Dawn of Worlds RPG Vore Setting (Closed!)
Re: Dawn of Worlds RPG Vore Setting (Closed!)
Based on the wording of the 'advance civilization' action, I'm pretty sure so long as we can agree on a general tech level for the setting, we can start out at whatever tech level we like, and that action is only used to make a civilization outstanding in a given field. What sort of tech level would everyone like for the setting, bronze age, medieval, modern, somewhere in between? I'd sort of like either a bronze age or steampunk setting, personally, but we should decide on something everyone will enjoy. Also, though in my original post I said no changes would be needed for vore stuff, I've been thinking, maybe we should add a predator/prey spectrum similar to the corrupt/pure spectrum given in the RAW. What does everyone think of that?

Personally I find the Renaissance to be a nice time period considering you can have gunpowder, but swords and bows are still in use.
I wouldn't mind setting a predator/prey ratio for when we create races.

Yeah, renaissance is fun for that stuff. Plus, you've got some early clockwork tech, and when you add in fantasy elements thematic to that period there's stuff like perpetual motion machines or the flying machines and war engines Da Vinci sketched.

I don't have a problem with the renaissance. Maybe we should have the option to have more primitive groups as well, barbarian hoards are traditional after all. A predator/prey is a good idea for the races, probably not form the cites and terrain in general though.
What are we thinking for magic in this world?

Seems pretty overwhelming for limiting things to the renaissance. I'm into stuff later than that myself. But such is the blight of being slow to voice opinions.
Mayhaps the predator/prey be a static value instead of the scale presented in corruption? With the subraces being used to create an offshoot with a different tendancy instead of people burning points fighting over the vore trait in the event of pred lean and prey lean players having designs for the same race concept. Might be against the system's intent but it sounds more fun to me at least.

Well, what we could do is that once we get started, and every get their races out, we can advance the civ timeline if everyone agrees on it.

Advancing the timeline like that would be fine with me.

So would we be starting out at the renaissance or with a more traditional fantasy world set up? I'd still like to know how we plan to do magic too. Will it exist? and if so how common or easy is it?

We could start out medieval, or even lower tech than that, like stone age or bronze age. Starting lower would grant more flexibility. I think magic should definitely exist, but how common is up in the air. Magic should probably be treated as an area that can be advanced with 'Advance Civilization', though, or possibly even multiple areas for different types of magic.

Post didn't go through. Glad it got saved.
The advance civilization power does quite literally mention it includes magic. If I'm understanding the game right the prevalence of magic comes down to how much people add it. It just does a poor job of explaining how/if stuff spreads. It mentions that once the power is used it's target will always be the greatest in the field. Which implies that there is some means of places getting the same stuff. But no rule support outside of using the advance power to add the same field to another civ.

hmmm I would guess it would be a house rule if things spread and how fast, I would think a mid level spread would work, just the one paying the points in the field will have a edge and an even greater edge over those that are far away from the first findings of it and I think the same could be said about tech too, a slow spread out of it having the core city that found it be the starting point of the spread,

Yeah, I like that idea of gradual spread for both magic and tech advancements.

That being the case, does anyone else have something they feel needs discussed before we roll to see who goes first?
