The officer shrugged:
"Last thing I heard was that they were prepping her for surgery to remove the bullets. I'll drive us to the hospital once we get this one in custody." He gestured towards the Mayors Wife.


Time: 0509
Location: New Dayton, Oregon, Main Hospital

Though she had been told to sit down and not pace around th room, it didn't seem to help much as Valerie was soon up again from her chair in the waiting room.
After a while the receptionist had just given in and let her do what she wanted.

The surgeon came out. It was unclear what mythological creature was his base, but he had four arms and an indian accent. He spoke while he wiped his hands with a cloth.
"She's in the clear now. The kevlar vest had taken the brunt of the damage, but not all of it. She is in the room and can take visits, but be quick about it. She needs rest now."

Val was awash with panic and frustration at not knowing how her partner was so was eager to hear any news, as the doctor appeared however she melted with relief to hear that Mae would at the very least survive. Sighing with relief the woman quickly side stepped past the doctor and into her partner's room, the fear was still clear on her face however and it only grew as she saw Mae laying there hooked up to several machines, the horrible beeping of the hear monitor echoed in the room.

“M....Mae? Can you hear me?It's Val, how you doing?”

[Bright]

Val got a bit of an annoyed look from the surgeon:
"Remember, she needs rest now."

The bandaged harpy looked at Val with her dark eyes and blinked slowly.
"I was a bit careless. Seems like you have to work with another partner for a while, partner."
She paused for a little while:
"Did you catch whats-her-name? The mayors wife?"
"By the way...you should get a shower. You look like hell." Mae had a chuckle.

A look at one of the IVs that went into her arm would reveal that it was a large dose of morphine.

Val's angry glare at the surgeon told them more than words ever could, she would do what she could to talk to her friend no matter the consequences.

The officer melted slightly upon hearing Mae's voice, it was so good to hear her partners tone, even drugged up and slurred the words were pleasing to hear even if they were about getting another partner. Wiping her cheek slightly the officer nodded.

“Like anyone could replace you, you overgrown pigeon. But yeah, we got her fleeing, she wouldn't quit until I tasered her.”

Val was silent for a moment before she looked at her partner again.

“I'm sorry I wasn't there to help Mae”

Mae chuckled slightly.
"Oh shush you. You stopped that bitch from kidnapping more kids."
Mae tried to lift her wing to hug Valerie, but it was tied to the bed to prevent her from tearing out the IVs.
"C'me here. No one ever said this job was going to be easy, eh?"

She paused and mumbled:
"I should ask Ara to make me one of those silk, Kevlar vests."

Details: Though she has been an advocate for more restrictions on mythological Creatures, it turns out it was really a cover for human-meal trafficking.

Details: Denies any accusation of having anything to do With his wife activities.
Status: Suspect, under questioning.

Details: Was kidnapped and almost eaten by Clarissa. Was eaten by Maeriris Hoo in an attempt to save her from fire fight.
Status: Victim, witness.
Other: She is currently being treated for shock.

Details: Denies anything to do With the kidnapping. Currently suffering rockification on arms due to UV flashbang.

Details: Refuses to speak With police. Suffered several gunshots during the gunfight, but they're only flesh wounds.
Did eat several People during the gunfight in the Warehouse, but claims self-defense. Did not Digest any of them, but not for lack of trying.
Status: Suspect, detained.

Occupation: small time criminals, tried to make it big through kidnapping.
Status: Accomplices to Clarissa Bridges.
Details: Detained and under questioning.

Time: 0600
On a tv out in the waiting hall, the newscaster blared on the TV:
"We have recieved reports that the Mayors wife, Clarissa Bridges, have been detained by the police. We have yet to recieve any actual reports of how and why she was detained. Mayor John Bridges have no comment on this case."
" We will Return later once we have more on this case."
In other News, the mermaid nation of Atlantis are being accused of sabotaging Japanese Fishing boats. The mermaids are replying by saying that the Japanese are intruding on their Sovereign waters."

(no it's fine, you're giving it direction which is nice. You know more about the setting so i'm happy to let you lead ^^)

Seeing her partner attempt to hug her Val simply ran a hand across Mae's soft feathers, if nothing else it showed a connection between the two which was clearly more than enough. Pulling her hand away a few seconds later the human officer moved aside slightly.

"It won't be the same on the streets without you, just heal up and get back out there with me. We'll make sure to get you flying like old times....even if it means i have to get all sticky helping you carry added weight"

Val laughed lightly rubbing her own arm not quite sure how to continue, she had never been in such a situation before. IT was both awkward and emotional.

[Bright]

"You should go home and get some sleep." Mae said, "I bet that captain want a full report once you show up at station."
"Don't you worry about me, I'll be here tomorrow."
She laid her head down on the pillow and pretended to sleep. The snore was loud, and obviously fake. She smiled a bit.

