The Misadventures of Mercurial (Whitebrand and Redfield)

[Whitebrand]

The noble looked confused. Rom had confused as will but she hid it much better.

"Oh," he said. "Are you members of the theater staff?"

[Redfield]

Mercuriel smiled shaking her head again, the young nineteen year old allowed a sigh to escape her lips "no my slave and I are patrons" she says, her head tilted to the side as she stared at the man before her.

"Is there something you wanted from us?"

[Whitebrand]

"Oh," he said, looking disappointed. He quickly pulled on a polite smile. "In that case...er...enjoy the show."

He moved on, trying to understand why a patrol if the arts would be wearing servant uniforms. Maybe its was a Performance Art thing?

"I think he wanted to hire us," Rom said. "Oh buy us, if he knew we were slaves."

[Redfield]

"You might be right about that" Mercuriel states turning to Rom, giving the half elf a gentle smile, watching the nobleman walk away, she brushed her maid uniform down. She supposed it was odd for them to be dressed like this, still though she wasn't going to change her outfit it was her favourite after all. "Best to let me handle these things" she stated reaching out to gently pat Rom's head once more.

The young nineteen year old rolled her head, looking to Rom's collar for a moment before turning her head, the crowd seemed to bustle around them, none paying them too much attention or attention to their conversation with the nobleman it seemed. Mercuriel was aware they were both beautiful women and suspected they would be approached by another nobleman soon enough.

[Whitebrand]

Mercurial was right about that prediction. Two more nobles, one middle aged the other younger, approached the two girls. The younger man came right out and made them an offer of two gold per month. The older man at least managed some polite conversation before asking about their employer.

Mercurial spotted Brand and Gayle. The dragon was chatting and shaking hands with other patrons and guests. Gayle was keeping up her end, smiling and chatting cheerily.

[Redfield]

Mercuriel sighed shaking her head tolerably as she politely turned down the men a polite smile on the face all the while. She spied Brand through the crowd and thought about going over to him to get away from the others approaching them. She was relieved they had been polite so far, none had asked them for anything sexual or tried to push it due to their apparent status, she figured it was because of the crowd.

She decided to stick close to Rom, not wanting to get separated from the slave girl in the crowd, it wouldn't do to have to go look for her after all. Especially since the half-elf might be more susceptible to unwanted attention, heck they both just might be. Mercuriel smiled politely stepping to Rom's side and putting a hand on her shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze.

[Whitebrand]

Mercurial turned out to be interrupting a young man who was going on about Rom's beauty to her. The girl was too polite to simply to tell him she was already taken.

Intermission was gradually coming to an end, and people were starting to filter back into the theater. The youth continued to wax poetic about how smitten he was with Rom.

[Redfield]

Mercuriel smiled as she listened to the man, deciding to interrupt the man, she shook her head a little "ok ok now, calm yourself" She states stifling a laugh, the maid girl grinned and gave Rom's slave collar a slight flick.

"I hope your not bothering my slave girl now" The nineteen year old states, folding her arms beneath her chest, pushing her breasts up slightly without realising, coupled with her bare legs she was sure to attract the attention of someone older, but for the moment her attention was on the young man before her.

[Whitebrand]

The youth...possibly a teen now that she could seem him up close...stared at Mercurial for a moment. Finally something seemed to get through to him.

"Are you her owner?" He asked eagerly. "I'll buy her off you. Double market price!"

Brand was on this day to collect the girls for the show's second half. Gods knew what he might to to a kid trying to buy a slave out from under him...

[Redfield]

Mercuriel gave a a small laugh and shook her head "No thank you....She's not for sale" she spoke politely moving her hand to gently grab Rom's hand, giving it a squeeze. She wandered how interested the teen was, he seemed to be around her age. She figured Brand would be coming for them so there was no worry, she used her free hand to brush down her maid outfit.

For a moment she wandered how the man might react to their apparent different standings. "I couldn't bear to part with her."

[Whitebrand]

The youth looked a little embarrassed and quite disappointed. He left quickly.

"Your handled that well," Brand said as he approached, smirking. "Nice. Ready for the rest of the show?"

[Redfield]

Mercuriel nodded looking to Brand "of course" she grinned pulling Rom by the hand as she led the slave girl back towards their seats. The young human gave Rom a quick wink "I hope the second part is as good as the first."

She looked to Rom "you doing ok?" she asks giving Rom's hand a quick squeeze.

