Theorising (or remembering) why we got into vore?

Postby Marco » Tue Dec 04, 2018 4:51 pm

I myself know that the thought of being eaten appealed to me as a young child of about five or so, obviously long before I'd even heard of vore, and I've tried to think about what could have made me decide "Yes, I like this", but I'm never sure as it happened so long ago. It is likely that it has something to with the fact that the idea that it was possible to be swallowed alive (and that that was the only possible way to get eaten, despite knowing how to eat actual food at the time) was implanted in my mind by cartoons, and I know that at least two cartoons I saw (I can't think of anymore that did this) made it obvious that the prey was still alive after being eaten (and that was enough to make me imagine that whenever a character got eaten, they were still alive, even if the show didn't want us to think that.)

This makes me feel like I probably started to like the idea of being eaten, because of a curiosity as to what it must be like to be inside someone's stomach, and that the more I thought of it, the more I wanted it to happen, but I just can remember now if that's how it happened. It was so long ago, I can't remember what I thought the first time, I just know that it led to me wanting to get eaten, yet even then, I knew that I was unwilling prey, again before I had even heard of the term - I imagined myself not wanting to be eaten, and that being eaten was a bad thing, even though "out of character" as it where, I actually wanted it to happen. Maybe that's because it was treated as a bad thing in the show, and the fact that something bad was happening to these characters appealed to me, when I imagined it was me? I realise it's weird, but as long as it's something that has "that" kind of affect on me (like vore or a type of entrapment) I enjoyed imagining that it was me it was happening to.

Does anyone have any idea how they started, or are you like me, and can only guess at what started it all for them.

I can remember that weird 'so comfortable it's uncomfortable WTF is this' feeling as a kid whenever someone mentioned the word belly (always belly, never anything else related to the digestive system or even the mouth). I also always enjoyed books like the Dragonriders of Pern series or the Heralds of Valdemar series, both of which entail forming a deep bond with someone/something. That bond plus the weirdness with belly (again, why just that one word? I want answers, brain!) kinda made for the perfect storm. Something more recent, I think the desire for having someone I could trust plays into the fetish. Who else can you trust more than a person who eats you and can refrain from digesting you?

The first piece of vore material (pornagraphic at least) was a four-image sequence from the Legend of Zelda of a Zora either AV or UBing link. For non-pornagraphic, that's got to be the Muppet Show; I coudn't tell you how many times something eats something else in that glorious bit of madness.

I think the reason I got into vore in the first place came from my childhood ambition to be a doctor. I always had a weird fascination with the human body but then it dwindled down to just interest in stomachs, like how they work, why they made the sounds they did, why they were soft, etc. Also, shows that had episodes focused on food, or getting eaten were just interesting to me. Plus I've always liked the way people describe it in fanfics and how they made it seem like a nice cozy place to be. It was relaxing, and I also enjoy the audio people make as well.

I remember exactly how. When I was little, my mom took me to church with her. I was way too young to actually sit through a sermon, so I went to the nursery. In the back of the nursery, there was a giant orca plush that was about seven feet long, with the story of Jonah attached. I was a wee one, about 5 or 6, and this thing was double my height. I crawled inside and stayed there, sometimes even bringing in blankets and pillows, until my mom came back to pick me up. Something in me wanted to stay in the whale. I named him Henry, and on a Wednesday in winter, he was the thing that kept me warm in a power outage at the church. My mom stopped going when I was about seven, abandoning Henry in a church in Alabama.

Imagine my surprise when a decade later, I find that same orca on Amazon for $150. Needless to say, I'm gonna be reunited with Henry someday!

I remember exactly what it was: it was the Magic School Bus episode about digestion when they went inside Arnold's stomach. Literally everything I love that's belly related came from that.

I have to say, that is so adorable. I'd get that for my kids if I wasn't a guy with a weird fetish. and, ya know, married with kids.

I always thought it was this one comic that innocent lil ol me saw that was Pauline and other Nintendo Girls eating each other
However, when I think of it, I've always been intrigued by it. Maybe it was the fairy tales I used to read, like Little Red Riding Hood and Jack in the Beanstalk. It led me to have weird fantasies like a village that lives in the belly of a giant.
I never thought of it in a sexual way until puberty I guess.

I'm not exactly sure when I started fantasizing about it, but I vividly remember enjoying that scene from Men In Black 2 where Serleena swallowed a guy and walked out from behind the bush with her big belly. I rewatched that movie a lot.

After seeing that, I just kinda toyed with the idea in my head. I would draw silly little comics with actual storylines (usually involving cartoon animals and stuff, with a few involving humans as well), and occasionally someone got eaten. My family just laughed and thought they were silly, so they never figured it out.

I guess it always lingered in my mind, but I blame Serleena, lol.

