Quick Update

Permanent Linkby Damsel on Sat Apr 05, 2014 10:01 pm

Monday is my birthday (22!) but I'm celebrating it tomorrow so I won't be on. I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday and stay safe.

On another note I've been receiving comments about how I portray my male preds as "mean/cruel" and that they should be nicer. I resent this greatly. Predators are just that, they hunt, they feed and they take no pity. A true hunter does not tip his hat and ask to eat someone. It's not realistic. They're wolves ripping at deer, lions devouring gazelles and eagles pulling fish from water. Any dark themes and violent male portrayal is all on purpose. The Daemon have been denied their birthright and the Verulians are to pay. So Raegor and Silas are only doing what is natural to them. It really bothers me that people are surprised about that.
It discourages me, although I've heard the m/f side of vore is kicked around. I won't take negative comments personally.

If a female pred can toy with another man/woman and a male pred can screw with another man (all violently may I add) then please zip a lip when some of us m/f writers have male preds act cruelly or viciously.
You don't like my characters? Don't read my writing.

(I would like to point out that Bae and Odred are not nice preds, they are vicious animals whose wrath you have yet to see.)

Wow, we're only a single day apart in birthdays! :D Mine is Tuesday (the 8th). I have a nephew born on the 7th, too. I hope you have a great birthday (both the day itself and your celebration tomorrow)!

As for the pred thing... that really ticks me off. It also makes no sense, since most of those who like female preds much prefer them to be mean/cruel and unforgiving. When the role is reversed, they think it's suddenly OK to complain about it. And it's really annoying. I see people comment to artists about that, too. "Why is the pred such an asshole?" "I really want to punch that guy." etc. Like it's not OK for women to like their preds that way. It's hypocritical and I'm sorry you have to deal with that crap. Write your preds HOWEVER you want. I much prefer the cruel/mean preds, anyway. Willing vore and kind/gentle preds are just not my thing.

I'm glad you're not taking it too much to heart, though. Those of us who write/draw male preds with female prey are bound to encounter these sorts of complaints. Hell, there are people that like to remind me that they'll never look at anything I do unless I start drawing female preds. Or 'hey, I like your style, but i hate m/f. draw female preds!!'. It's annoying and jerkish, but people WILL try to influence you and usually not in nice ways. Keep holding your head up and doing what you want to do. I look forward to more of the story.

Thank you so much Chameleonette your words really make me good! Apparently male preds who act in any way forceful or possessive are sexist pricks. But surprise, women actually like forceful and possessive. I mean he's eating said lady, an act which kills her. Why in the hell would he be sweet if he's fine and dandy with taking her life to fuel his own? People in the M/F side of this fetish need to hold each other up. And happy early birthday to you!

Happy (early) birthday Damsel and Chameleonette!

Anyhow,

While yes, it is hypocritical for them to react that way to M/F vore, I think a part of it has to do with the still persistent misogyny and not wanting to touch that. Even with that point of view considered, I tend to find F/? much more misogynistic than M/F because most of the characters made for F/? don't exactly feel like...people. I also hold the same attitude towards male preds who aren't well developed. That being said, a well-developed pred for me doesn't mean they have to be purely gentle or purely cruel. I usually prefer preds that have a capacity for both being nice and cruel without the benevolence being a facade (and this applies to both male and female preds) o-o;. It's a weird paradox.

The lenient attitude towards female preds is what pushed me away from the vore community a long time ago since the female pred I had wasn't really being treated the way she's supposed to be (as in they liked her when she was out of character only, which meant being sickeningly friendly). If people were just as judgmental towards female preds than male preds, then it wouldn't be as disturbing for me regardless of the pred's attitude.

Sweet? Most definitely not. However, I think that even if they're fine with eating other people to keep living, there's a difference between having your way with the prey by toying with them or just treating it like an everyday event (Like with the wolves, eagles, etc. Sure they're violent, but are they actively making the prey suffer knowing they're suffering or just going with the motions of their anatomy to keep living?).

That's what I find perplexing about that sort of attitude. Doesn't that mean they already looked at your stuff?

Happy birthday to both Damsel and Chameleonette!

I just have to get my 2 cents worth in here. I want to begin with the fact that I am a male. I started with F/M and had tons of fans, no one gave me any grief, everyone was happy. My undoing came here when I switched over to M/F. Though I still get a rush out of F/M, like others I just found it kind of strange for women to be eating poor helpless little men. It is purely sexual, nothing very deep or savage about it. Coming over to M/F, I could exercise my darker fantasies of sadistic male characters dominating and consuming female victims.......Wow, bad move as a male writer, though I think it was mostly males giving me grief. I was called on it a number of times and I didn't go nearly as far in the graphic descriptions of violence that some of the female writers here do.

In the end, I have all but abandoned Eka's and I only do a little female mouth rendering over on DeviantArt. The vore is dead to me because of a few pricks going postal over my M/F works. I wish I had the support some of the female writers provide each other but I had to go it alone.

It always amazes me how someone can just come out and go ape shit on a complete stranger for having an interest and fantasy that goes against their own.

I hope you have a better experience with this than I did. I wish we had been communicating back when I went through my mess. Perhaps we could have formed the M/F Vore survivors support group.

All the best.

Darius.

oh man i hope i didnt give you that impression with my comments!
truth be told i actually have a thing for preds that prey on other preds to protect those that cant defend themselves.
but as for your story, i have no complaints to you. besides i dont think your preds are that bad. the ones that really bother me are the ones that do it "for the evols" as they say. but even if they did i would just keep my mouth shut, cuz its your story!
i know i did comment on Raegor's attitude towards his prey but that doesnt mean im not diggin this story. i think you could hate all the characters of a book and still like the story. and im not saying that i completely hate Raegor btw.
but if any of my comments did annoy you i will be sure to shut my mouth up for now on. <3
i dont want make you unhappy!

oh and happy birthday! :-D

Honestly, we've all had to deal with this on some level. And there isn't some kind of secret support group among the female writers. I did fully support your work when you were posting it, as did a few others--it wasn't enough for you. And you said part of the issue was that M/F wasn't popular enough for you to continue doing it.

This is where we differ. Despite asshole comments, rude remarks, and other unpleasantries I've dealt with for my interest in M/F and the works I do, I don't give up. I don't care about the lack of popularity or how much people like F/M and F/F works. I do what makes me happy.

I fully understand that it sucks to get bad feedback and it's a downer, but popularity isn't everything.

Yeah, you learn to accept there are asshats that won't leave others to their preferences *sighs, shaking head* Just remember this site does NOT allow people dissing the preferences of others, so you get to feeling harassed or just get tired of it, send it our way. Staff love kicking asshats to the curb with bite marks all over their asses <3 Well at least THIS dragon does :))

And congratz on the birthday. Damn, hard to believe just how long ago that was for me, ahahahaha. Always disconcerting to be twice another adult's age, ahahahah

Write and draw what you like and enjoy. Preds have got to be preds to be believable. I remember when I was told my first vampire work on here was "not how a vampire really is" I got a good laugh out of it a blurred out the rest after laughing at the stupidity of saying something fictional "couldn't be possible."

My darker erotic horror pieces and RP's tend to give people nightmares. Took me a while to get used to that thought. What was harder at first was when people started to ASK for nightmares >_>
"Mmmm," Purple eyes stare enviously at a young woman's chest. "I might have to borrow that..."

A bit later as whimpers of despair fade, Im'Rhys admires her newest bewb job, "Ooooh, these look so much better on me."
