my art block. So if you're really impatient and need the commission ASAP, I wouldn't recommend reserving!

I'm still working my way through...

Update and Comms Coming Soon

Permanent Linkby Chameleonette on Mon Apr 01, 2019 3:15 pm

I just wanted to update on the situation with the dead computer and such--

My former computer died of hard drive failure. I had to pay a tech group to do it, but they managed to recover most of my data---so my drawings and writings and such were safe, along with my password docs. That was a big weight off of my shoulders. And it took awhile, but I got a new computer. I paid my younger brother for parts and he built it for me. It was a heavy price on top of already shelling out $200 a month to make payments on my medical bill, but I'm pushing my way through it. And while I'm at it, I just want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported me and helped me out along the way, be it monetary donations, commissioning me during a time of need, or just general support. I'm really grateful. I've got ways to go, but I'll be free of my medical bill after June's payment. Just a few more months to go.

Unfortunately, with the new computer, I have gotten a new problem....
