Role playing peeves
I posted this in another forum, and thought that I would repost it here also. I think it might really help if people list. And because I havent posted it enough, don't name names.
"Okay, first off, I want to state plainly, no naming ANY names. You'll find out why soon enough.
I am wondering about what everyone hates other people doing in RP's. I don't mean are annoyed by, but seriously despise whenever it happens. Again, no naming anyone's names. I hope that people who read through the coming responses find this thread as a learning experience instead of something offensive. Now, if you get offended easily when people talk about your style of RP, then stop reading now. Because I do expect this might get pretty harsh.
And any mods, if you don't think this is appropriate, I'm okay with deletion. And if you see anyone naming names, please remove or edit their post. I seriously dont want anyone to talk about anyone else. Oh, and no refrencing anyone specific either.
Now, for what I absolutely can't stand, but put up with and some timems am forced to do: People who describe a feeling that they would never be able to feel. Example-"*feels his stomach fill up with acids*" or anything like that."

My personal peeve is lazy RPers. The ones where you will write a good paragraph describing in lucious detail exactly what you are doing to them, and the best they can respond with is. "I squirm." Yes this mostly comes from prey and I know there is not much that can be done when you are at the mercy of a predator. But for goodness sake at least scream a little or something. These are the same ones that won't help you set a scene or anything...and often don't have a good character in mind("Yeah...I'm a guy...wearin a shirt.")
Anyway, had to be one of the first to jump on this one. I could even come up with a few other peeves...like people forcing you to conform to their particular niche...or worse yet slipping it in on you. But I'm gonna let others rant.

My pet peeve... the best way to describe it is with a certain instance. I was RPing a pred, and had the prey intimidated. Then, still in character, the supposed-to-be unwilling prey told me how they wanted me to eat them, in a way that just kinda.. screwed the tone of the RP. I guess this -kinda- goes with others forcing thier specific niche, as the post above me said. If your prey character is unwilling... keep them that way. Yeah, I understand vore is often sexual, and there might be some "enjoyment" along the way, but please, if the prey is unwilling keep them that way. It doesn't make sense for a character to be running from you in a panic until caught, and then suddenly start enjoying it. I'm not saying there's nothing bad about -willing- prey, just that unwilling should stay unwilling.
Okay, I was probably abit redundant with saying some of those things, which will probably turn out to be someone else's peeve. x.X;' Sorry.

Potatoes. Can't stand them. Please, if you're thinking about putting potatoes in your RP session with me, warn me so that I can hit you with something hard and blunt, which would change drastically depending on what RP we're currently involve in.
Sorry if you wanted to keep this serious, but other than abbreviations or constant bad grammar I don't really have any peeves. And I don't think anybody here has the problem I just mentioned, at least not in excess... I don't even mind the abstract feelings issue, in fact I think it's very neat in certain instances. Who's to say certain preds can't feel their stomach filling with acids? If they can swallow someone whole without damaging their esophagus then maybe they have nerves in their stomach. Though it does have a time and a place, I'll agree with that. And character continuity, definately a plus.

Hmmm Pet peeves......
Short replies I.e. * I swallowed you*
I like details. Lots of details. And I do nto mind waiting while somoen puts together a decent sized response.
bad grammer or internet spelling. I.e. how r u, l8r and the like.
Drives me NUTS!! I know that not everyone's native tongue is English, so willing to let a lot slide, but if I KNOW you can type better, It drives me nuts...
Power plays.
HAving an unstoppable charecter. I tried it once and got basically booed out of the chatroom I was in. Was a good leanring experiance. Also, I hate it when during an rp I go from being prey to pred or vice versa.
Charecter switches mid RP (Yes i have had it happen.)
Charecter changes personality, Like unwilling then willing all of the sudden after getting cornered or whatever.
And Potatoes, I hate potatoes........
All I have to say....For now anyway.

This one will sound really messed up, and selfish, but I doubt there is a guy in this forum who wont at least partially agree with me...
My biggest pet peeve is when girls go into the Role Playing chats, not just this one, but chats all over the place, and I am not talking about the general chats, but the chats that are FOR role playing, and just lurk the whole time, or even worse spend the whole time making small talk with different people and not role playing.
Its hard enough to find any girls most places, but I really doubt that she can't find a guy who is into her thing in a role play specific room. Guys in role play chats become very flexible, mostly because we have to be, so its just really annoying when a girl goes into a room and just yammers on about how funny she thinks the word "caterpillar" is, or what she did over the weekend. The sad thing is that tons of guys go along with it, hoping that if the type enough LOLs after her every word, that she might RP with them eventually.
I know what some people are thinking, "what if she doesn't want to role play with some one that she hasnt gotten to know first, you selfish bastard"
To that I say, give me a break, do I have to buy you dinner before we do our thing? Do I have to love the same lame ass movies and shitty musical groups that you do? What is this, real life dating? Its the internet, and one of the great things about it is that people are anonymous and detached from you. Thats why we dont mind admiting to being turned on by horses that have huge DD cup human tits, because the other person is no more than words on a screen. I have found that the less you know about some one the better, and that applies to real life too.
Anyway, thats my pet peeve.

