Is there a market for professional, paid Roleplay?

Postby Marked » Sat May 26, 2018 4:40 pm

I had the thought strike me today that i’ve Never seen anyone advertising Paid RP time. What I mean is one partner paying the other for their time, and in return the professional partner would act in whatever way possible to please the customer.

Part of me is glad this isn’t a common practice. It makes sense because vore is pretty niche: not many people who don’t like vore would roleplay to make money from it. On the other side, there is a lot of people who can’t find reliable, literate and interesting rp partners, so that arrangement might be helpful for people looking for something specific, like IRL woman playing press.

What do you guys think? Would you ever pay for an RP? What if it was the best rp ever? Does paying defeat the point of RP as a way of being intimate with others?

I'd not be surprised if there are people who would pay for this. Writing commissions are not uncommon, after all.

What a coincidence, I was just talking about this kind of thing with my friend yesterday. I'd told her I was considering paying for someone to vore RP with me since I'm so picky with my partners... but I'd decided I would need to ask a mod first if it was okay, and I wouldn't know how much to pay for it either.

There was a guy on SecondLife offered paid roleplay years ago. Everyone laughed at him, it was pathetic.

I would actually be surprised if there wasn't. but you don't have to waste the time or the money looking. there are a ton of people on this site that like to roleplay in pretty much anyway you can think of.

What was pathetic about that? I’m actually curious if there’s a stigma to paying for RP?

what was pathetic about it is that there was this place world.secondlife.com/group/5ecfeae2-3ab9-5f15-1bb0-a8b6360b6d3f which was a place were people who liked or loved vore could go for free and talk, roleplay or even be eaten if they wanted to. there was also a place called simply as the jungle which was another free place.

Probably not, unless you're in a place where it's exceedingly uncommon. People used to charge gold per hour for ERP on world of warcraft, or so people like to claim, but outside of that and places like SL I don't see it being something that'd happen often or something that'd be particularly lucrative.

So there was plenty of opportunity for free RP, but what’s wrong looking for a more verbose partner, or someone who will do very specific scenes? I would call it pathetic maybe if that guys was wandering around asking anyone to do stuff with him.

I think that is one part of what he was doing, I thing the other part is that he was doing it at places where it was 100% free to get into.

also if you have second life downloaded ono your computer. open it up look at the magnifying glass shape. that like most other places is the search section. search the word vore and see what you get. the first one I got was second life vore club. one of their rules is must have consent to roleplay.

There's actually a rather infamous troll within the Second Life vore community who's repeatedly gotten banned, but still continues coming back with alts. He always copypastas the exact same creepy pickup lines, and occasionally he'll offer some huge amount of money for people to RP with him (the equivalent of about $100 in real money) and giving a clearly photoshopped screenshot of his account balance as "proof" that he has the means to pay, but of course he never actually pays up.

But yeah, there's plenty of people who would gladly give a nice verbose RP just because it's fun, and not expecting any kind of pay. You just gotta poke around a bit and get yourself out there too. :gulp:
There also used to be a couple places that had "escorts" working for tips, so I guess that sort of counts as paying for RP.

Thanks for your information. Yeah a troll makes much more sense now from what I've heard other people say about that fellow. Weird.
I'm not looking for RP at the moment; if anything, I'd be offering the service (if I ever get a break from my day job). I just simply had the thought pop into my head and thought it would be good for a discussion.

I imagine there's probably a market, but finding the market will be tough since you'll be competing against all the free roleplayers on this site and others. I mean, trying to find people willing to commission short stories is hard enough and that doesn't even take any effort on their part once they've given me what they're looking for. Then you also have to figure out how payment works. Are they paying per hour? Per scene? Per post? Do they pay via Paypal first? What if someone has to disconnect mid-scene because of Real Life™? What if schedules don't align? What if they're unhappy with the way the scene is going? There's lots to consider.

You'd most definitely also want to compile a list of things you absolutely won't do.

For your questions... personally, despite having a growing "Wants" list for stuff I'd like to do in a vorish RP, I don't think I'd personally pay someone for a scene. I might be tempted if I had some spare cash and it was really cheap, but I feel it'd be unlikely at best. Granted, I could just write myself a story if I got desperate enough for something on my list, so I'm probably cheating a bit in those regards. But... there are those paid "phone sex" hotlines and all those bots bothering you on chat services trying to get you to fork over money to watch their porn and stuff, so I'm sure the market for paid vore RP is out there somewhere.

Around, there's at least one in this thread who has commissioned me before.

I regularly get commissions. I have a line of about 4 right now. I just created a lot of free content and studied what got stories more views. Eventually people came to me who like my particular style. A lot of my repeat customers are in tune with what I like and it's wonderful fleshing out their ideas. Best gig ever.

Paid rp seems odd to me though. Writing commissions are quite different. You have as much time as you need to edit and rework. To consider every aspect and modify afterwords to make things fit.

Rp is on the fly and you can't go back to change anything. It's more like improv than anything. I could see it happening but I imagine it would be more like cam girls that have a smaller, more close and intimate following as opposed to being a wank fest.

I think the best way to go about it would be to showcase your rp'ing in a public fashion to get people to want to be the person on the other end of you. Which isn't unlike how I've built up my commission queue. But here I am giving away biz advice for free.

Hello, it's me.

A good idea is to usually ask a writer if they're up for commissions. I can only work on a few at a time, and I don't really ever get stuff done when I say I should, but I have some nice clients.

What ryan said is right though. It depends on the stories and whether or not the writer is really up for it. My audience is usually in tune with me, so I have no problem with the commissions I get.

I get commissions when I bother to write stories on my own. These days, I haven't been doing much writing at all on any front, so it's for the best that nobody's trying to pay me for it.

There is a form of paid fetish roleplay. On the phone, clients pay service of professional fetish roleplayers who basically roleplay with the clients on the fetish chosen by them like bdsm or vore. Do not remember how this is called though as I only saw an article on it where one of the professional talked about it.
