I never really understood that in most media. Does tickling the uvula really make you sneeze?

Probably not but it could make you throw up so that's pretty close to sneezing. Vomit must be to bleh to handle I suppose.

In the new episode of Star Vs The Forces of Evil the gang battles Hungry Larry who swallows people whole.

I've always loved the idea of using the uvula as a light switch for the mouth.

No, it makes you barf.

The reason they depict it as sneezing is because depicting a sneezing is more family-friendly than depicting vomiting. There's the "vomit discretion shot" trope for a reason.

I wonder why in cartoons - animal characters have uvulas, but IRL animals don't have uvula.
Question. Do monkeys and apes have uvulas??? I don't know:)

From what I've read online, some apes and monkeys have one. Also horses but it's much different from ours. And one species of wild singing dog supposedly have a very long soft palate and an underdeveloped uvula, but I've been unable to find anything about it

There is a brief scene of uvula play in the new Trolls animated movie where the evil prince tries to swallow one of the trolls.
