Mayday! (Whitebrand and Fiona)

Postby GenericBunny » Tue Nov 28, 2017 11:48 am

It was a beautiful afternoon in the forest. The sky was absolutely clear, and a cool, strong breeze could be felt blowing through the trees. The tranquil sounds of various creatures moving about along with the wind hitting the leaves was only slightly disturbed, by a faint droning sound from high above.

Fiona had recently managed to get her pilot's license, and had just bought her very own airplane. It wasn't easy to find something that she could afford - This lump of metal was easily twice her age, and had seen a lot of wear and tear. She could hardly care less however - All she cared was that she wasn't bound to the ground anymore. The craft's maiden flight under her was going wonderfully... Until she felt a powerful shudder, before the drone of the engine abruptly cut out.

The excited grin vanished off her face as she held the ignition switch, to no avail. She quickly scanned the various switches and knobs to check if she inadvertently turned something to the wrong setting, but could find nothing wrong. "Oh no..." She mumbled, while grabbing the fuel mixture nob to try adjusting it, even though it was already in right spot.

All the while she tried to maintain a glide. The wind was quite strong on the ground, but even more powerful up in the sky, beginning to cut her speed dramatically. Looking at the instruments, she figured out the problem - Both fuel pumps seemed to have stopped working. She began rocking the pump selector, trying to restart at least one, again with no luck. Realizing she was close to stall speed, she started to point down, towards the forest.

With one hand still playing with the switch, she used her free one to grab the radio, trying to remember the correct mayday format. "M-mayday, mayday, mayday! Total engin... no, Soraxton Radio, this VF0X5 w-with total power loss, last known posit-" With no hand on the yoke, a gust of wind was able to knock her into a dive. She grabbed the control to begin pulling herself back up. She realized she was headed towards the ground *fast*, and needed to find a place to land.

All she could see was a densely packed forest ahead of her. She began to turn, trying to seek any sort of a clearing. She saw a small patch of clear land along a river. It looked too small to safely land in, but she didn't have a choice by then. She again aimed into a dive, aiming for the very beginning of the clearing, intent on pulling up at the very last second...

She miscalculated her landing, and hit the ground at a downward angle. The landing gear snapped off, and the entire craft slid down the wet riverbank. Not realizing she had no wheels she pulled on the brakes as hard as she could, as she slid directly towards a tree.

With a loud bang, the metal body collided directly into the tree. The worn lapbelt simply snapped with the force, sending her head crashing into the glass, while her leg was sent forward, with her foot twisting the wrong way against the rudder pedal - Resulting in a bad sprain and a broken big toe. Similarly her arm had been firmly braced against the yoke, and the forward motion caused her shoulder to dislocate. The rest of her body was forced against the front of the craft, causing some bad bruising and scraping. She sat still, in shock for just a moment, before letting out a great cry of pain.

Panicked and in agony, she grabbed for the radio again, trying to read off where she thought she was between suppressing screams of pain. It took nearly a minute to actually look and realize the radio, and everything else had lost electrical power. She whimpered when she realized she was all alone, and that nobody quite knew where.

She knew the first thing she needed to do was to assess her injuries, but could barely move in the crunched cabin. She reached over to the door with her good arm - Thankfully, it only needed a bit of force to open. She scooted, trying to step out, but inadvertently tried to use her bad foot. The vixen screamed and crumpled to the ground in agony, taking a few moments before beginning to figure out exactly how bad her injuries were.

The crash and subsequent screaming were quite loud. She didn't think that she might have attracted some unwanted attention with it.

Virtually all the creatures of Whitevalley had noticed her arrival and subsequent mishap. Most were fairly inoffensive it harmless creatures to the wounded vixen...but not all. Several entities that inhabited the forested valley began closing in on the crash site at once.

The birds had gone silent for a kilometer around the crash site, but slowly the natural sounds of the forest began to reassert themselves.

The first of the investigating entities arrived virtually silently, its eight long legs carrying its body low along the ground. Fortunately for the pilot the thing had arrived on the wrong side of the plane...and it was reluctant to investigate much further until it could determine whether the crashed vehicle posed some kind of threat.

The presence of a wounded vixen, however, would eventually persuade the thing to overcome its reluctance in favor of an easy meal...

Fiona had been so preoccupied with attempting to treat herself that she failed to immediately notice the beast looming just on the other side of her plane. She had a bad laceration in her dislocated arm, and needed to stop the bleeding. She knew there was a first aid kit somewhere in her craft, but decided to use what was immediately on hand first. With great difficulty she removed her shirt, using her teeth to tear out a large strip to tie around the cut as a bandage. The entire process was labarous with only one good arm, but she eventually managed to tighten it enough to slow the bleeding to a trickle. Now she would go to seek the first aid kit. She turned to the open door... And saw the spider looming through the cracked glass on the opposite side. She stifled a whimper, and began to attempt to crawl away.

