The Pekenyo Pair (Me and Pachirisu & Asmodeus)

Pito was sound asleep at home when he heard someone shaking his body and call "Wake up, Pito!" It was his friend, Leka.

"Leka, do you have any idea what time it is? Can't you wait until morning?" Pito replied tiredly.

"No, this can't wait! There's something at our lakeside camp! What if it finds all the food we have hidden in the cave?" Leka said urgently.

Meanwhile, a female fox was pondering on what the X on the tree that she found meant.

"Did you see what it was?" Pito asked Leka as they walked down the trail that lead to their camp.

"I'm pretty sure it was a fox." he answered.

"It's always foxes." Pito said as he looked up at the tree-tops for the X marking their camp. When they got there, sure enough there was a fox just like Leka said.

"Get away from our camp, you damn fox!" Leka demanded agrily.

"Yeah!" Pito added.

The fox quickly turned.

"Ah!" she gasped out. "Two delicious morsels. What camp?"

[Mellorine]

"What? You don't know about our camp by the la-." Pito was about to say before Leka quickly put his paw over his friend's mouth.

"Shut up! We should be lucky that she doesn't know about it yet! Don't go around blurting out about it to a fox who wants to eat us!" Leka whispered urgently.

[Pachirisu_And_Asmodeus]

"Huh? What was that? Did you say you had a camp?" the fox asked.

[Mellorine]

"Uh, no. He was saying that he wanted to take a nap. It's really late out, so who could blame him?" Leka lied, letting out a fake yawn.

The fox wasn't fooled.

"Tell me where the camp is, and I might spare your lives." the fox sneered.

[Mellorine]

Pito was shaking with fear. Something told him that even if they told the fox where their camp was, she would still eat them.

"We're already here." Leka answered, coming to the lake and a waterfall. Near a hill, there were two tiny tents. Luckily, the cave was hidden behind a pile of leaves. It wasn't the most clever facade, but it worked most of the time to keep their food hidden.

"Why do you want to go to this camp so much? There's nothing you'd like." Pito said to the fox.

"Hmmm, I guess you're right." the fox said as she grabbed Pito, trapping his arms to his side.

"I think I'll eat you first." she smirked.

[Mellorine]

"Let me go! I don't wanna get eaten!" Pito cried as the fox grabbed him.

"Don't worry, Pito! Everything's gonna be okay!" Leka called up to him as he removed the leaves from the bottom of the hill.

"What if I told you that somewhere in this camp, there was all the food you could imagine?" Leka asked.

[Pachirisu_And_Asmodeus]

"Hmmmmm, I might spare your lives then." the fox mused.

[Mellorine]

"We have a deal, then." Leka said, business-like as he removed the leaves from the bottom of the hil, revealing the entrance of the small cave.

"There's enough food here to last the two of us for at least two years. Take what you want, and leave us alone." he told the fox.

[Pachirisu_And_Asmodeus]

"Okay." the fox said as she looked into the cave. "Don't you have any meat in there? I only eat meat, you know."

[Mellorine]

"No, the smell of meat would draw others here. We only have fruit and nuts here." Pito answered, getting his paws free from the fox's grip and wiping away his fearful tears.

"And I was hoping that we'd come to an agreement." Leka said with a bitter laugh.

[Pachirisu_And_Asmodeus]

"Nuts?" the fox perked up at the mention of nuts. "What kind? I love peanuts."

[Mellorine]

The fox's words brought hope to the two Pekenyo who were at her mercy. "Yeah, we just happen to have some in here. Let me go get them." Leka said, going inside the cave, and taking out all the peanuts.

"I'm just glad that we don't eat them that much." he thought.

[Pachirisu_And_Asmodeus]

"Finally, some peanuts!" the fox said as she dropped Pito to the ground and started eating the nuts one by one.

[Mellorine]

"A fox who likes something other than meat? I thought I'd never meet one." Leka laughed.

"Thanks for not eating me." Pito told the fox gratefully as he was put on the ground.

"I consider nuts to be meat." the fox informed them. "Anyway, your welcome. Since you've been so nice, I'll keep my promise to not eat you and I invite you over to my house for some supper."