[Whitebrand]

"I didn't want to hurt his feelings," Rom said quietly. "He seemed...nice. Not like those others."

"He went straight from complimenting you to offering to buy you," Brand said. "Feel free to bruise the feelings of people who do that."

"I will...try, Master."

The curtains parted as the lights came up.

The story went back in time a bit, this time focusing on the perspective of the older daughter. The elder girl had been aware of her father's strange rule and so deliberately had avoided dating to protect her younger sibling--because her father's loss of their mother had made him fearful for his daughters. Her version of the story put a different perspective of the antics of the first half, ranging from exasperation to outright annoyance. Her meeting of their set-up boyfriend put her into a conflict because she was in fact starting to like the man...and the man in turn had begun to genuinely like the older sister. The meddling of her younger sibling only complicated things, leading to potentially a lot of hard feelings all around.

Fortunately, the play was a comedy. Cooler heads prevailed, especially when the girls' father finally dropped his ridiculous rule upon meeting one of the girl's pretty teachers. In the end the play came to a satisfying conclusion with the girls finally getting their freedom with their lonely and frightened father getting himself a potential romantic interest. Lessons were learned and everyone involved matured a bit. The curtain went down at last and the cast came out for final bows to enthusiastic applause.

[Redfield]

Mercuriel sighed shaking her head, a grin on her face as she clapped politely it had been quite the show and she was glad to have come to see it. She rubbed her eyes a little and shook her head, she wanted to stretch her legs again. Something about these seats seemed to make her ache briefly when she had used it for a bit, she looked around the other guests seemed to have quite enjoyed it too.

"Ok that was so much better than I thought it was going to be." Mercuriel stated cracking her knuckles and rolling her head "a solid eight of ten from me" she gave a quick thumbs up "you girls and Brand enjoy it?"

[Whitebrand]

Brand and Gayle nodded, wide grins on their faces. Brand imitated Mercurial's gesture. The audience started getting up and gathering coats and cloaks.

Other people were chatting about the show and laughing.

"I like how the first half focused on the younger girl's perspective and kinda selfish...like a young person. The second half included a wider awareness of other people and their needs, more like an adult," Brand was saying.

Mercurial spotted her first. She didn't have the horns or the wings at the moment but that almost too-perfect face and figure was instantly recognizable. The succubus was on the arm of a middle-aged man, smiling and chatting with people just like any other guest.

[Redfield]

Mercuriel nodded along to Brand's explanation, a content sigh escaped her lips, her eyes looked over the crowd until she spotted her. Mercuriel blinked catching her breathe slightly, her eyes on the succubus and the man she was with . She looked about, not wanting to cause a scene in the crowd or ruin a so far good time, the human wandered what to do. The nineteen year old wandered for a moment, then realised the succubus probably might not want to expose herself either and sighed shaking her head a little, besides what if she was mistaken.

The young nineteen year old rolled her head a little as she pushed herself to her feet "I'm going to make another trip to the bathroom" she says to Brand, giving a small smile she glanced at Rom not really wanting to put her at risk. The human sighed and moved forward into the crowd not checking whether Rom was coming or not, with a good excuse she moved towards the bathroom. The crowd bustled with activity around her and she soon found herself getting close to the succubus and her partner.

[Whitebrand]

The succubus was kissing her date on the cheek, assuring him that the small streaks of grey at his temples made him look "sophisticated". She wasn't exactly inaccurate but given her nature it would be natural to doubt her sincerity.

Her date smiled as if comforted and was immediately distracted by someone congratulating him for backing the play. The succubus's eyes roved over the crowd. If Mercurial didn't take action she would almost certainly be seen.

[Redfield]

Mercuriel kept walking forward, moving at a somewhat steady pace through the crowd, her eyes kept flicking over to the succubus and her cheeks flushed a light red colour as she did so. The young human's lips twitched slightly, her eyes met with the succubus and lingered for a moment, before she turned her gaze away.

[Whitebrand]

The demon's eyes widened briefly in surprise. Then she smiled. She excused herself from her date and began threading through the crowd towards Mercurial. A shark on the hunt.

[Redfield]

'Well, that's great' Mercuriel thought to herself seeing the succubus move towards her, the human girl blushed slightly, moving through the crowd herself, she wanted to put distance between her and the succubus. That wasn't going to be the case however and she soon found herself face to face with the beautiful woman.

"Ah....Hello"
