Fifty Shades of Prey?

I did not believe my girlfriend when she said that Fifty Shades of Grey was a remarkably poorly written book. So she played the audiobook for us.

Three chapters in, I can tell you that the average (even substantially below-average) piece of hot and heavy horny teen fanfic smut that is written on Eka's is astonishingly better than that piece of literary....specialness.

But there is something that I couldn't shake as I listened to it. As I listen to the main character describe Christian Grey and how he treats and talks to her, it hits me: It's written from the perspective of a prey! Seriously! Listen to it and tell me that Christian is not a pred. I brought it up to my girlfriend and she couldn't un-hear it. It fits so well holy crap.

I'm not saying that this trainwreck was written by a closet voreaphiliac, (though if E.L. james comes out as one I freaking called it) and I do absolutely know the difference between BDSM and vore, but it fits too well to not at least bring it up.

I agree with you on the link between bondage and vore (hell its part of the reason I am here)

with the quality of the writing, I will take it at your word as I have not read fifty shades (nor do I particularly plan to)

would you care to explain the link to me further as I think it would be an interesting topic to discuss

The only audio version of Fifty Shades of Gray worth hearing is Gilbert Gottfried's reading of it.

Honestly the way I learned about most of the plot is though lost in adaptation:

And after hearing the whole plot and how some of the developments turn out, I'd say Cristian isn't a pred... or at least not intentionally. The writer wrote the first book not even knowing what being in a dom/sub relationship is like, and by the end of it you find out that Christian
Spoiler: show
is actually a broken abuse victim after being molested in his childhood who's trying to replicate the treatment he received on women he dates. And it's not just the main gal that gets this treatment, but one of his toys from before he met her comes back... the poor ex-sub is a mentally mangled mess that tries to kill the main girl.
I'll agree he's predatory and may have that nature, but I'm willing to say he's not really a pred... And that the writer had no idea what she was writing about.

Edit: ...although this revalaion does give me hope for most of the writers on this site to go and make their fortune.

I mean, the pred/prey dynamic borrows a lot from the more mainstream dom/sub mechanic, so that's not really a surprise, I would think.

Also, I do feel like one of the main problems, both with Fifty Shades and the stuff on this site (and I've been guilty of it too, believe me) is, uhh... I guess it's okay to write while only listening to what's between your legs, but it's still important to let your brain go over it and decide if it's actually a good story or not. Of course, a lot of stories like this are written solely to appease sexual fantasies, so if that box is checked, it's considered finished. It's fine on places like this where people just write for the sake of lewds, but... for a bestseller with a film adaptation and everything, the bar tends to be much higher, one would think.

This 100% this ^

I find that there can be a lot of similarities, for me vore and size play is just one of the ultimate fantasies regarding such a scenario. But I like BDSM in general.

50 shades of grey is utter trash though xD but OP made some interesting points

See, I haven't gotten far enough in the plot to make a firm statement in regard to the plot overall, but it's more in the exact wording the author uses.
