[Bright]

In is a common fact that mythological creatures has been with us since the dawn of time.
As the industrial age came and went into the modern age, these creatures had to adapt to modern society.
That doesn't mean it was easy, nor that their carnivoreous hunger was silenced.



Time: 0214
Location: New Dayton, Oregon

A truck was driving in the dark towards one of the warehouses that were on the shadier parts of town.
Little did they know that they were followed by a dark figure floating 200 meters above.
"If you could just sit very still, that would be appreciated!" The voice was female and came from an owl harpy. She was a bit harsh because the inhabitant in her bulging belly was being a bit unruly.
"I almost hit one of the powerlines over there."

If it had not been for the dark bulletproof clothing, this would have been much easier, but they were dealing with some hardened criminals here.

The truck finally stopped, allowing the harpy to land safely on top of a nearby building.
Sounds of retching could be heard shortly afterwards, whereas the inhabitant of her belly was allowed outside, along with a small laptop, a pair of nightvision goggles and a cellphone. Everything in its own seperate ziplock bag as to avoid it getting wet.
"You alright, partner?"

[Entity]

Alright was a bit of a stretch considering the tight and uncomfortable ride she had just experienced but Valerie was a professional and trusted her partner enough that she didn't need to dwell on the darker aspects of her predatory companion so with a slight smile she confirmed that she was fine, at least well enough to continue their task at hand. After a quick glance at her items to confirm that they were all in one piece Officer Orei considered their task ready. Grabbing the night vision goggles Valerie turned to look at the van while she talked to her partner.

“You know, i'll never get used to the belly rides. I can see why people squirm when they get eaten, it's not exactly roomy in that tummy of your's darling.”

Smiling lightly Valerie focused on the truck not caring that her body was slick with juices, fortunately the latex suit covering her entire curvy form had left her skin clean although her hair was damp.

“I really hope we catch these guys, they're connected to all those disappearances last month, I just know it. There's no way they look the way they do from eating burgers and fries”

[Bright]

Maeriris (or Mae among friends) licked her lips a little bit, and her stomach growled slightly, but that was alright. Having to empty her stomach for such a large meal usually made her hungry, but she was professional. Though a burger after work would be a good idea.

She stood hunched over at the ledge of the building and peered into the warehouse next door. With her subspecies being a barn owl, her eyesight was quite good, even without goggles.
Without moving her body, she turned her head completely 180 degrees to look at Valerie with her dark eyes.
"Can you report to HQ, I always fumble with the walkie talkie?" She moved her wings a little bit.
"I believe we have found the ones we are looking for. Might be a hostage situation, I see someone tied up."

[Entity]

Valerie nodded in response as she sidestepped back and grabbed the phone from the saliva covered bag, pulling it free the officer dialed into HQ. Both women knew full well that a hostage situation was complicated ,aside from it being a dangerous situation it would likely mean waiting for backup and there was no telling how long that could take.

Eventually the phone dialled in and the head of the two women's department responded, Valerie was quick to respond.

“This is officer Orei, Maeriris and I have discovered the truck and it's occupants, we can confirm that they are the ones were looking for. Unfortunately captain it looks like they have a hostage, looks to be a woman in her mid twenties.”

Valerie paused for a moment before continuing.

“How should we proceed?”

There was static for a moment before a response from the captain came in.

“This is Captain Hawkes, hold your position and wait for back up, if the situation changes and you feel the hostage is threatened move in immediately”

Valerie turned to her partner slowly.

“Well I guess we keep watching, here's hoping they don't gulp that woman”

[Bright]

Mae did a agreeing shrug.
"I think there might be 5 or more of them. One of them was driving the truck, two were holding the hostage in the back, and two were opening the warehouse."
She tilted her head slightly to adjust.
"They appear to be discussing something. I can't tell what they are, but they're humanoid, bipedal. Can't see any extra appendages."

Time passed and a second car pulled up. This was a limousine, a long fashionable car used by the rich people in society.
A troll and an ogre, their suits barely fit, stepped out of the car and opened the passenger door.

"Val, can you do a license number check on that car? Some rich lady just stepped out. I suspect we got a 'dinnerparty' on our hands."
Mae mumbled something to herself: "Those two are sure packing some muscle..."

(Dinnerparty = police lingo for when a kidnapping occurs to feed someone else.)
(Trivia: Barn Owl harpies have very good eyesight during night, but can't tell colors and are unable to see details. Their eyes can't move in their sockects, but in return they can turn their head 180* degrees. It has its uses at dinner parties.)

[Entity]

Vaerie nodded in response and used her goggles to scan the licence plate before grabbing her phone and calling the database.

“This is Orei, I need a trace on a limosuine, plates are Devour, Jackal, Amber 3631, I repeat DJA361. I need that trace asap please”

A near silent response echoed in confirmation before static struck, Orei turned to her partner.