The scent of blood helped the monstrous spider overcome its caution. Once it determined that the craft was no threat, the thing began slowly crawling up on to the roof of the ruined vehicle. It’s mandibles twitched in eager anticipation of a nice fresh meal. It’s lidless eyes stared compassionlessly at the nearly helpless fox girl. It was incapable of appreciating her lovely curves or her sensitive eyes. It was simply, mindlessly hungry.

Suddenly the thing froze. For a brief instant it looked about to bolt at Fiona. An instant later there was a horrible wet crunch as the spider was mangled atop the plane by a huge silver claw. The things many legs twitched violently as the claw clenched viciously, ending its hunger, it’s threat and its life.

The claw was attached to a massive dragon, thirty feet from nose to tail. The dragon had a mane of copper that stretched a quarter the distance of its long neck. It’s eyes glowed a molten gold as it stared down at the fox girl...its eyes much more admiring than those of the spider had been.

The vixen was only able to drag herself by about a foot at a time with her good arm, keeping eyes locked with the creature as she tried to distance herself, before briefly scanning the ground around her for anything she could use as a weapon. She eyed a large chunk of metal, thinking she may be able to defend herself if the monster lunged towards her. She looked back as she heard the sickening crunch, only seeing twitching legs and a massive claw. She looked to what it was attatched to...

The fox let out a scream as she saw the giant dragon, attempting to jump to her feet. The pain in her foot and ankle were agonizing as she put weight on them, turning to run as fast as she could. Her speed was surprising considering her injuries, but she was still only a little faster than a normal walk. After several steps, she collapsed into the ground. She tried to lift herself once more, but collapsed into the dirt again. She began to crawl again, desperate to get away.

Fiona found herself face to face with the ugliest pair of feet she’d ever seen. The feet were caked with dirt, the skin on the toes was cracked and the smelled absolutely foul. When she looked up she saw a humanoid creature vaguely resembling a filthy comic strip cave man...one that stood ten feet tall. In its hand was one of the blades from her plane’s propeller.

Without a word the man-thing lifted the blade above his head. There was a blur of silvery scales and suddenly the horned head of the dragon slammed into the cave man. At the same instant the propeller blade crashed against the dragon’s forehead.

The cave man flew back with a great exhalation of breath while the prop blade flew in another direction. The dragon growled as blood oozed from the wound the blade had made on its forehead. The cave man scrambled to its feet while the dragon stepped protectively over the vixen, its wings spread forward like a pair of shields.

The vixen whimpered when she saw the man holding the blade. She attempted to push herself backwards and out of the way, but couldn't muster the strength in her good arm. Even if she could move, she had absolutely no place to run. As the sharp metal was lifted, she could only close her eyes, and pray that her demise would be quick.

But nothing would come to strike her. She heard the sound of the scales hitting flesh, but waited before opening her eyes. She saw the massive wings spread infront of her, and realized the dragon must be looming above. She held her breath, hoping the giant was too distracted with the caveman to notice her.

Bellowing angrily the giant humanoid got up and shook its fists st the dragon, but the much larger creature was not intimidated. The dragon roared in response and Fiona caught a whiff of ozone in the air. The humanoid creature ran off, not even trying to retrieve its weapon.

Despite bleeding from the head wound the dragon continued to crouch protectively over the vixen like a bird over its egg. It’s head swung back and forth, challenging any other would be predators that might come near.

Fiona quickly realized that the dragon must be aware of her presence. It seemed intent on keeping those creatures away from her, though she still feared what it might want to do once they were alone. But, everything she saw outside was certainly going to kill her. She wouldn't try to escape even if she could, instead staying put within the wings of the thing that wasn't immediately attempting to cause harm.

She began to tend to her injuries once again, hoping to make herself able to move a little faster in case the dragon didn't really want to keep her safe after all. There was little she could do about her ankle or foot, so she focused on her dislocated shoulder. She tried to not focus on the sounds of whatever lurked outside, while laying down and positioning her arm so she could push it back into place, whimpering and stifling a few shouts as she worked.

It felt like her shoulder was on fire. Moving it back into place was going to hurt. A lot.

That was when she spotted the snake. No ordinary snake but a massive monster nearly as long as the dragon itself. It slithered towards her from behind the dragon, it’s tongue flicking, intending to steal its meal right out from under the bigger beast. It’s scales gleamed a dark, mottled green, no doubt excellent camouflage in the forest. It’s eyes hungry and malevolent and focused on the nearly helpless vixen.

