I've always liked videos of big lizards gulping stuff. There is a lot of footage like this on the reptile channel on YouTube.

I legitimately wish nature was more like this, rather than so much of it being the most unpleasing kinds of "hard vore" the mind can imagine. I feel like putting on my science hat and checking how bears wolves and wild felines can be genetically modified to do that too

I have heard (from credible sources) of these things swallowing an entire pig. Having dealt with hams I know pigs have large and solid bones that are hell to break or cut outside of a butcher shop. I don't even know how a snake deals with that, much less a lizard.

Komodo Dragons have powerful jaw snaps capable of breaking bones, like alligators, I think, so yeah. Pretty amazing.

I'm not sure where the narrative that bone doesn't digest came from. In reality bone is very digestible, it's not difficult and every carnivore can do it. Some do it more efficiently than others, but bone definitely digests.

Has bacteria too, even if you survive you die later. Better just let it eat you.

I'm not normally a big fan of rip-and-tear vore, but the komodo makes it look good. Look at how easily komodos dominate and eat these stags.

I'm resurrecting this thread because of all the great komodo footage that is new in the past few months.

Considering Komodo dragons can eat hundreds of pounds of food, they could probably fit an entire extended family of monkeys in their belly (^///^)

There is a ton of great komodo footage being posted lately, I assume because rural southeast asia now has access to decent camera equipment for reasonable prices. Check out this brutal footage as a baby goat is swallowed alive headfirst - turn up the sound after 3 minutes to hear it in the lizard's stomach.