I want to say my first vore experience was the frog boss in Yoshi's Island. I went to my cousin's house who had an SNES and I saw that particular scene and it became embedded in my mind. There was just something strange about being inside another thing that I hadn't yet been prepared to encounter and something that's stuck with me ever since. I would later take cushions off of my couch and place myself between them on the floor and make myself into a bit of a sandwich and pretend that there were hungry people around me wanting to eat me (I know that at one point it was Tiny from Donkey Kong 64 for some inexplicable reason). I also used to pretend that the playground at my elementary school was actually another female character (Ed from Cowboy Bebop, if I remember correctly; I was a weird kid) and I climbed into her stomach through a tube slide and fought my way back out. At this time, I was hanging out with my friend who played along.

It's actually somewhat embarrassing recalling all this because I haven't thought about it in years and reflecting on just what it was that excited me as a kid who hadn't yet learned what "vore" truly is reminds me that I've done a lot of growing since then. It's like friends/family gawking at your naked baby photos... but, that's the nature of this thread and I feel like contributing, so that's a price I'll pay.

But obviously (and less embarrassingly) there was also stuff like Agumon swallowing that fish. I remember wanting to see that episode again after that, but it never came on.

Another person to say this! God, why is this so common?!* I swear, since I was little, my stomach was a source of insecurity for me. Whenever I'd eat cereal and feel the cold milk hit me there, I'd shiver and stop eating. I was always told never to get fat and I associated fat with having a belly. Thinking about girls and knowing they've got stomachs and that I shouldn't look or think about them (I blame my mom covering my eyes during Bally Total Fitness commercials for this "forbidden fruit") complicated things. Why, even during this whole "World Culture" experiment we had going on at my elementary school, they brought in a belly dancer to show us some things - and while everyone else watched and enjoyed the show (including my closest friend), I looked away in shame to protect my innocence. Even the word "belly" made me extremely uncomfortable.

Then I grew up and became just independent enough to think on my own and engage with the internet. It was around this time that I actually began seeking out this "forbidden fruit" and it became an infatuation for me. So, in short, I blame my sheltered childhood for my interests. If bellies were just allowed to be what they are with nothing else tied to it ("thou mustn't!"), I wouldn't consider them as having any sexual relevance whatsoever. This is not the case, and now I yearn for the days where "belly" made me so uncomfortable.

*fist pump* You get your whale.

I'm genuinely happy for you and I'd actually like to see what this Henry looks like. Heck, if I had the funds, I'd help make that dream a reality.

Like many others, I remember vore being prevalent in cartoons and video games. However, the effects of those alone would have just been silly one-offs and never really etched themselves in my mind. I never knew what embedded vore in my mind until one day a childhood memory came out of nowhere. I remember being traumatized by the idea of being eaten and digested alive by a children's book called "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" around the age of 9. Not much later, I also recalled from my earlier vore days that fetishes can develop from trauma. That book is what planted the idea of being eaten alive, however that scenario alone is not what fetishized vore. I'm pretty certain my mind had to resort to cartoon scenarios of being eaten alive and surviving it to cope and let me be otherwise fairly normal for the most part. The first vore scene that really sexualized this strange fantasy is still that scene from "Dude, where's my Car?" with the giantess swallowing a guy, but vore planted itself in my mind 3-5 years before that just not as a fetish.

here's a relevant thread to this.

I don't know. I guess it started out as a thought of "how does it feel like to be covered in something soft all over your body?" Back then, I was weirdly hooked into quicksand and the thought of just being inside it and covered by it was just plain weird but I liked it. But as those thoughts developed I slowly thought of something different like "Is it possible for a human being to be whole and alive inside another living being?"

Sooner or later, I started searching about it, and I remember I saw this one video on youtube which was like a very poorly made MMD of what looked like a Hunter Gamma from Resident Evil eating a loli or something. It was weirdly arousing, so to speak.

Much much later I saw a comic out of nowhere that really started it all. "Vore House of Klyneth" That thing really got me hooked into this weird thing. And then I tried to search what 'this' was and I just looked at the title of Vore House of Klyneth and thought "Hmm... Maybe.... 'Vore?' " It turns out it's an actual fetish and that there's a whole lot of people who are into this as well.

I remember just searching in DeviantArt for this because it was the only website that I actually trust. I often saw Eka's Portal or Rule34 or Furaffinity but I didn't really bother because I kinda don't wanna go to some random website that I don't know. A few years later, I did go to Eka's and it was the best decision that I've made. Finding a whole website dedicated to vore and vore only. Damn...

Anyway, that's about it.

Hm. My reasons seem a lot more vague. I don't recall any particular thing on TV giving me the idea, but I used to love being as buried in blankets as possible, and I think I got the idea of a stomach being similar on my own. Though it became more sexual and specific as I matured, and I think vore became a lot more about security and intimacy than just comfort as I grew into an environment where I'd really like more security and intimacy.

I recall as a child, being fascinated by cartoons and comics that featured characters being eaten/swallowed alive. Not fascinated in a sexual way, but in a excited and "tingly" way.
Another similar and interesting topic of discussion, would be the psychological reasoning behind vore. Such as why and how the fetish is developed in a person
