Visualizing form and position of same-size prey

Postby AtmosRobot » Sat Dec 20, 2014 2:18 am

So, I've come to a stump in the current picture I am working on. F/F same-size, as is my prerogative. I want to shift away from drawing preds with ballooned bellies with odd bumps (a common complaint among big-bellied vore enthusiasts) toward more detailed impressions stretching the form of the belly. However, I am having some trouble visualizing how the prey's cramped form in a tight 3D space translates effectively into a 2D drawing. I don't want her belly to appear flat or otherwise tacked on.

For any of the more experienced artists here, how do you visualize prey in a cramped stomach? And what do you focus on to bring out the shape and give the feeling that the belly is taking up space?

Personally, I tend to actually sketch out the body of the prey inside of the predator. For this reason I don't really enjoy same-size vore, as you know, the prey wouldn't really be able to fit through the opening in the first place. But I'm sure you can still use the concept with same-size vore.

Here are some examples of how I do it: http://aryion.com/g4/view/285552 (this one's the closest to same-size) + http://aryion.com/g4/view/285481 + http://aryion.com/g4/view/285550 + http://aryion.com/g4/view/285564

Obviously you'd just be working with the pose sketch on the inside as reference for how it'd look on the outside, unless you want an internal view. :)

I've no prior experience with this but if I were to draw this, I'd look at photos of contortionists. You can get an idea of how tight body parts can bend within a small space. Many contortionists can squeeze into very small spaces. Just look at this http://img1.photographersdirect.com/img ... 355247.jpg .

Then you just need to work out how the shape would look when covered by tummy.

I would focus on showing hands, feet, faces - recognizable human parts.

A big tip on making things look 3D: Shading and highlights. Shading crevices and showing reflected light off of the pred's belly can help show the third dimension in a shape. It changes circles into spheres, after all.

I used to draw rough bulges that weren't really form-fitting(Exhibit A: http://theytpmaster100.deviantart.com/a ... -300691201 Exhibit B: http://theytpmaster100.deviantart.com/a ... -293202002 Exhibit C: http://theytpmaster100.deviantart.com/a ... -288623178), then I came across some vore bulge tutorials and saw that in one of them, the artist drew the parts of the prey sticking out of the pred's mouth and then sketched the parts inside, and just traced around. I started doing that(https://aryion.com/g4/view/391042 & https://aryion.com/g4/view/390493) and I also drew a bit of a "reality breaking" picture in which my neko pred character ends up eating me in real life(https://aryion.com/g4/view/390500). When I took the picture that I used for me curled up in her stomach, I just sat in a chair and curled up as tightly as I could. That also gave me ideas on how I should draw prey in same-size scenarios. So when in doubt, scrunch up tightly like you're in a stomach, and take tips from how that looks, I guess. I'm still new to vore bulges, though.
When in doubt, conquer Poland.
