@nnn4463.. I will try my best, but I don't burp a lot. I don't drink carbonated beverages to make me burp. Sorry.... I want to try to do my own sound effects. I'm trying to convince my husband to be the muffled voice of distress for me.Maybe when he gets over his upper respiratory infection he will join in the frivolities and general debauchery.

Until then I've got some sound fx to stand in heh. I gathered everything the other day and constructed the voicemail message and then the background stomach noise with muffled screams.

Just as an experiment, I spent a few minutes tuning up the audio quality a little in the first recording. Brought out the low end a little and added some stereo element to make her sound more 'surrounding,' and added a few other minor enhancements.

Overall, I think it sounds warmer and more sensual this way so I thought I'd submit it for you guys!

I'm a sound technician by hobby, and have the software to really make this sort of thing pop but I can only do so much with a low quality recording (not bad acting in any way Hestia, I love it. just saying the hardware isnt doing you justice).

Not committing myself to "enhancing" everything posted here, but just wanted to see what I could do in a few minutes with this for fun. I could do a lot more if theres interest for it though. I may make a more genuine 'muffle' version that some people may enjoy, as I can pretty admirably apply filters and hi-cut EQ to make it sound like the listener is actually inside her, though don't ask me to add gurgles/groaning/heartbeat, I don't feel like digging up appropriate sound files for that.

I have the day off so I can focus on it. I have been chewing on it for a while, trying to think of the right way to get that story across. I'm excited! The only thing I figure is that you'd want to cut some of the higher frequency end of the signal. The flesh of the belly would block some of that sound or otherwise reduce the amplitude in the higher ranges.

Yeah, the typical effect is achieved with a hi cut shelf but, in theory, we could pull out a much more believable sound (without sacrificing clarity) by applying multi-band compression on parallel tracks to separate frequencies. The 50 hz range is bliss for creating that 'muffle' but rather than just shelfing it down to that (which results in a sad warble of unintelligible bass which is, if we're being honest, the most realistic outcome, but sounds like trash) we could probably just emphasize it in one track, add some modeling reverb (small room), and use the other track with literally 100% mix of the reverb (no actual track, just the 'echo'), and no low-end EQ. Along with all of this, double every track used a second time, pan half of them left, half of them right and create a stereo effect that enables the good-headphone crowd to feel the sound literally surround them. (p.s. if you're listening to anything through laptop/phone speakers you will not benefit from like, anything im talking about here.)

The effect would produce the "Womm womm" low belly obscurity of the dialogue, as though through flesh, as well as a slight (like, barely a millisecond or so) delay to some barely-distant sounding clear vocals (With some muffling, but not as much).

i.e. we hear the low-end 'chest voice' surrounding you coming from the reverberations of her body and separately hear her 'head voice' coming not from within, but the actual sound waves that have left her lips traveled through the air, and only permeating the outer layer of belly.

This effect is not necessarily 'realistic' but would produce an appealing effect I think and yeah, with a LOT more work, you can accomplish similar results by jury-rigging Audacity and I encourage you to do so if you have the time! I've got the higher-end software which makes it all quite easy, but not the time to do much.

Not at all. I'm just a busy bee. Thursday was a 14 hour shift at work and I only got to it today.

I'm working at it though and added all my sound effects and what not.

I'm stalling though on releasing the audio until the finished product is ready. That consists of...

The script to my gallery, a set of manips linked in the script and also put on my manip thread, posting the audio here, as well as...

A renpy VN to tie it all together. I'm looking to visualize it all with the images the script said were going to be texted to the wife along with their subsequent correspondence.

It was going to be a surprise but I thought better to just give you feedback since I don't see it getting done until sometime Sunday.

Otherwise the take you did was fabulous. A couple breaks where I think I might not have been a clear enough director in how I imagined things being read but you actually nailed a few things I was worried wouldn't come off right without being in my head. Especially the part where you explain being on the crowded bus. I thought with that flurry of commas you might not get the pacing I was going for in a spoken voice but you shocked me. I couldn't have directed you better.

The only other thing is the pauses I mentioned could have gone longer for the audio I wanted to insert there. But I'm fixing it in post by splitting audio and time shifting to create silence.

Don't worry, you did great!

I'm also quite surprised at the lack of feedback here. Hestia, the readings were enthralling. Your skill at acting the part is developing quite nicely and it shows with the quality increase in each and every script you read.

A grateful shout-out to each of the authors as well. I genuinely enjoy this interesting medium and hope to see it expand!


Ryanshow, making audio edits? I hope you have success! I'm actually taking m own advice from earlier a little at a time. I've made a 15 second test/sample clip as a proof-of-concept that worked very well, just chipping away at wide application of the methods myself.