Due to the mission carried out at night, Val wouldn't be expected at work before late in the afternoon.
Would probably be a good time to get some sleep, and a shower since her current state was slightly bruised and rather sweaty. (Not to mention a bit sticky as well)

The human and satyr who had driven her to the hospital was waiting outside and would be willing to drive her home if she so wished.

Val had to admit that she was both physically and mentally drained from everything that had happened, so simply the actual raid but the fact that her partner and friend had been pushed close to the end, she certainly needed to sleep.

Seeing her partner pretend to sleep, something she knew Mae was doing for her own benefit the officer rose and with one final rub of her partners wing left the room and then the hospital, from that point on the journey from the hospital to her own small apartment was a blur, she remembered none of it, even as she clambered into the shower she barely focused, at least until the refreshing water hit her. AS if washing away the pain Val cleaned herself before half heartedly drying her bare form, sleep took her quickly as she clambered into bed.

The next day Val was at least a little refreshed, she hadn't had as much sleep as she'd hoped but at least had had some and so was fit enough to work, the trip to the station was uneventful and sluggish before she finally returned to a place of normality, the station...

The station was as usual quite the lively place with paperwork, officers walking in and out, witnesses being taken in for questioning and various small time crooks sitting idly handcuffed to some chairs while growling at whoever passed by.
The majority of the police force were humans, but quite a few of them were mythological creatures.


Due to last nights events, Val did not have specific schedule in the station today, but as crime never rests, neither can justice.
There were a few particular things she could do in any order:


1. Visit the captain and deliver a report of yesterdays events.

2. Visit Ara in the equipment room and deliver the items that she had used for the mission.

3. Visit the interrogation room and observe how the current officer would have to deal with interrogating the mayors wife.

4. Someone would need to get a statement from the witness/victim of yesterdays events. She is however not near the station at the moment.

Yawning lightly Val sluggishly wandered past the reception desk after flashing her badge, knowing full well she had to report to the captain the officer prepared to make her way towards the chief's office but diverted at the last second not wishing to talk about Mae's wounds, instead she turned to head towards the equipment room, there would be time later to talk to the Captain.

Wandering down the hall Val made it to the equipment room where all of the gear for the officers rested, it came in all shapes and sizes and some was even custom made depending on who used it. The officer unclipped her bely from waist and placed it on the counter as she waited for Ara to tick it all off, everything was accounted for spare the radio which had shattered during the pursuit the day before.

Ara was wearing her usual blue police uniform with her black hair sat in a bun.
She looked over each item, noted them mentally before picking up the equipment list.

"...and there we go." Ara said as she ticked off the equipment from the list.
Noting that the radio wasn't delivered, and that it was destroyed during last nights mission, she looked down on Val past her red glasses.
"Tsk tsk." She pushed her glasses back up.
"You should be more careful with the equipment. It's not like we're made of money in here you know."
She picked up her knitting equipment and began knitting once more, with long nimble fingers, with sharp nails on each, her work was expert of producing the material for clothing.
"Maybe I should make a radio cozy..."

Name: Ara (Arachne)
Species: Spiderperson/orbweaver
Age: 30 (probably older due to mythological status)
Job: Deskjob and responsible for equipment. She's also working to provide with low-yield stopping clothing with her spidersilk.
Other info: Came to work in the police force after the Myth Amnesty act. All prior predations have been cleared from record.

Val sighed lightly at the response about the radio, it should have been expected considering Ara's radical take on returning equipment but Val had acted in the best possible way, at least she believed so so felt no need to defend herself.

“Come on Ara, it was only one radio. It was the only thing I had to break the glass when I was HANGING from the roof of a car, we don't all have desks to protect us”

Val was joking half heartedly but at the same time there was some truth to her words, it was far different for Val than it was for Ara and the responsibilities were very different as well.

“You could always charge the bill to the mayor's wife, i'm sure she'll love that little grain of salt in the wound”

Smiling Val wandered off towards the chief's office, her smile disappeared quickly as she approached the door and knocked...

Ara pondered the possibilities and nodded.
"I'll make sure to do that," she said With a devious grin.
Upon Val leaving, Ara began knitting a pair of mittens.

The voice behind the large door was gruff:
"Come in."

The captains desk was full of papers, With a large mug of coffee in the corner and a large stressball in the other corner.
His large hands held a paper in one hand and a magnifying glass in the other. Even With the very large uniform he had, one could see the bulging muscles beneath.
A few holes could be seen in the wall as his large horns would sometimes accidentally get stuck if he swerved too fast around on the Office Chair. It wasn't easy being an minotaur in a room made for humans.

"I really hate how these lawyers keep sending me complaints With the tiniest lettering possible, don't you agree?"
He didn't wait for an answer, he merely just shuffled the papers aside and gestured for Val to sit.
He called out her name in full, "Now, I don't have a lot of time, so I just want you to tell me what happened earlier. One of Ours got shot, and I want to see to it that it doesn't happen again. Just a quick summary will do."


