Except that out of those only vampires can really be classified as inherently erotic, and then again the way the eat people is more by draining them of their life force. I agree with the sentiment that consumption of an individual and sex can be associated in myths (the sirens of greek mythology come to mind), but it definitly isn't a forgone conclusion.

Considering it was mentioned in the 'gay furry project 2025 hack' I don't think it will be under the radar for much longer anyhow. It's been the most searched for term on Furaffinity and it's a lot more popular of a kink than people are aware of. Considering how exotic the concept is to normal human life it isn't too hard to see the thrill appeal, and the inherently sexual nature of the act both physically and emotionally make it kind of hard not to sexualize. As furry stuff continues to grow more popular it's also somewhat of an inevitable 'topic' to arrive at. If you're going to have your bunny-people in your animal movie reproducing like bunnies the logical next step is to introduce them to the foodchain.
Those text logs between the gay furry hacker and the republican politicians were fucking hilarious, it was like seeing bugs bunny troll the hunter (forgot his name).
Vore as a community is definitly big. Not huge like foot fetish, but definitly sizeable enough to be known within erotic and more general internet circles.
I don't think furaffinity is representative of the general population on that note since there's a lot of overlap between the furry community and the vore community.
I think it's known by the general public mostly for the shock and meme value, rather than some kind of universal thrill appeal.