Nothing wrong with power character, all you have to do is ignore them and they have to go away. After all, it is vore, one side is supposed to lose, sometime it get over the pred's head, forgive them.
The only thing I really like is detail, I do hate those lack of detail and post that doesn't tell me what happened clearly, but that really is it.

Peeves...?
...Mmmrrph. Everyone gets some eventually, I've got my share. They're weird, though. :3
First Peeve: Someone who refuses to roleplay with you at all (Not talking vore or sex, just a conversation or a friendship) because of your race and/or gender...or interests, et cetera. That's more a peeve for me in general, regarding prejudice, than anything else.
Another peeve...when someone cuts off a roleplay because it's 'not working' for them. I can understand people choosing not to participate in certain activities. I respect that. Hell, I encourage choice like that, having suffered from being unable to exercise it myself in the past. But I'm talking about people who abandon a roleplay just because something they want to happen...isn't happening. Such as people who walk away from me when they find out I'm not one for a quick 'fuck, suck, and separate forever' scenario .
Oooh...here's a really weird one. I hate to set up a scene beforehand. I'm an open roleplayer. I, personally, deal with whatever happens :3 and though I don't require the same of others, I tend to dislike saying "well, this will happen, and this will happen", no matter the circumstances! A broad outline is fine "This roleplay takes place here, at this time"... but when it gets down to designing the actions beforehand, one just takes all the spontenaiety out of it.
I could go on, but I'll stop :3

I would have to agree. Making sure before you start an rp about what is going to happen can be a bad thing, however, making ones preferances known is a good thing.

Never roleplayed vore before...im not really a voreaphille i just find it hilarious in some instances like in Karbos art, or rather somone who incorperates humor into the usualy monotonous "Just eat them" Vore theme...
Anyway that was off topic....i really hate people who make their chacter invincible to one thing. Like this one time i was roleplaying and resorted to powerplaying by putting their charrie in a unimaginable hell and torturing them. The reply was that their charrie enjoyed hell and was immune to pain....his only weakness was fire and that pissed me off beyond beleif and then she blocked me

Hmmm... Never really been afflicted with powerplaying that much. Although it has happened a few times I have witnessed. But aside from my first mentioned peeve, I'd probably say quick scenes. Or actions that do ALOT in one post. I dont want to be swallowed in a single post without being able to respond or anything like that. Oh and when the other person doesn't pull their own weight in the scene. There are some things that only the prey should describe and some things only the pred should describe.
Oh, and another thing I absolutely despise on every level. When people randomly PM me asking me my preferences, or if I'm pred or prey. I know some people like to just rp and thats it. But I myself find it annoying and callous, and only play with people I get to know atleast somewhat.

As with power players, I think it works in certain instances. Face it- a frail human is not gonna stand a chance against a fifty meter dragon. Probabl couldn't scratch one, much less cause significant pain. But in other instances... and I've mostly seen this out of people who are obviously "Dragon Ball Z" (or other various anime where characters are given just a ridiculous amount of power) fans- characters who can't be hurt no matter what. They always have some kind of reason that whatever specific thing won't hurt them.

Power players have a place, along with everyone else. Though when they over due it is when I get annoyed.
I have to agree that a 50 foot dragon is going to win out against a normal human. However, having charecters that are unstoppable (Like various Anime charecters are) Is no fun.... What fun is it to be a dragon or some other powerful beast and get into an rp with someone only to get your tail kicked because you can not hurt them?
I have a power charecter, though he is only part of a story line that connects all my charecters together. I only play with him against people who are power players. it is fun, to a point.

