“Wha- what happened? Where am I?” Karri groaned as she slowly returned to full consciousness. The dimness and the fact she lost her glasses made it hard to see, but she could feel the suckers against her flesh. “Jyse? What’s going on?” She asked as she started weakly struggling.

The suckers held Karri fast to the inside wall of the thing's cavity. At each place where the sucker touched her her flesh tingled, as if these suckers were different from those in its tentacles. Gradually she began to feel sedated, as if being sedated. Jyse could feel her struggle gradually diminish, and wondered what the girl inside her must be thinking as her consciousness faded. "When we meet again, Karri...then I can tell you everything..." she whispered to herself. Jyse relaxed with a satisfied yawn and began to doze, as the process inside of her began the metamorphosis of her captive.

Karri tried to resist the urge to sleep, fearing that if she did she’d never wake up again. For all she could tell Jyse had betrayed her, or even lied the whole time just to get her close enough, given how Jyse hadn’t bothered to respond to her questions. But for all Karri’s efforts she couldn’t fight back the sucker’s sedative-like effects, soon enough she lost consciousness, leaving her vulnerable to whatever Jyse had planned for her.

As Karri dozed, the substances inside Jyse's body began their work, re-sculpting her body in the image of her captor. Her legs were changed, splitting once and then again into 8 tentacles. It took barely and hour, and Karri was expelled from Jyse's body. She lay on the floor naked and unconscious, a smaller version of the creature who caused her transformation.

"Perfect" Jyse said, regarding the transformation.

For a long while Karri just lay there, but eventually with a moan her eyes fluttered open. “Wha….?” She murmured, surprised to smell the salty sea air. She yelped when she saw Jyse looming over her. Karri tried to get up and run, but she didn’t notice she didn’t have her legs anymore and promptly fell back down.

Jyse giggled at Karri's failed attempts to stand and run. "You'll find you're much better at swimming that walking now. Welcome to my world, Karri. You're still small enough to leave these caves and find a lair of your own. Preferably near a populated beach. You're a predator now, like me. An humans are the prey. You can either eat them or transform them, although only the females are good for creating more of our kind. So you can rest if you need to. And when you're feeling strong enough, you can go out into the world and meet your destiny."

The creature knew it would take Karri a while to wrap her mind around what she was and what she had to do. But Jyse herself had been there and knew eventually instinct would take over.

As Jyse finished talking Karri looked down at her new lower body, just barely restraining a gasp as she beheld her new tentacles. She had imagined this not too long ago after first seeing Jyse, but Karri never thought it could actually happen.
It was hard to think of humans as a different species, even prey. But the more Karri thought about it the more at ease she became with the idea. She’d never really fit in with people, and the idea of having someone struggling in her grasp and gut was very appealing.

Her thinking took a long time before she looked up at Jyse again. “Thank you,” She said, “But, if I leave will you be alright? It must get lonely being stuck here.”

“Once your transformation is complete you will see this is the way our kind live. We are solitary creatures, you and I. Now go. You are still small enough to make it to the ocean. Find a cave like this one, near enough to human habitation to lure prey. It will be a while till you're large enough to reproduce. For now, all you need to do is feed. The cavity which transforms us is also used for the digestion of our prey. What you must do will all come through instinct. Use your sweet voice to lure them to you, and once they have seen you they can never be set free.”

Jyse motioned Karri to the passages leading out of the main chamber.

“Go now....” she said

Karri glance out the way Jyse pointed, noticing the longing for the open sea she’d never felt before. “Well then… Goodbye Jyse. And thank you again.” Karri said before making her way out of the cave.

As soon as she left the cave Karri felt as though a great weight had been lifted from her. All the worries of her old life were gone, she was free. She dove into the salty water and swam along back towards the beach she had come from.

Dr Brian Jenkins was spending the day collecting specimens among the tidal pools not far from the cave where Karri had met with her transformation. He waded into the cool, calm water, placing any interesting specimens into a plastic bag. The tanned 28 year old looked perfectly at home near the ocean- he'd spent the majority of his life near it or in it, having earned a Ph.D. In marine biology at the age of 26. He was teaching at a local university, and the purpose of his trip here was to capture some live specimens to accompany his lectures. Seeing the actual living thing was always superior to looking at textbook pictures in his opinion. Little did he know that he was about to encounter something that didn't appear in any textbook.

