Where do people come from (World-Building)

So vore... it's real.

Or at least, when writing stories in a world with a consistent background, the question of where people come from is real.

Genetic modification to reduce the population. Magic. Parallel universe. However it happened, people still have to come from somewhere. It sort of dawned on me that maybe some kind of unbirth makes men obsolete.

Imagine this: Instead of finding a man, a woman just has to unbirth someone, and that can turn them into like 5 new people. The new people are mix of the predator and the unbirth prey. Maybe they eventually remember who they were a little bit before being, you know, unbirthed into new people - it speeds things up to use the old brain to rebuild the new. (I often think that the government raises / schools everyone, which removes underage from the story at the same time as letting woman have as many kids as they want, but I digress.)

Or maybe she digests her prey as usual (oral vore), but she can turn them into a cluster of new people instead of bigger tits and ass. Maybe it requires a man for the traditional reasons, or maybe it happens if you get too aroused during the digestion process... I dunno.

In all seriousness, I'm curious what people think of this bit for the sake of world-building.

Usually I don't see unbirth as an explanation for where people come from. Whether or not we count the person who comes out as the same one who went in, Unbirth-as-Age-Regression generally does not increase the number of people in the world, and does nothing to mitigate population loss from other forms of vore or "regular" death. Your idea of using the unbirthed prey as material to make multiple offspring from is not entirely new, but is exceedingly rare in vore fiction, and used by predators who are quite inhuman in many ways.

In my mind, the explanation for where people come from is either "Same as before, but people and culture evolve to have more children at a time" and/or "Women start evolving to be able to have children parthenogenically, like whiptail lizards." The latter does remove the need for a man.

Honestly, I tend to stick with the Normal Approach, where eggs and sperm are needed, although Magic/Science could be involved to help create others, via Cloning, Artificial Insemination, Magical Pregnancy, and so on.

Still, I tend to reform prey in most of my stories.

Fun fact: Option number 4 (Woman turn things or people they digest normally into their offspring, no man required) is exactly where yoshis come from in Mario games.

Where babies always come from.

Mainly because the whole vore-rebirth thing is a part of the fetish I am not into so I hardly think about it. So pregnancy in my vore setting works as it does in the real world.

This usually isn't something I even consider in my worldbuilding, except when this question comes up. When it does, there's a few options I like that come to mind.

This isn't part of any story I've published, but there's this one fantasy setting I have where the Goddess of the world created many of its original people (who happen to be immortal in the sense that they don't age or get sick as humans do) using her divine power, and those people are capable of creating more in a cutesy, somewhat whimsical girl-making factory. Furthermore, many spontaneously come into existence when the population of a given area dips too low. In this fantasy setting, that's just the way the world works, and people accept it just like people from this world accept the reality of biological reproduction.

I don't put much stock in keeping things scientifically plausible, partly because I consider Terran science irrelevant when we're talking about alternate realities (particularly fantasy settings) and partly because I think it greatly limits what is actually possible in a story.
