Terastas, your answer does make sense, but it wasn't the one I came up with. Hint: the human did taste good during the fight

the answer: The warrior had his weapons when the lion first tried to eat him, so the lion knew he couldn't eat the warrior, not just yet. When the warrior was going away, the lion knocked the weapons out of the warrior's hand, and now it was safe to swallow.
