Hurt by Writing.com
Is anyone else here as fed up with Writing.com as I am?

Re: Hurt by Writing.com
hah... man, I left that site AGES ago. The stories here aren't great, but that site bricked one of my laptops.
I occasionally miss the bits I wrote, but there's nothing there I can't write again myself.

Back! Sorry about the long absence!

Well, those no-good bloodsucking demons who run the site kicked me out
one too many times.
I hope they all burn in Hades!

yeah I gave up on writing.com a long time ago, at least there's an archive so you can pick up p much any old story now. And Eka's has a decent interactive story system.

I keep my free account alive, but I have never really used the site. Never needed to and it seemed to lack anything to help me improve.
I love bellies! Round, Soft, hard, Prey filled, food filled, Inflated, or Pregnancy, so long as it is big and round.

They're a bunch of money-grubbing bastards and their site is actively hostile toward anyone who uses it free.

That website was always poorly designed garbage.

Re: Hurt by Writing.com
I've never interacted with the admin or mods of Writing.com, so this is not coming from someone who has seen the horrors of the site. I personally like the site since I am well acquainted with a nice community there, and (Though it is annoying) the "Can't write interactives now" thing doesn't get under my skin too much.

I’ve had a paid membership there for many years, I only have good things to say. My premium membership runs out in October of 2022, and after that, I plan on moving down to basic for $20/year. For that price you can make an interactive story that is really long, that’s a way around the problems people in this thread are mentioning. I don’t have to worry about ads interfering with my reading and writing experience.

I think this archive of Writing.com has been posted elsewhere on this site, but here it is again if you haven't seen it.

Stopped using that site a while ago. Huge pain for non-registered members.

Compare that system to Newgrounds, an imperfect yet much greater good will example. If through personal funding one can so simply disable the mental pollution, why not make that fact common knowledge by occasionally replacing the brutalist advertising with a brutalist call to patronage. Even then neither website asks you to "read and agree" to the scripts which theoretically could serve any nefarious purpose, but Newgrounds I will give credit for only relying on the same corrupt upstream sources which most of the internet has (for example, Adobe Flash). On the other hand, Writing.com will probably run unnecessary, undocumented, minified javascript whether you pay a premium or not. Since Writing.com does not even effectively pitch the premium, I assume if offering that premium ever threatened relationships with "advertisers" then that website would immediately sacrifice that "service". Efficient curation of a massive website like that by an invisible skeleton crew absolutely requires the artificially intelligent (ai) slaves peddled by so-called "advertisers".

The story which stays with me until today, started by shrinking at a doorstep then following one of three routes: one approaching someone doing calisthenics, another with a skater named Robin, or another someone in a kitchen. Perhaps the story stuck with me since the house layout felt familiar or skater culture mildly fascinated me or getting attention from someone engaged in rigorous stationary activity while shrunken piqued my interest. Another story that stayed with me involved friends bathing in a forest when a giant canine intending to drink water decides to make chase. That story gave me the impression that the feral animal attacked because the humans ignorantly dishonored the forest, however pretending as much as possible to ignorantly attack the humans. In that story, the animal plays a role like a villain uninterested in winning but giving a sensual end to who ever fails to escape while making who ever successfully escapes ponder about the consequences of ignorance (especially ignorant consumption.. lol).
I could find some stories I vaguely remember thanks to you but not the two.

Re: Hurt by Writing.com
There is very little new quality content being uploaded there now, from what I can see. I've been safe using the site, but doing so requires me to use multiple adblock layers to keep nefarious scripts out; the one time I did not take such precautions (using a laptop that hadn't been fully configured yet), it was virus celebration day.
My protections are a very extensive hosts.etc file (I use the one here: http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm )
plus uOrigin plugin, plus a PiHole on my network. And actually I was fine before the PiHole, thats mostly to give a layer of protection to my non-PC devices on my home network.
There was a time years ago when the writing content on writing.com was roughly on parity with here. Now there's no contest at all - much better writing content here, very little reason to go there, even if it wasn't for the fact that we are mostly welcome here, and mostly very much not welcome there.

Re: Hurt by Writing.com
I've used it for free. I still have a few interactives that are still up that I'm too lazy to moderate or delete anymore, but two of them still see daily additions.
And I guess someone liked them enough, because I was gifted a Premium membership until October 2022. That was an anonymous gift so I have no idea who, and considering a previous post in this thread I'm wondering if the admin is trying to pull some gaslight maneuver to get people into the site again.

Re: Hurt by Writing.com
Honestly at this rate. Shill wise, I'm more tempted in at least, using or supporting a different cite, called "CHYOA"; available here. https://chyoa.com/
Than the mess that has ultimately, become writing.com. Give or take, the "unable to see a basic map" in an interactive story. And hell knows how many more trimmed features under premium gate. To the point in which using this site's (in my view, not perfect/good on searching content?) Interactive Story feature, is hella a lot better. Than the ad bloated, mess that is writing.com.
As far as I care at this rate. It's as dead as Tumblr. And no doubt, Pornhub as well. And the worst part at this rate is, "Round Robin" grade interactive stories are in my view; far better written and created as an individual, "game" made in Twine, or some other development toolkit. Than set up in contributions. And that's a bit of a barrier...
... Then again, if the lowest entry. Is those horrible, "one sentence/paragraph" updates that goes "and then they fucked". Or micro-fiction, is probably the moment I'd be inclined to dab out...

I'm honestly really surprised that CHYOA hasn't blown up in popularity (at least within the vore community) with how people constantly complain about writing.com. I'm not a shill (at least not paid), I have no affiliation with CHYOA, but it seems basically perfect to me. Great UI, nice QOL features, and it's a website dedicated to interactive erotica so there won't be any terms-of-service problems with sexual content. I think it's also totally free? I don't know if there are any premium features.
It's baffling that everybody hasn't just moved to that site from writing.com already, it seems like the obvious choice.