His collecting took him to small outcropping of rocks. Venturing our far enough, he notices a small cave formation worn into the rocks. Eager to see what might lie within, he crawled across the rough surface until he stood outside the entrance.

Karri smiled to herself when she caught sight of the young man wandering on his own, her luck must’ve changed as much as her appearance. She climbed up on one of the outcrops of rock and after making sure her new lower body was hidden from sight she started singing like Jyse had.

At first he thought it was some odd sound made by the wind in the nearby sea caves. But it grabbed his attention and didn't let go. It was a wordless song, as beautiful as it was strange. In a moment he found himself climbing out on the rocks towards its source. He thought briefly of the old seafaring tales of mermaids and sirens luring sailors to their death with a hypnotic song. He laughed to himself- as a man of science he knew no such creatures existed. But this sound...it was truly intoxicating, and he crept closer and closer now, anxious to see its origin.

Karri continued singing as she watched the young man come closer. Already her new tentacles flexed and curled in eager anticipation. As much as she wished to leap out and grab him, she felt that would be too risky. She could feel hunger gnawing at her, she hadn’t eaten since breakfast that morning and the transformation had taken a lot out of her. Once he found her, which ought to be very soon, then she’d strike.

Though a dim light filtered into the cave among the rocks, Jenkins pulled a small pen light from his pack which illuminated the way well enough to go forward. The cave wasn't very deeply set into the rocks, and in a moment he emerged into a central chamber, revealing the source of the singing.

At first, all he could make out in the dim light was a series of moving shadows as his light glanced off the water within the chamber.. "Hello....who are you?" he said, hoping that he'd be able to pinpoint the source of the voice, which now sounded like it could be nothing other than human. Finally his light settled on what he sought- a large silhouette which sat in the center of the chamber. But what it was, his mind couldn't immediately give it a name.

“Oh. Hello there.” Karri said as the man focused on her, she leaned casually against an outcrop of rock in such a way that ought to give him a good view of her cleavage. “I wasn’t expecting company, but I’m not upset to have a good looking guy like you around.” She carefully extended a tentacle along the shadowy wall to grab him if he tried to run.

He could scarcely believe what he was seeing. But his curiosity overcame any fear. He ran his light up and down her body, and she did nothing to appear modest, allowing him to take it all in. "What....who are you?" he asked. Her body was voluptuous, and there was something mesmerizing about her tentacles, which writhed and pulsed beneath her human anatomy. And her voice sounded as sweet as her singing.

"You're....you're beautiful..." he stammered.

“Why thank you.” Karri said, she was getting more compliments today than she could ever remember getting. “I’m Karri. Why don’t you come closer and tell me who you are?” she added, beckoning the young man forward with a couple fingers.

"My name is Brian. I'm a professor from the university on a field trip collecting specimens. But I never expected to find something like you. You're the find of a lifetime..."

He walked forward slowly. "So...Karri. What are you? And what are you doing here in this cave? Maybe you'd consider coming with me...to the university. My colleagues will never believe you exist otherwise."

She didn't seem threatening at all, and the thought that she might be dangerous never crossed his mind. Even despite her tentacles, which writhed and twisted as he watched her. Certainly in the back of his mind he knew what they were for, But her beauty and his own curiosity had made him stupid, and in a moment he stood directly in front of her.

“Why this cave is my home, my sanctuary. I don’t think I’d do well on land.” Karri said, acting demure. She ignored Brian’s first question since she really didn’t know what her new species was called herself, it really didn’t seem important anyway.

But she definitely didn’t want to be taken to the university. Particularly with the new wonderful sense of freedom after her transformation she had no desire to be poked and prodded like a lab specimen.

Not that it mattered of course, already she had her tentacles carefully removing Brian’s clothes and coiling around him.

"Hey...what are you doing?" Brian said as she began tugging at his clothes in an almost playful manner. The removal of his clothes distracted him from the fact that several of the tentacles had looped around him, insuring that he couldn't run. Her touch was gentle and her tentacles were quite soft. Before he knew it she had him completely naked.

"What's this all about, Karri?"

He tried to take a step backward but realized she had coils around both ankles which held him in place. The suckers stuck to his skin and he realized quickly that unless she released him willingly he wasn't going anywhere. But there was something oddly arousing about her touch, and he no longer had clothes to hid his excitement.
