Re-upload is broken for text items

Postby Aces » Fri Aug 18, 2017 3:53 am

Steps to reproduce:
1. Write a story in a .doc file in OpenOffice.
2. Upload it to your gallery.
3. Later make changes to your .doc file. Save them.
4. Edit -> Manage -> Re-Upload Item -> Select the same file.
5. Upload.
6. Any icons are deleted, but nothing changes in the uploaded document.
7. A day later, still nothing changes.

Changing the file name has no effect.
Changing the file to an image and then changing it back, a previous work-around, also doesn't work. When you switch back to text, it's the same version as before.

Items I am currently trying to replace:

Have you tried a different work around for the matter?

1. Write a story in a .doc file in OpenOffice.
2. Upload it to your gallery.
3. Later make changes to your .doc file. Save them.
4. Edit -> Manage -> Re-Upload Item -> Select the same file.
5. Upload.
6. Any icons are deleted, but nothing changes in the uploaded document.
7. A day later, still nothing changes.

Instead of using edit, have you tried to reupload the modified version and waited a day later? After that, does step 6 happen, or step 7 have any changes? If so, what are those changes? Have you tried to use a different file type (.txt, master document, etc) rather than using a .docx file or .doc file?

Try those steps and give your input.
