The Misadventures of Mercurial (Whitebrand and Redfield)

[Whitebrand]

Over the next couple of days both Rom and Mii would entertain Mercurial. At first Mii seemed to be worried that she would be supplanted by the Half-elf. It took a good conversation to convince her otherwise.

Brand turned up with a pair of bejeweled masks, both black to match their uniforms. He pointed out the runes etched in a decorative pattern along the edge.

"Protection from possession," he said. "And some wards to weaken the effects of infernal or abyssal entities. Don't let the runes get scratched."

He also handed Mercurial and Rom a pair lovely envelopes, each containing an elaborately decorated ticket.

"In two more days," he said. "I expect you two to look your best."

"It shall be so, Master," Rom replied instantly.

[Redfield]

"Naturally" Mercuriel stated her voice almost a purr as she sat on the edge of the bed, she admired the mask he'd made, they were simple but elegant in design, she quite liked them. The young human grinned rolling her head, it wouldn't be too long she'd enjoy a trip to the city with Rom and Brand it seemed to be quite exciting to her. She was already planning to wear her maid outfit.

Her eyes wandered over to Rom, she was glad she'd kept the girl close to her, glad she got seemed to get along with Mii. Well enough that Mercuriel was able to joke about the lamia having the slave girl for a midnight snack without too much worry. The human shifted about stretching a little "don't worry we'll look our best."

The big day game soon enough. At was almost a though time moved a bit too fast.

Brand met the girls--Mercurial, Rom, and Gayle, in his treasure museum. Brand was wearing a formal kilt and banner with all the accessories. Gayle was wearing a clingy, low-cut red dress that could have been painted on her, showing off her deep cleavage. She reminded Mercurial of Jessica Rabbit.

Rom emulated Mercurial, wearing her new maid uniform. She had taken extra care to clean both their uniforms and had fussed over Mercurial for almost an hour to make her look "just right".

Brand was grinning as he opened a suspiciously Doctor Strange-like portal for them.

"Looking stunning, ladies," he said as he shifted the image in the portal around until it showed a grand theater that was clearly celebrating a big event.

Mercurial could see crowds of people through the portal and the building itself was covered with banners and magical lights. The portal clearly opened to a. Platform that had obviously been set up for the purposes of receiving magically arriving guests.

Mercuriel had taken a moment to admire Gayle's outfit, nodding her head in approval before she looked through the portal at the large building. She turned to look at Rom, giving the slave-girl a smile "stick close, try not to get lost in the crowd" she says gently. The human girls lips curved into a smile, before she stepped through the portal, immediately she got hit by the smell, it smelt like a whole lot of perfume with the hint of a food she couldn't identify.

Her eyes gazed over the crowd, there were plenty of well dressed men and women around and more than a few people she recognised as being slaves. The human glanced to the side to look at Rom briefly before turning back to look over the crowd, humans, elves and even drow where present within the crowd plenty of them provocatively dressed. She was sure there more races here but the crowd was too thick to notice, the city seemed more open than the town had been.

"Wow, quite the crowd."

Brand stopped through with Gayle and Rom. A soon as he did the crowd applauded with enthusiasm. Brand waved back as hecescirted the girls from the platform.

"This is the grand premiere, after all," he told Mercurial. "Enjoy the moment."

The theater building was practically an attraction unto itself. Unlike the cheap buildings from Mercurial's world, this place had been virtually hand-carved into an art space. Tapestries hung in the walls between decorative columns of dark oak. Uniformed staff stood by to attend to any need. An entire kitchen was visible preparing food for the guests.

Mercuriel grinned stepping back to walk besides Rom, the crowded parted politely to let them pass, but she was sure that was because of Bran as opposed to proper politeness. "This is quite the auspicious place" She states the hint of wonder in her voice, she looked at some of the staff and grinned, she didn't intend to take too much trouble tonight, she was hoping this could be a trouble free event.

The young human brushed down her maid outfit and looked to Brand "where are we seated?"

Brand checked his ticket.

"Ah, this way," he said.

He led the way down a carpeted aisle to a set of comfortable chairs close to the stage and in the middle of the row. As soon as the group sat do an they were given menus.

[Redfield]

Mercuriel grinned sitting in the chair, a sigh escaped her lips they were quite comfortable but she preferred her bed at home. She paused wandering when she'd started to refer to Brand's place as 'home' she shook her head pushing the thought out of her mind as she chose to try and enjoy the evening. She looked over to Gayle admiring her in the dress before taking a moment to look over the menu.

The young nineteen year old allowed a small laugh to escape her lips "they don't do anything half way do they?" she muttered, choosing to go with a simple glass of milk, she wasn't looking to get drunk that night. She looked to Rom "you see anything you fancy Rom?"