Police File:

Name: Gregorio Orokos (Greg for short)
Species: Minotaur
Age: 50
Job: Police Captain (I think this is correct in terms of the rank, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_captain )
Other: A strict, but fair man of large stature who commands respect among most People. He started in the force when Young and thus has been in the force longer than most.
In the later years, his eyesight has worsened, but he is still going strong for years to og.

Val was quick to take the seat offered, or more ordered, in her mind it was as if she were sitting in front of the principal back at school after having done something bad. There were certainly similarities for the captain made anyone feel small.

Val knowing full well that a summary was needed, even before she entered, sighed and filled in the captain.

“Officer Maeriris and I approached the target building from an opposite rooftop, after calling into dispatch with our information regarding the hostage we waited for backup but the situation escalated. Fearing the hostage would end of devoured we acted through a simple drop attack, Mae carried me to a safe spot whereupon she went to save the hostage while I focused on the other suspects”

Val paused for a moment before continuing, it was clear that she was finding it hard ot continue but forced herself through it.

“One of the suspects, the mayor's wife in this case, attempted to flee the scene by car whereupon I pursued and eventually managed to force her to stop, the car travelled some distance from the scene so i'm unsure as to what happened concerning the shooting, all I can say is that I was forced to discharge my taser as the suspect attacked. I heard from other officers after subduing the suspect that officer Maeriris has been wounded”

Val sighed.

“That's my summary captain, I left my partner to pursue a fleeing suspect, perhaps If I hadn't left Mae wouldn't have gotten shot......but the mayor's wife would have escaped. I want to say I made the right call but Mae was shot, there's no sugar coating it Captain.”

[Bright]

Greg sat with his arms crossed and peered down on the smaller Val. He nodded upon hearing her story.
"I am not saying you did something wrong, but the events that happened that night will be investigated in full to see if any of the actions could have been prevented, or at least had another outcome."
He took hold of his stressball and squeezed it with great force. His face expression did not change at all.
"The main office are investigating this event, not only because of the incident with your partner, but also because of the high value of the criminal behind it all."

"I'm not going to suspend you, but I need you to keep a low profile for the next days. If got a couple of vacation days, now will be a good time to cash them out. Otherwise you can do paperwork or neighbour hood patrol while we investigate the matter further."

Val simply nodded in response as the captains' surprisingly cool tone of voice, she had expected the larger officer to blow and fuse and the thought of her head as the stressball wasn't lost to her. Swallowing slightly Officer Orei rose from the chair and saluted slightly.

“I'll take the patrol Captain, at least i'll be able to do some good that way” Val actually had a great deal of paperwork that she could have been doing but she was never one to sit behind a desk and write up report after report, on the streets she could at least help someone even if they were minor problems.

“If I could take it all back I would captain but if nothing else at least the street's are a little safer now” With that said Valerie left the captain's office and headed towards the equipment room once again to stock up...

Before Val could leave the room, the captain called her out:
"Valerie, I still need a written report, but I don't need it right away. That would be all."

Ara delivered an old radio to Val.
"So, out for the patrol now are you?"
She hid it well, but if one looked closely, one could see a small tint of schadenfreude in the face of the spiderwoman.
"You're going to need these."
She put a taser and a pack of extra batteries on the table.

Val hated writing reports, any excuse to avoid doing them was good in her eyes but even she knew their importance. For now however the officer knew that just had to get out and help someone, if nothing else she would at least feel useful again.

Quickly taking her supplies she smiled at Ara.

"Thanks you smug bug, at least i'll be doing something productive Ara. If you've got some free time how about knitting me a new hat"

With that said Val turned and headed out of the station towards the neighbourhood she would be patrolling, it wasn't one known to her but at least it would be a new experience.

[Bright]

Ara tried hard to come up With a come back, but by the time she had something figured out, Val had long since left the building.
She murmured and went back to her knitting.

It seemed to be an alright neighbourhood, freshly cut lawns and pretty lookalike houses aplenty. It was hard to tell who lived in the houses, but from the looks of it, they would be Your usual american Family, With the occasional low Level myth creature.
(Low Level as in that they look a lot like humans, but have certain characteristics that set them apart.)


Val got a Message on the radio:
"We got a phone Call from one of the houses in the Ebil street. The 14th house to be exact. Someone has been standing outside their house for the last hour and the house owner is getting worried about a stalker. Think you could check it Out if you're Close by?"

Val hadn't worked a beat in about a year so it made for a nice change, at least she wasn't running after thugs with guns or hanging from the roof's of cars, perhaps nice was the wrong word however as her radio cracked with a message from dispatch.

Stalker cases were never fun and from the sound of the call it Val got that vibe, of course it could have been any number of things but none of them were good in Val's book. Responding to the call the offcier quickly changed course and made her way to the address, the figure quickly came into view....
