I'm pretty sure it's the black bar with a white magnifying glass, it's on the top right-hand corner at the very top of the page, right next to the yellow bar that says that Chat Room stats. :)

Something I noticed the other day: I had a watch on a user who had a new piece of art up. I also had a watch on one of the tags he had put on that art. On my message page, I ended up with the same piece of art listed twice, once under the tag and once under the artist. Maybe this is intentional and/or hard to do any other way, but it might be nice if the same art only showed up once in the list.

Also, there is now a %.4f on the "Page generated in" notice. I didn't _really_ think the site had sub-nanosecond resolution on page generation times. :)

Thanks!

I use a PS3 as my main internet browser, and the gallery is now almost completely inaccessible to me on a causal searching basis.

The top of the page...

...And the bottom of the page.
Spoiler: show
Image

G3 worked fine in terms of viewing; there was only a minute issue with clicking thumbnails. I appreciate the work that went into G4, but I was curious if there was any way to overcome this issue via pointy-clicky methods. I admit, I haven't tinkered with my account settings alot, and I'm not too savvy with this sort of thing beyond the 'click this button here, and it should automatically adjust this'.

My workaround right now is performing a search for the names I remember, and somehow ending up on a random pic, but the pic itself won't show up at all. I have to click on DOWNLOAD, and it takes me to a new window to see the pic.

These sorts of things never occurred with the PS3 browser before. I guess G4 code or whatever must be quite a bit different than G3. It's disappointing, but I do wonder if my PS3 browser settings are responsible. I plan to tinker around.

Anyways, that's all I wanted to say.

...Actually, since I opened my mouth, I may as well extend my thanks to those who've made this place what it is. I don't say much, if anything, but the wealth of data I find here has made me come back again and again. There's always something new to take in. I was coming here well before I made an account, as well. Great site. I've always enjoyed it.

The server-side code and the scripting code is very different. However the HTML isn't that different. Those screenshots look almost like 'float' isn't working. I might be able to fix that by putting an invisible line that clears the floats at the bottom of the gallery view, but I'm not sure, I don't have access to that browser to investigate.

Hey, I noticed a little problem a couple times today. After I'd view a new submission I'd go back to click the little red X in the upper right corner of the new submission, but it won't delete it from there. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Just thought I'd mention it >_>

Suggestion: blacklisted tags should override everything else regarding submissions that are sent to a user. That is, if an item has a blacklisted tag, regardless of the other tags in it, it should automatically be removed from one's submission list.

Suggestion: We shouldn't be able to watch ourselves, or get submissions that match our watched tags, but are our own submissions. That's...kinda narcissistic. X3

I noticed this too. What seems to be happening is that when you mouse over the red X, the red X *sometimes* gets a black border around it; once it has the black border, if you click, it will delete that item. If the red X doesn't get the black border, clicking on it won't do anything. It may be related to the shape of the thumbnail of the picture or story; if the thumbnail/story box is "too close" to the red X, the red X won't get the black border.

I have attached an image that I made from several screenshots that tries to show the difference.

Not all latest images show up at the latest updates list on the 'Site summaries' page, but only on the 'Latest updates' full list page.
It seems to happen only with artists who I watch, but that may just be coincidence.

I think this must be a bug since it did not happen before. Yesterday morning all uploads done by artists I watch appeared on the 'Site summary' page. The problem with uploads not showing up began yesterday afternoon. At that time point there were other problems with the gallery (page loaded slowly, and I couldn't upload art). Those other problems seems fixed now, but the bug may have happened then.

EDIT: I think I've got an idea what it is. It seems related to settings done by the artists themselves. When they have "registered users" in their view permission settings, the art doesn't show up on the Site summary page, only on the full list page. Maybe this is intentional (Site summary page shows only uploads which can be viewed by everybody), or maybe it's a bug (it would have been better if the two pages are matching) .. ?

Another bug/complaint. Submission names are truncated at 24 characters on the "new submissions by watched users" page, but nowhere else; on average, about 1/3 of all watched submissions go over this limit, and it's annoying not being able to see the whole title of the submission until I visit the page. I copied a few examples into an image, attached below.

Also, clicking on a submission in your watched list also selects the submission (that is, ticks the check box for that image), for deletion or whatnot, and, upon hitting the back button, it's still selected. It did not do this under G3. Minor gripe, but I'd like to see it fixed.

I get almost exactly the same look on my userpage with Iceweasel 3.5.16 on Debian. I have made a discovery, though. I have a plugin called "Image Zoom" that lets you magnify or reduce any image on a page. When I select the copy of my avatar that's right next to the "Watch" and "PM" buttons, and reduce it to 50% of normal size, things improve a lot, as attached.

Looking at the source, the div that this copy of the avatar lives in looks like this:
<div style="float: left;"><img style="width: 120px; height: 111px;" class="avatar" src="http://aryion.com/forum/download/file.php?avatar=5335.png"></div>
If I follow that link, the PNG that gets downloaded really is 120 x 111.

I saved a copy of the HTML and adjusted the width and height in the style tag to 100px each; that makes the page look good. Setting them both to 110px makes the page look strange again (like AntonChanning's). Working in between, 105px x 105px and 102px x 102px still gives a strange layout; going down to 100px x 100px makes it look good.

The new look is okay, I prefer the old one, but I have issues. Before I state them, I'll tell you this.
I mostly browse on my PS3 because my computer had overheating issues a month or so ago and I stopped browsing on it and started browsing on my PS3. I found it faster to navigate once I got used to it and more comfortable cause I'm in my room on my bed than in the living room in an office chair. Only mom (due to economic reasons, I stay with my parents and, for your information, just turned 21) has been on since and that's only for Freecell and Spider Solitare, so I do not know if there are any issues there.
But Eka's I found one, if not the easiest, site to navigate. Since the "upgrade" I can only view the last and first three things in my subscriptions, I cannot remove them, I cannot favourite, and worst of all, to see the image I have to download it, and that bugs the living crap outta me. So whatever you had on those four, I'd appreciate it if they were back.

We will look into that too

Blacklist is not going to -remove- anything. It will just add notification on the thumbnail that something is blacklisted.

you should not be able to watch yourself. There is special error message in place for that.

Watch tags wise. that is a good point perhaps.

That is pretty much it. It was like that before, too. This is not new to g4, it have been like that all these years. When the front page get a renovation this might be able to change.

Just a quick bit of feed back with regards the look of my profile page (see attachment). Not sure whats causing it.

It is due to the default font size being different on Ubuntu. That one we might not have a lot of way to deal with. We will look into it if it is a huge concern. Perhaps set a default font.

Submission names are truncated at 24 characters on the "new submissions by watched users"

I have to say that I am not a big fan of the new "search by existing tags only" thing. If the Portal needs nothing else, it needs its old search tool back.
