There's a new monster battling anime out called "The All-devouring Whale: Homecoming" which was just a figure of speech, but was curious nonetheless. It looks like a historical anime, but has comedic moments that break from this with a goofier look, kind of like Avatar: The last Airbender.

From what I can gather, the Main character, Fan Lingxiao, was a famous for controlling catfish or Whale spirits whose main ability is to devour anything. He ends up dying during a tournament when his main spirit gets corrupted and devours him as well as some of the audience. A year later, he revives and ends up finding the last catfish spirit after the tournament incident lead to the species extermination. He wins his first battle after having his new catfish devour his opponents snake. In the second episode, Fan makes it clear that he's willing to feed both spirits and humans to his catfish when a group of guys attack his former group.

On a more critical note:

The show has some similar problem as the Pokemon Adventure manga. They both try to be mature by it clear that the creatures can die during battle, but they accidentally make them look expendable. Fan killing Bai's snake in the first episode feels reminiscent to the Infamous Charmeleon v Arbok fight where the latter literally gets sliced in half. But it really kicks in the second episode where Fan returns to his former group and finds that somehow all of their spirits were killed by just three guys with three spirits. The cat spirit particular is implied to be well-trained and it still dies in one attack.

Here a full vore scene from that Murderbot 2025 trailer I posted earlier! In ep1 a giant two-headed centipede tries to eat a guy, although it only managed to swallow up to knees, the chomp and swallowing shown from the inside, a soft slippery walls accompanied with nice squishy sounds! The guy freed himself by blasting a hole in centipedes throat. The same centipede appears in ep2 too, but don't eat anyone.

source- THE VIOLINIST OF HAMELEN MOVIE OVA 1996. Note its one big mangas didn't get attention it deserved from the 90s! ran from 1989 all way to 2001.

Note to those that have never heard of this series neither did i, till a friend reccomended to me cause i am fan slayers, but this series is tonely similar to slayers but made by different creator, the ova is more in line with comical tone of the manga than the tv series which also see on youtube, which extreme dark due director being one also did, Giant Robo, G Gundam, and Shin Mazinger

this sorta side story in between main characters quest to rid world of demons that were unleashed onto world by pandora, once and for all! Kinda remeniscent bit of dragon quest bit to other just slayers comparision again, i going warn guys if watch this and like it watch tv series note they is extreme tonal shift and like night and day alot people hate series for that reason, this defintely a 90s property that deserves a 2nd chance at proper adaption!

Ps. I watched the tv series but apparently i heard more monsters especially female ones so possible, in the manga, but the tv series, has absobutely none, and is way to dark and violent for its source material in fact bit to overly dramatic and depressing as well.

I recomend the movie ova and manga but anime tv series unless into real dark gritty fantasy anime, mean so tonely out place for rest the source material why alot people hate it.