“You don't think this is something to do with the aristocrats do you? Some pompous predator's wanting more meals than they're allowed?”

Valerie looked away from Mae and once again focused on the limo and the individuals nearby, they looked to be quite twitchy and alert but the main focus, the rich woman, seemed calm and collected for her focus was clearly on something else, the bound woman no doubt.

“Reminds me of a case a couple years back, some high class predator was caught with a pantry full of missing persons, supposedly they'd been snacking on runaways for month's before anyone got word. I hope this isn't gonna be one of those situations”

The radio crackled slightly and Valerie responded, her face dropped lightly as she heard who owned the car. The radio crackled again and Orei turned.

“You're not going to believe this but that limo's registered to the mayor's wife, this is bigger than we expected”

[Bright]

"The mayors wife is a human though, they're not supposed to be able to eat humans. Not whole at least." Mae looked at the group down below.
"They might be doing a delivery."

Looking through the window one could see that there was a bit of talking back and forth between the woman and the other group.
The troll put a suitcase on the floot and kicked it so it slid on the floor across the room towards the kidnappers whereas they picked it up and opened it.
With great poise and grace the mayors wife walked towards the victim and for a moment she shimmered and then she expanded her maw greatly, slobbering over the victim.
To her great annoyance she was stopped by the kidnappers, they were angry and pointing at the contents of the suitcase. The mayors wife replied by pointing at the victim saying something in return.

"Things have escalated I believe." Mae said in a casual tone as the kidnappers pulled guns and the troll and ogre pulled out what appeared to be a rebuilt ballista and what appeared to be a small cannon.
"Think we might have a Donnerparty now."

A gunshot was heard and then the chaos started.

[Entity]

Val watched as the mayor's wife attacked the woman with her tongue, there was something very strange about the entire situation but as it unfolded it was clear that the two officers couldn't wait any longer for backup, if they didn't act now the hostage was a goner. Orei rose from her knee's and brushed herself off slightly before turning to Mae.

“That's our cue to get involved, I hope you're ready to pack a couple in your belly...or at least the hostage. It might be a case of get in, rescue and get out at this rate”

Valerie pulled a small yet surprisingly powerful taser from a holster on her side, it was far easier to subdue a predator with a taser than a gun, especially if they'd recently eaten. Checking the weapon Val pushed it back in the holster and glanced over her other equipment, she was ready.

“Alright we need to get in there now,how should we do it? A grab and drop or do I need to get slimed again?”

[Bright]

"I don't think we got the time for a grab'n gulp, not if I'm going to save the hostage." She put her wings out, readying herself at the edge of the building.
"I got a couple of flashbangs in the belt around my waist. Hop on my back, I'll float you down the building and we'll save the hostage."
Mae urged Valerie to hop on.


Down below the situation had escalated. The ogre had pulled one of the crates and thrown it across the room to scatter the kidnappers, while the kidnappers had in turn shot enough bullets to fill the troll with bullets.
It was hard to see where the mayors wife had gone in all the ruckus, but she had to be down there somewhere as well.

[Entity]

Valerie hesitated for a brief second, not because of her lack of faith in her partner but more for the fact that she wasn't too fond of heights and when holding on to the back of a flying harpy heights were a big factor. Swallowing lightly the officer clambered atop Mae and held on tight.

“Ready when you are”

The sound of distant sirens echoed in the night and acted as a foreboding chorus to the gunfire below, it was going to be a memorable night for all involved, Valerie only hoped she wouldn't end the day with more slime on her body.

[Bright]

Mae let go of the ledge and floated carefully downwards the warehouse.
"Duck." She flew in one of the open windows on the side, allowing the two of them a good view over the battle.
"Jump, flashbang and get in cover, I'll get the hostage!"

With Valerie off her back, Mae flew with great speed towards the kidnapped girl and landed with her eyes closed while everyone was blinded.
"I'm from the police, you can trust me." She spoke quickly and before the kidnapped one could react, Mae had opened her maw wide and forced it down on the unfortunate girl, swallowing her quickly.

There was a sound of a car being started.

[Entity]

Valerie didn't particularly like the plan but by the time Mae had spoke of it it was already too late to say no and so Orei released her grip, fell onto a stack of crates that towered over most of the individuals in the warehouse. Val wasted no time in hooking her finger around the pin and pulling, amongst the gunfire and growls the KLINK of the grenade hitting the floor was practically silent grasping no attention, the sudden flash however was unavoidable.

A chorus of groans and screams echoed as the grenade erupted but with Val clutching her face she avoided the main effects of the flashbang, staggering slightly her focus quickly turned to the car.

