The Chammy FAQ

Permanent Linkby Chameleonette on Sat Jan 18, 2014 3:42 pm

What is this, exactly? Well, I tend to get people asking me a lot of the same questions, so I thought it might be time I compiled one of these---which I can then link in referral when I'm asked the same things multiple times.

The Chammy FAQ:

1.) I don't like M/F. Why don't you draw/write/RP other vore-related things? It would help you expand/make you more popular!

First of all, I'm not here for a popularity contest. If I cared about such a thing, then sure, my gallery would be filled to the brim with F/F and F/M. But whether many people dislike M/F vore or not does not concern me. I like to be true to myself. I enjoy M/F vore. This is a part of me and a part of my preferences. I don't feel as though I should have to change myself for the sake of anyone else's preferences. If you don't agree with mine, that's fine, but at least respect them and don't try to push me into doing something I dislike.

2.) Are you a misogynist?

No. And I don't think I should have to feel ashamed for having sexual and vore-related preferences and fantasies in which a man is dominant over a female. Honestly, I tend to find this question pretty rude. Many of you enjoy the opposite in your preferences, but you consider it normal and acceptable just because it's a female that's dominating? I call it hypocrisy. I enjoy what I enjoy and I still stand up for female rights and representations. Imagine that.

3.) Do you do requests? How about trades/collaborations? Commissions?

Requests are a no. I've tired myself out over the years taking requests in fandoms and I just can't put myself up to it anymore.

Trades/collaborations are iffy and would largely depend on what the other person expected me to do. It doesn't hurt to ask if you're interested, though.

Commissions are something I have just started taking. You can find the info here: http://aryion.com/g4/userpage.commissio ... meleonette

4.) Why do you answer all your comments? Do you really have that much free time?

I do have a job IRL, though I don't get many hours there anymore. I wouldn't say I have tons of free time, but even if I did, that wouldn't be the reason for me answering my comments. I answer them because it's the polite thing to do and because if people can take a moment of their time to respond to something I posted or said, even if it's simply a one-word response like "nice", I can take a moment of my time to thank them. I really do appreciate all the comments I receive and I intend to keep showing those people who take the time out to say something about my work that I'm grateful to them for it. And just replying to "some" comments because of their length or content is not something I will ever do. It doesn't matter if it's one word or a novel---I appreciate all of them. The only comments I would not reply to are ones that tell me to draw something else, are stated in an offensive/rude manner, or have nothing to do with the subject matter.

5.) Do you only draw human/humanoid vore?

It's what I'm comfortable with, so it's what you will see the most from me. However, I am trying to work back into drawing anthro-types. I used to draw them many, many years ago, but I am very out of practice with them.

6.) You have a lot more art than stories. If you do both, why is there less writing in your gallery? I want to read more of your vore writing!

It works by an inspiration and motivation basis. I feel inspired to draw much more easily than I feel inspired to write. I don't know why that is, but it's not something I can really contest. If I force myself to write, I am rarely ever happy with the outcome. This is why I'm wary of adding writing to my available commission work. I'm happy for those that have enjoyed my stories, but I can't promise when there will be more.

7.) Do you livestream?

I assume this usually refers to whether or not I livestream drawing. And I will have to say that I generally do not. I tend to feel very self-conscious about my drawing when I'm being watched. However, I do have a livestream. I use it sometimes for playing video games and chatting by voice with an audience. If you're interested, it's here: http://www.livestream.com/mandasgamingandstuff

8.) You're really opinionated/hard to talk to/unapproachable.

I'm sorry? I don't try to be unapproachable, but I also can't really deal with being very warm and affectionate with people I don't know. I take time to warm up to people and feel comfortable with them. It's just how I am. And I don't take being opinionated as a bad thing. I don't think I'm rude about my opinions or the way that I state them. And I certainly don't lower myself to the point of insulting people. I never mean to discourage anyone from speaking to me--I'm actually very happy to chat with others about things as long as it's civil and non-combative.

9.) Why do you take so long to answer PMs?

Sometimes I get busy and don't check the site for awhile. Otherwise, I find the PM system difficult to keep up with in general. I apologize to anyone I might have left hanging at some point. Tackling PMs can sometimes be a handful when I have a large backlog of them. If this does upset you, please feel free to tell me and I will make time to get back to your PM.

10.) What's your name/handle all about?

The misleading thing with my name here (Chameleonette) seems to be that people automatically think I'm an anthro/animal artist because of it. And that's false. I chose the name simply because, like a chameleon, I blend into my new surroundings in order to "hide" from those that I do not wish to see me. I don't want to be associated with my more well-known online persona, because as you and I both know, vore is not widely-accepted by people outside of the fetish.

--------

That's all, for now. I may update this in the future if something else becomes recurring. That said, if you see anything that I haven't addressed, feel free to tell me!

Thank you. : )

Haha, ah god, you too?
I have the same problem.

Methinks I should start a misogynist club for us ladies (; (oh the irony. Does that mean we, like, smack one another as our induction code? LOL)

Yeah, I've been asked if I was one and told I was one. As if they have any idea about me personally beyond this fetish. : P Lucky us, I suppose.

I think it's almost the "go to" thing that people who don't agree with M/F vore default to when looking for something 'wrong' with our preferences. If the male is dominant, arrogant, or cruel and if the female is unwilling, clearly it's misogynist! I mean, who cares that female giants are all over this site doing the same things. If it's a guy, it's offensive and so are you!

Screw that, man. Double-standards always tick me off.

Heh, I figured you name was based off that animal. Although the 'ette' part always made me think of some lightweight anthro chameleon girl that was like... 4 feet tall. Granted your view on female prey didn't help with the image. Poor shy thing goes invisible when it gets caught, and then everyone thinks the pred is the world's greatest mime. :P

Granted that's not you... and a bit overkill for an impression, but still.
Beautiful prey,
squirms in my agony,
fuel for my lust.

It's a poor excuse for a haiku, but still one of the better things I have written. XD

Do people genuinely ask if women are misogynistic? I mean... that's so contradictory, so elementarily contradictory, that it actually hurts my brain to think about it. Plus I've never heard of submissive men being accused of misandry, so accusing women of misogyny seems, well, motivated by sexism. Ironically.

Some people are staggeringly stupid.

SLR, quick counterexample: Self-hatred is a thing, but it's not obviously of benefit to the self-hater.

This is clearly not a carefully constructed argument, but I think it can be made so.

Hahaha, that's an amusing concept, regardless. XD I don't think I've ever seen a prey character like that before.

They do, believe it or not. But I've been accused of not being female, too, so. *shrugs* I think when people don't agree with someone's view on something or it goes against their own, they simply look for ways to discredit the other person/other person's views somehow.

There are semantic differences linguistically between self-hatred and female misogyny/male misandry. I've seen it claimed in academic circles that a woman might collude with misogynists, who are all implicitly male as a direct result of that word being used, but it is antithetical that a woman can herself be misogynistic. I admit that not everyone pays great attention to etymologies and historical origins/usage of language the way I do however. In concept you make an interesting point, but the paradox so far as that specific word goes continues to cause me some mental discomfit.

I still maintain that it's an entirely stupid accusation to make to a woman in this context, too, and one that shows an inherent bias on the part of the one making the accusation.

Unfortunately that is very true. It says far more about them though.