"There's...so much to choose from," Rom said quietly. "I don't know..."

Brand glanced at her menu and then tapped a salad selection.

"Maybe try that," he said. "Popular with elves."

Rom nodded, instantly obedient.

[Redfield]

Mercuriel reached out to gently pet Rom's head, a small smile on her face as she did so. The young human sighed shifting about in the seat, making herself a bit more comfortable. She looked around, there were plenty of other seats that seemed to be quickly filling up, the human grinned it seemed this was a popular show.

The young nineteen year old grinned "so how long is this show anyway?"

"About an hour and a half," Brand said. "There's a short intermission, too. It's a romantic comedy so it'll be short."

"My former owner loved revenge stories," Rom said. "Where everyone loses."

"She must have been a barrel of laughs," Gayle said.

"Um...yes?" Rom said, obviously confused by the colloquialism.

[Redfield]

"I'm a Horror or adventure fan myself, but romantic comedies" Mercuriel states after a moment, she looked to Rom and saw her confusion "barrel of laughs....It's a sarcastic saying meaning full of fun and abundance." She explained to the half elf and gave a small shrug a gentle smile on her face, she sighed and after a moment of silence she noticed a staff member approached to hand them there drinks and Rom's salad.

She took a sip of the milk and sighed, nice and cool just the way she liked it "O hope it's a good show."

"Oh I like those too," Brand agreed. "On the big screen. But for the stage I like the comedies. Tragedies...strike me a little too close to home. There are exceptions, but..."

He shrugged.

Gayle gave Brand a curious look. What kind of tragedies 'struck too close to home' for a dragon?

The rest of the food arrived. Shortly after that the lights went down and the curtains parted.

[Redfield]

"Ah I" she paused, distracted by the dimming lights and parting of the curtains, she grinned taking another gulp of milk as she sat back to enjoy the show. The young human grinned her body shivered from the anticipation and her head tilted rested on the back of the seat.

She gave Rom a quick thumbs up before settling in to enjoy the first half of the stage performance.

The okay was about a pair of girls, one feminine and the other an athletic tomboy. Their father forbade the younger, feminine daughter to go dating until her older sibling did. The older girl was either too into her sports or too intimidating to other boys to go dating.

The younger daughter and her would-be suitor hatched a plan to get the older sibling to go out with one of the more popular young men to clear their own way. They found a willing conspirator, who agreed to ask them older girl out on condition if payment.

Naturally the plan began to fall apart almost immediately, with the younger daughter and prospective date scrambling to repair it, all the while keeping up witty banter. As the first half of the play ended, things were working up towards a potentially colossal disaster.

Brand was chuckling as the curtains closed for the intermission.

"Of course they have to stop it now," Gayle half-complained.

Rom was wide-eyed, clearly excited by the rapidly building tension of the story.

"I can hardly wait to see what happens!" She said.

[Redfield]

A small laugh escaped Mercuriel's lips the enthusiasm of the crowd and her companions sure was infectious and she found she greatly enjoyed the show herself. The young woman shifted in her seat, getting to her feet and stretching, she took a final gulp of her milk, clearing the glass at last. She reached over to gently pat Rom's head "I know, didn't think I'd enjoy it this much" she gave another small laugh.

There was a slight blush on her cheeks as she looked around, many of the other patrons were taking the time to stretch there legs too. The human looked around quickly, her hand remaining in place on Rom's head for a moment "I'm going to take this opportunity to go to the loo."

Brand and Gayle stood too, prompting Rom to do the same.

"Time for a bit of socializing," Brand said.

Gayle took his arm and waved at Mercurial. Rom looked torn until Brand shooed her in Mercurial's direction.

[Redfield]

Mercuriel grinned nodding as she saw Rom, then sighed gesturing for the half-elf slave to follow her, she moved through the crowds searching for the bathroom. Her lips curved into a grin once inside one it didn't take her too long to complete her business and she settled for washing and then re-washing her hands in the bathroom sink.

Most of the richly garbed guests ignored the two young women. This was not surprising since they were wearing servant uniforms.

But not all. After they emerged from the restroom the pair were confronted by a nobleman who looked only a little older than they. He was average looking, exceptional so let because of his attire.

"Excuse my, ladies," he said. "May I ask whom your employer is?"

[Redfield]

'Ah, right I guess we do look like' Mercuriel thought to herself casting a quick glance at Rom, quickly putting a finger to her lips before turning her attention to the nobleman. She gave the man a polite smile, the man seemed nice though she thought she saw his gaze flick briefly to her breasts, her hands came to gently clasp over her stomach. She was polite, there was no need to be rude after all.

"Ah, sorry were not actually employed by anyone." She says, it wasn't a lie since neither of them were actually employed by Brand.