I have lots of those! I'll only hit the major ones, though.
First, the weird one: Being called "wolfen." Though the original reason this bugged me has long since been resolved, I still feel really uneasy when anyone calls me that.
Next: Mistreatment of non-player characters for entertainment/pleasure in my presence. If it's unrelated to me, I can tolerate it and leave wherever it's going on without saying anything, but if I'm involved, I _will_ freak out and likely start screaming at whoever is doing it. I'm really, really bothered by cruelty in general, but for whatever reason, it bugs me a lot more when it happens to a 'throwaway' character.
Next: Mocking of micros. Honestly, I'd be micro most of the time IC if it didn't mean getting insulted for it constantly. I don't know why it is, maybe people think all micros are subs who like being treated condescendingly or something, but it doesn't apply to me. Now, if it's easy to tell it's jokingly done, I've got no problems with it, and can even enjoy it. I just don't like the whole cruel, condescending thing.
And the biggest, number one pet peeve: "Who's character is it?" Basically, when people make really, really big assumptions about my character. Not stuff like assuming I have whiskers (I don't) or assuming I smell like a wolf as opposed to my actual smell (a desert thunderstorm) but stuff like assuming I have caustic fluids in my stomach that immediately start dissolving prey in an horrifically painful fashion (I feed on pure energy; my digestive tract is modified and vestigial) or assuming I'm a drama queen because I'm a wolf. (Just because it's true doesn't mean it's a nice thing to assume! )
One interesting little note: I violate a pet peeve of a lot of people, but manage to do so in a way that they rarely, if ever, know it: god-moding. My IC self is not overpowered to the point of godliness, it is, in fact, a god. IC, I can do anything I want in theory, I merely follow a set of internal rules to which I can only show I'm more than a size-shifting critter with an odd way of digesting things is if I'm absolutely positive the other person isn't going to mind, or if I must perform some special feat to get out of a situation I really don't want to be in. Outwardly, I appear highly vulnerable, when in truth, (physically) no one can do anything to me that I don't allow.

I would like to clarify one thing about godmoding. In my opinion, Godmoding doesn't mean you literally play a god that can basically do anything he so wish. Godmoding is when you expect other player to react the way you want them to and not allow them to respond to your action properly. For example:
*I throw a bottle at you, hit your head and you fall down unconsciouses.*
That would be godmoding, while:
*I'm a god, my throwing skill is so accurate that the bottle I just threw at you will literally self guide it way into your face with impact of a running train.*
That would still -not- be godmoding, you just happen to have a very powerful character, that would be called "power gaming" instead.

Hehe. I technically do that too... At this point, Kaoru is (roughly) a middling-powerful God... but he's got his own rules and his personality pretty much keeps him from being overbearing. ...Those of you who know him and didn't know this, yeah, it doesn't show, does it? =p Nobody expects the teenage-looking kid in school clothes to have the power to make...and unmake...worlds.
Nobody expects the Angel in tennis shoes. Even if he gave up wearing them years ago. Kaoru tends to keep his power hidden, he's not exactly proud of being who and what he is. ...Unlike a real God, though, he is vulnerable, physically and spiritually and such. He's just basically only vulnerable to people he cares about, who he really just won't hurt, period. Oh, and Naman hit on another of my peeves that I neglected. Cruelty.
Sure, some people like to be cruel and figure they might as well do it to so-called 'throwaway' characters rather than another person's character, but it still bugs the hell out of me...which is why Kaoru occasionally wanders out of the main bar at TVC with a headache due to being unable to intervene.
I'd have to say that at this point, personally, people assuming things about me has gotten to be less of a 'pet peeve' and more of an 'Oh, yeah, of course it'll happen...one can only hope they'll be willing to change their opinion!'.
I play a High Angel, a Seraph, whose power has come to rest at that of a Class-C Diety. He happens to be modeled after (And is) a character from a popular anime. I could go further, but suffice to say that even that much leads to people assuming enough about me from just a glance to fill pages

When I started in the chat, I really had very few pet peeves. I've had a good number of excellent rps, and a few that have been somewhat less than that. There are a few things I've decided not to work with anymore.
Mind Control is a big one, always has been. It's alright if used properly but in the chats it never is. It's always used to turn unwilling prey into willing, and since my characters are always unwilling the whole way down, it kills the scene for me.
Immobilizers are another. I hate it when my characters are completely enveloped in some sort of substance to immobilize them or something. If my character can't struggle, it makes it much harder to play out the scene (and far less fun, too).
Paint-by-Numbers Vore would be the third. I dislike it when every single scene is the same, step by step. Walk up to prey, make innuendo about eating them, prey figures it out, pred jumps prey, swallow head, swallow shoulders, swallow chest, swallow hips, tongue the sex, swallow rest. I realize there's not a whole ton of ways to actually rp the encounter, but some mixup would be nice from time to time.
The last thing, really more of a nagging itch than a true pet peeve, is sex. It's never been something I've really sought out in vore rp, but most people seem to involve it in scenes. To me, it just doesn't seem natural. The predator wants to devour and kill the prey, but wants to have sex with them first? It really doesn't strike me as something one would do with their food. I don't mind sex from time to time, but sometimes it just bothers me.
And potatoes. Can't have them potatoes. All those eyes...
