Extended Contact (Giantessfanx and Darian)

[Darian]

The ship had traveled long and far, into the reaches of unexplored space. These brave explorers of the human race had set out to find new, viable planets to live on, and life to chart.

One of the crew was a perky young biologist named Kathy. With big brown eyes and short brown hair, she was quite petite, and looked more like a freshman college student than a double master-post grad genius. But while Karen was a bit ditzy and clumsy, there was noone who was better at comparative biology. She'd be the one stopping any super-plagues and dangerous microbes when they landed.

Another was Rada, a large, muscular woman almost seven feet tall. The Russian astronaut was every bit as solid and reliable as they came, easily providing the muscle and security the group needed. She kept her head cool in a crisis and usually watched out for Karen, making sure she slept. One didn't get to be an astronaut by being... unstable or prone to anger. Most easily recognizable thanks to her heavy accent and very short black hair.

Crystal was the crew’s engineer and mechanist, her job was to keep the ship and equipment in good shape. She kept her dirty-blonde hair short to keep it out of the way of her vision and any moving parts, her slim frame allowed her to more easily squeeze into the various tight spaces of the ship where the things that went wrong always seemed to be.

Amanda was the one in charge of the mission, though whispers said it was more due to her father being the major financier of the mission rather than actual skill. Given that each day her long brown hair was always done up in some fancy style, her face well make-upped, and she rarely wore her uniform the rumors were probably quite true.

Then there was Karri. Red headed, bespectacled blue eyed Karri. The fairly shy young woman was probably the youngest of the crew at 19 years of age. Her job was essentially to fill in wherever an extra pair of hands were needed.

[Darian]

"Karri, how are the preparations for the shuttle?" Rada asked as she lifted another heavy box onto a lift to be loaded. "Base supplies are all packed up."

Now was an exciting time to the crew, as they had finally arrived at a world they could land on! Kathy had been shocked by the initial micro-biology tests, which indicated that they could even go down without environment suits, if they wanted! The planet was a tropical one, with lush jungles, but also plains of wet grass. A strange place to be sure, even at the equators.

"Is almost time to suit up and strap in for descent launch."

(Amanda gets to name the ship, because she's the one in charge. Is this whole landing thing interesting to you? I know we aren't on the planet yet, but I kinda felt this would be a good way to set up the various crew-members.)

“Crystal says all the systems check out, we’ve got all the personal effects aboard, and now with the base supplies that’s everything except our fearless leader.” Karri reported. “Oh man, it’s going to be great to get off the Diamond Grace and see something other than metal composites surrounding us.” Even now after so long on the ship, Karri still couldn’t wrap her head around why Amanda gave it that name. The best explanation she got was from Crystal, “Amanda’s much like her pa, money’s the big thing for the both of them. Probably see infinite of business opportunities in exploring previously unknown worlds.”

The door from the shuttle bay to the rest of the ship opened and Amanda stepped through. Remarkably she was dressed in the uniforms they’d been given back at the start of the expedition and her hair was in a reasonably sensible style for once, braided into a long ponytail from the back of her head. Karri half expected her to show up in a bikini with her hair done up in some elaborate knot. “Hello ladies, everything ship-shape?” Amanda asked as she approached.

[Darian]

"Yes, Captain. Loading up the last of the base supplies now." Rada pushed the heavily loaded cart to the shuttle's ramp one handed. One could easily see her figure through the skintight space undersuit she was wearing, big and very well muscled. Such a thing was meant to fit comfortably around the more bulky environment suits that the crew had brought along, and Rada clearly meant to suit up after getting everything else loaded. "Crystal has the details of the system checks, and Kathy is going over the last probe readings and samples. Should be here soon."

The tanned woman paused at the bottom of the ramp, and looked back at Amanda's uniform. "Captain, are you sure that is what you are want to be wearing for landing? Regulations require envirosuits for all crewmembers on unexplored planet."

“Oh regulations,” Amanda said, waving a hand dismissively, “The tests said there was no dangerous micro-organisms. And the planet has a breathable atmosphere and good temperatures. Why bother with envirosuits when the main reasons to use them don’t apply?”

Not to mention envirosuits don’t let her show off her figure and the good looks she spent hours getting just right. Karri thought cynically. She was in the undersuit herself, more as a to-be-safe thing. She knew Crystal had been wearing hers since it was less bulky and let her move more easily, she wasn’t sure about Kathy though.

[Darian]

Rada sighed a bit, but resumed pushing the cart up the ramp. "If you say so capitan. But please use breather mask, at very least. Kathy wants to run last test before we do without suits." Rada was less than pleased with Amanda's attitude, but rarely said anything about it, being both professional and military. Possibly if she was alone and out of the captain's hearing, she would comment on Amanda's attitude. "I will double check with Crystal, capitan."

Kathy loved her labcoat and shorts, but even the scientist would be wearing the envirosuit for the landing. (though she might be wearing her labcoat over or under it...)

Amanda made her way up the ramp, Karri followed at a distance far enough away from the captain as she could that didn’t seem like she was trying to distance herself from her.

“Well howdy gals.” Crystal said, popping out from one of the tiny maintenance shafts as the three other women approached. Her face and undersuit were smeared with grease. “Missed a little bugger on my earlier assessment, but I fixed ‘er up.”