“Mae, someones trying to escape”

Val shouted more to inform her partner than to get her to pursue, she knew full well her partner was dealing with the hostage so Orei jumped from the crates and ran towards the vehicle. Suddenly she lunged atop the roof before it sped away taking her with it....

[Bright]

Being a full-bellied harpy in the midst of a shootout was not an opportune moment to do anything, but Mae managed to Catch flight and get out of the Warehouse. The only trouble was the amount of stray bullets going in every direction...

Meanwhile:
The driver of the car had yet to notice that someone were hanging onto the roof. Whoever it was that were driving didn't care for the rules of traffic however as she sped up unto the highway and barely avoided swerving into a car.
Passing in the opposite direction were a Whole band of police cars. One of them hit the brakes and turned around and sped up again, trying to Catch up With the limousine.

By now the driver had noticed that there were someone hanging on, and they attempted to send Val off by hitting into the side of the highway.

[Entity]

Val had to admit that she was glad to see the comforting glow of blue lights, their backup while a little late was definitely welcome even though the car she was clinging to passed them all in a flash. The officer, dressed in little more than her latex uniform, knew that if she were to fall from the car it would end badly for her, the impact alone would be deadly but any obstructions would make it much worse. Val knew she had to get into the car.

The officer, gripping ahold of the roof grabbed her radio as best she could and suddenly began attack a side window in hopes to break the glass,after several hits nothing seemed to happen but the officer persisted until finally the glass shattered.

Glass scattered across the road and inside the car but Val didn't care about that, she carefully pulled herself inside until she was sitting in the passenger seat.

“Stop this car NOW”

[Bright]

When getting inside Val could see who was driving, it was the mayors wife!
Determined and set on a course, she barely flinched when the window was broken, but her tough look faltered when Val pulled a gun on her.

Seeing no way out of this, the mayors wife let go of the gas pedal and hit the brakes hard enough for the car to halt abruptly.
A slight moment of confusion was all she needed to take off the seatbelt and make a run for it.

The police car was still a good distance away and wouldn't be able to help Val in her current predicament.

[Entity]

As the car screeched to a halt suddenly Val was thrown against the dashboard stunning her for a few seconds, with her ribs bruised from the impact the officer eventually kicked the door open and pursued the fleeing woman, the pain was evident on the officer's face but she quickened her pace in hopes to catch the mayor's wife.

“Stop now and it'll be much easier for you”

Val kept the taser gripped in her hand as she ran after the woman hoping her injury wouldn't affect her too much in the pursuit.

[Bright]

The mayors wife hadn't come through the crash completely unscathed either and was running slower than she would normally.
Noticing the incoming police officer, she bowed down, picked up a rock and threw it at her. A foolish action as it then warranted a shot from the taser shot.
She had an awkward face expression as she looked down upon the two pins stuck in her waist when a large amount of electricity went through her body.


The police officers upon the road awaited the return of Val, one of them was a normal human while the other was a satyr. Any doubts they had about Vals work in the force had long since been erased by her constant good work.
She had not failed them this time either.

[Entity]

It had all happened so quickly, first the rock came flying towards her striking her on the shoulder before her own arm rose in turn firing the taser, as the bolts flew from her gun they seemed to move in slow motion, this could have simply been from the pain of the rock however and it wasn't long before the mayor's wife was a thriving form on the floor.

Val staggered towards the woman waiting for the surge of electricity to wear off, when it finally did she revealed her handcuffs and subdued the woman. It wasn't every day she got to arrest someone of high standing so she felt rather pleased with herself even if she did ache all over.

Pushing the woman in front of her Val returned to the main road where the car had been ditched and forced the mayor's wife towards her fellow officers before collapsing against the side of the car with a sigh, holding her shoulder and rubbing her other wounds she looked at her comrades.

“I wouldnt consider that fun but at least we caught the bad guys, any word on Mae and the hostage?”

[Bright]

The Satyr took hold of the Mayors wife and put her in the back of the patrol car. She was a bit uppity, but didn't resist too much when being faced with the strong goat man.


"We managed to subdue the both the kidnappers, the troll and the ogre. The latter one was the absolute worst to deal with it." He informed her.
"The hostage is safe, but Mae is being taken to the hospital. She was hit by some stray bullets when getting out of the warehouse." The male cop told Val.
"Sounded pretty serious over the radio."
He paused for a little moment.
"Hop on in, I'll drive you back to town."

[Entity]

To hear that her partner had been wounded and that she hadn't been there to help was a serious blow to Val's will and for a moment she found herself unable to speak to the point the other officer had to assist her into the car. Orei had shared a great deal with her partner so for the fact that something had happened to the harpy made Val worry.

As the woman clambered into the car, no longer caring about her own wounds, she couldn't help probe for more information.

“Is it bad?is she going to pull through?”