And the dragon seemed unaware of it at it slid past the dragon’s whipping tail.

Fiona winced as she tried unsuccessfully to push her shoulder back into place. Resetting the bone could only really be done when there was no tension in the muscles around them, she realized. She took a deep breath, trying to not focus on anything around her...

Luckily she was still able to notice the snake. She whimpered as she used her good arm and leg to scoot backwards, until she bumped the dragon's wing. Watching the hungry serpent approach, she tried to get the attention of the only creature that didn't seem intent on killing her.

"H-help..." She said in a raspy voice, coughing before managing to shout. "Help me!"

The dragon turned with lightning speed. Before the snake could close in on its prey the dragon's talon came down on the base of its skull, trapping the serpent. The massive rope-like tail flailed and twisted while the dragon wrestled with it, keeping its head pinned despite the powerful muscle of the snake.

Without warning there was another flash of ozone and a flare of an electrical spark. The snake twitched violently as the dragon twisted its claw. There was a loud snap and the snakes body went limp. The dragon pitched the things corpse away before turning his eyes on to the wounded vixen.

The dragon reached down towards her with the same claw it had used to kill the spider and the snake. It hesitated for a moment before touching her shoulder. At once the bone snapped into place seemingly by itself, and a blue light seemed to fill her body. The pain receded and her shoulder no longer felt like it was in flames. There was just the soreness of remembered pain.

Fiona gasped and tried to retreat further into the dragon's wing when she saw, and heard that powerful spark. She was thankful to see the snake no longer moving towards her, but instead watched the same claw that killed the beast about to touch her. She could not run, and she could not hide, instead waiting for the same powerful shock to move through her body...

Instead of painful electrocution, she simply felt a soft tingle along with the warm glow. It took a few seconds for her to realize the debilitating pain in her body had vanished. She felt that her shoulder could move freely, and that she could put weight on her foot again. She still didn't understand the dragon's motives, much less his abilities. But at the very least, she now felt it was more likely than not that the giant didn't intend to kill her.

"Erm..." She began as she stood, testing her foot's ability to withstand weight. "Thank you."

The dragon tilted his head at her.

“Interesting,” he rumbled. “Why are you here?”

A simple question coming from a huge beast that had killed two monsters in front of her.

The vixen took a breath as she began to recall. "It all happened so quickly. I... I was flying my plane, and it lost power. I think something happened to the fuel pumps. The wind brought me down so quickly and I, I couldn't find a place to land." She looked past the dragon, back at her wrecked craft. "I crashed before I could get an entire message out. I don't think anybody knows where I am..."

"No one?" the dragon said, tilting his head. "Are you certain?"

He suddenly turned his head and fired a blast of lightning into the woods nearby. There was a squeal and the sound of a hasty retreat.

"Things are going to be rather exciting around here for a bit," the dragon said. "Until the situation is resolved. We'll talk later."

The dragon was unable to repress the salivation that was building in his mouth.

Fiona shook her head before the dragon shot lightning at the unseen beast. She still wore the strip of her shirt over the now healed wound, while the rest of it had been discarded to the side, leaving her chest exposed. Even in her distressed state, the vixen was quite a sight to behold. Seemingly all alone... It would just take one swift motion to devour her, with nobody ever being any the wiser.

For now, Fiona had mostly calmed down. She remained vigilant of her surroundings, jumping a bit whenever she heard any movement, but she trusted the dragon to keep her safe, even if she didn't completely understand his motives.

The dragon couldn't help himself anymore. The sight of the topless vixen cracked his will. Or perhaps that had been his plan all along. He reached down with his head with surprising speed. In a second he'd scooped up the half-naked vixen in his mouth. Fiona suddenly found herself laying across the dragon's red tongue and surrounded by a cage of teeth. She was immediately coated with saliva that began to finish the job the crash had started on her clothing.

Before Fiona could realize what was happening, she found herself sandwiched between the dragon's jaws. Though she had been healed, her fur was still saturated with the tangy taste of sweat and fear that any injured prey had. "N-no, please!" She shouted as she flailed, trying to get herself away from the throat. She tried to push her hands through the teeth, preferring to risk being chewed rather than being sent down to the stomach.

"Please, don't swallow me!"

The dragon appeared to have other plans. Its tongue pressed her half-naked body to the roof of its mouth. The fox girl was pushed irresistibly towards the dark pit of the dragon's throat.

For the simple reason that he couldn't fight as well with his mouth full...but she had no way of knowing that.
