Recently, I found this program on the internet, Call Eclipse Evolution 2.7
Its a free RPG maker, and gives you the ability to make a MULTIPLAYER game.

It's far too bad it won't run on a Mac or I'd use it myself.

RAGS is a pretty good game program too; though I'm not certain if it's Mac compatible either -.-

Eclipse has been around for ages. I worked with it a few years ago, and I've been helping a friend with a new project with it for a few weeks now.
It's default settings only make VERY simple online games, but if you know SadScript, you can do a lot in it.
Also, I'm pretty sure 2.8 is the newest version since that's what me and my friend are using.

Eh, Eclipse isn't insanely well-known, so it's not your fault or anything.
It was kinda the first game design program I used. :V
Funny thing is that it was a lot less buggy back in the Total Eclipse days.
