Is there something wrong with CHYOA?

Postby notitthrowaway » Mon May 14, 2018 6:06 pm

I'm a big fan of interactive vore stories, so it really irks me that Writing.com is such a pain in the ass to use (and getting worse). I regularly visit several other interactive story locations, but have just recently started taking a look at https://chyoa.com, and to be honest it's kind of blowing me away. I don't want to sound like I'm shilling (even though I kind of am), but among other features it's got by far the best interface I've seen for similar content, it's got a decent-sized presence of transformation and other fetishes, and it's a dedicated pornographic site so there's no possibility of there being TOS squabbles like you might find on other "straight-and-narrow" sites. Unfortunately, despite all this, I can find very little vore content. Is there a particular reason people don't use it more? I know aryion has its own interactive story system, and there are some gems on here - but let's be honest, it's not exactly the gold standard for interactive story functionality (maybe one day!). CHYOA seems like the natural choice to me, so it really surprised me when I burned through what little vore I could find.

Of course, if I somehow missed something and there's way more vore on there than I thought, I'd really appreciate a push in the right direction!

I love interactives/CYOA's/text adventures, but I'd never heard of this site. So, first off, thank you for spreading the word about it.

Honestly, the lack of content is probably just because of convenience, and lack of knowledge of the site.

Reviving this, since I just heard of the site as well and can't really see why writing.com shouldn't be abandoned for this one. They seem to have looked at writing.com, taken the good parts and improved the rest. Even comments section for individual chapters.

There are a few things I'd like to ask to see if there's any trouble with it.

Pop-up ads, I don't get any security warnings from any of my gear, but pop-up ads is usually a bad thing, do they keep their shit straight? (disabling ads means disabling their income and in long run disabling the site, hence don't throw the "use ad-blocker" at me.)

Owner clarity. - On writing.com they make it absolutely clear that the writer owns the material on every single page, Here they do of course show quite clearly who posted the chapter and have a disclaimer at the bottom with no re-posting without written consent, but it's rather ambiguous if it's the poster or the site that one should ask for such where as Writing.com had the writer copy-write mark on every page.

Violence rule - They are erotica focused, which people take for a good thing around here, but I, as at best uninterested in that aspect, got concerned by the rule as a simple thing as detailed digestion might fail this rule, let alone any fighting scene in just about any setting. And I've realized that as time has gone on I've grown more and more interested in the story as that's made every voracious interaction more meaningful.
(Violence: As a general rule, try not to use an excessive amount of brutal violence. Remember this is an erotic-themed site, not a splatter/gore/violence-themed site.)

Those are my concerns at the top of my head, but otherwise it looks a lot like writing.com, favourites, recent updates, story outlines and the lot. They do have quite a few upgrade though:

-add new chapter. (meaning you can add a new chapter to any chapter and thus removing the need for something else options and not limiting the branching. The story I'm looking at now even has an initial branch for listing the characters and so far it's in the same chapter, so 12 choices from one chapter so far and the add new chapter option is also still there.)

- minimum chapter size (100 word limit, so less one line spam/request chapters.)

-comment sections (as mentioned before you can comment a chapter directly, which for writers will be much appreciated if you do.)

- text editor toolbar (meaning you can format your test, spellcheck and add links.)

Glad that animals are allowed if they pass Harkness test (if they don't it's creepy anyway). If anyone plans to start a feral animal or pokemon based one just let me know and I'll contribute the best I can.