[Darian]

"Excellent," Rada nodded as she began latching the crates into place. She straightened up and stretched her back out, with a series of pops. "Time for suits... if Katherine is finished with last test. Running samples from landing site." The tall woman scrunched her nose a bit. "Still do not think landing so close to impressive beach is good idea, no matter how clear flight plan say weather will be."

(Just leave Rada with any of the other crewmembers and out of Amanda's earshot if you want her opinion on the captain.)

“Well it’s got the best conditions for landin’. As excitin’ as it is to explore a new world, I’d just as soon not become a permanent resident.” Crystal said as she wriggled out of the maintenance shaft.

“Well, if you’re all going to suit up I’ll meet you in the cockpit.” Amanda said before walking off.

“Thank heavens she’s gone…” Karri said shortly after Amanda disappeared down the corridor, “I always feel like she judging me whenever she looks at me…”

[Darian]

"Capitan always judges. Is capitan's job, to make sure we do our jobs." Rada says gently, but hesitates. "I am worried about this landing. Regulation say ten days of probes and tests before foot exploration. We are going with three days. I am not scientist, but I listen to Katherine speak about tests. Microbiology compatible not mean safe. Even ten days is not complete test. document thousands of microbes... but there are billions down there. and not enough satellite scanning. we do not know what is down there."

Rada lets out a heavy sigh. "Capitan rush tests. Now rushes landing, and is wearing dress uniform! Bhoze moi, is like she wants to pose for photographs of landing on alien planet like magazine cover."

"I got the cameras-" Shouts a cheerful voice, followed swiftly by a *WHAM*. "I'm okay..." It seems Kathy has arrived.

Rada rolls her eyes and strolls down the ramp with a smile. "THAT one however, is eager for different pictures."

“That magazine quip probably isn’t far off from being the truth.” Karri said to Crystal as the followed Rada to check up on Kathy.

“Fame n’ fortune over safety n' protocol, that’s Amanda for ya.” Crystal replied with a shrug.

“I guess if it all goes to hell we’ll just have to make sure we outlive Amanda long enough to tell everyone it was her fault.” Karri said, as she said it she wasn’t too sure if it was a joke or a legitimate idea.

[Darian]

"well, that is why we are to be wearing environment suits like good crewmembers while Capitan looks good in photographs and possibly needs her pretty bottom saved. No big loss." Rada reappears on the ramp with her arm around a MUCH smaller figure, even in an environment suit. The full suit, headgear and all.

Her short brown hair and askew glasses can't hide the goofy smile on her face. This is Kathy, the little genius, and she's holding onto a small suitcase and a complex if tough looking camera.

"Hey guys! I mean girls! I mean, wait, no gender neutrality needed, girls, right, why don't you have your suits on?" Kathy is almost bouncing with excitement. "We're going to land on Aleph-3 today! in like ten minutes! She's obviously excited.

“Relax Kathy, you’re as jittery as a terrier that drank a keg of coffee.” Crystal said with a friendly smile.

“We’re all excited Kathy, we just had other things to get done before getting our suits on.” Karri said.

[Darian]

"aaaah, sorry, but I just can't help it! I can't believe Amanda got me as the primary researcher for this expedition, I mean, there's so much stuff just from the samples! I can't wait to see what wildlife is down there!"

Rada winces slightly at that. "Not too close, I hope. I am still bringing weapons, just in case." She holds up a finger as Kathy opens her mouth to protest. "Is only for safety. If something tries to eat member of crew, I am going to shoot it. Will try to scare off if gets to close, but I will not risk any of you. Science is not as important as staying alive."

"Yes, Rada..." Kathy almost pouts as she stows away her cameras.

“Alright y’all, let’s all get aboard, close up the shuttle n’ suit up before Amanda takes off without us.” Crystal said.

[Darian]

Rada quickly headed inside to suit up, while Kathy happily hopped to her station at the bridge. The shuttle might not have been a full fledged interstellar craft, but it was big enough to require all five of the crew to keep an eye on everything, even if Crystal would be doing most of the piloting.

Karri and Crystal followed Rada to suit up. Then the three of them joined Amanda and Kathy on the bridge.

“Alright Crystal, take us down.” Amanda said as soon as the three of them sat at their stations.

“Aye aye Captain.” Crystal replied as she started the shuttles engines. A moment later the craft was smoothly lifting off the deck and soaring out the Diamond Grace’s docking bay towards the planet below.

Though she did keep an eye on her station, most of Karri’s attention was on the planet filling up the forward viewports.

The oceans were Purple. actually purple. that was the first noticeable thing about the un-named planet below (Aleph-3 was really just a serial designation). Even kathy had no idea why this was, as the oceans weren't that different from terran oceans.

The trees and vegetation were were an odd teal color, not quite green and even more exotic. there was no telling what waited for them on the surface.

“Approachin’ target coordinates.” Crystal reported a while after they passed into the world’s atmosphere. “Looks like the DG’s computer’s puttin’ us right on one of the beaches.”

“Well I hope it’s not too crowded. There’s nothing worse than a crowded beach.” Amanda said. Again Karri wasn’t sure if it was a joke or a serious comment.
