We're beginning the long process of porting the code to new Bay code. With this comes an open source code and with it goes my supreme dictatorship over the server. :P Please don't screw it up by scattering off into separate servers until the community is so fragmented it doesn't survive.

That all being said, VORE Station will be, in accordance to new Baystation license terms, available on Github in the days to come. I have no ETA on when the server will be updated to match that code. It's all early alpha stage for now as we port in old features.

I'm going to be looking into making us a proper forum. Maybe petition the mods here on Eka's to let me have a section for us. Either way we're going to get a damn forum for all the VORE servers.

Huh, might mess around with the code, in the unlikely event I can get BYOND to not suck long enough.

One concern is Github forbids obscene content, but I doubt this'll go above their radar. In any case, sounds like a good thing to seed on Gitttorrent. (Irrelevant side note, Github will also remove things for political reasons.)

Our content is no more obscene than normal SS13. They can't complain about what we do with this content. Only that we don't include porn in it.

Fair point - all the obscene stuff is RPed. Still, it limits the possibility of adding obscene props. But, putting it on GitHub is probably the best way to get contributions, it's not like they don't have a quasi-monopoly.

As much as my trolly admin WankerSonOfJerkin would love for me to add dildos so he can hit people with them, I'm not adding such lewd things.

Maybe a butt bot.

But only because he bribes me with pizza.

Think it is funny that SS13 has vomit and other body fluids but very few servers use them, though I have seen people on this server using eggs to simulate some of them... as well as one person that forced a vomit illness to RP puking someone up.... forget who did that I was spectating them and it was a while ago.

Yeah got to ask why the release prey option for oral vore doesn't have a vomit/ other setting, with the vomit setting causing the user to vomit up everything in there stomach. (might be useful to prevent lost items... though that may be impossible) while the other just releases the prey in an RP this out way.

-insert rambling about feature ideas that would never happen here-

Good news everyone! As we port to the new code, we now have a Github!

https://github.com/SpadesNeil/VOREstation (This URL is going to change in the future. Also the code that makes it VORE Station isn't there yet. I'm still learning how to use Github... so we just have a renamed copy of Baystation right now.)

After the Space Nazi event, once I finish that, I'm going to make available the link to the current, in-game code, so we can start porting changes and letting the community help out if they want.

So, with VORE now being based off latest Bay, does that mean we should be ripping Wiki articles from current version as opposed to pre-April 2014 now?

Well, we don't know how long the conversion will take, so we're just going to grab the old stuff right now, then update the main articles (Like surgery and the like). It's still good to get guidelines on how the mechanic works, our lore, and that sort of thing in the wiki for the moment.

EVENT on June 27th, 2015!
Event will start at 5:00PM, Eastern Standard Time. This time is subject to change, so please check this forum post frequently.

PRE-EVENT DETAILS:
Spoiler: show
A fleet with the United Nations Space Command recently appeared in Nanotrasen's Virgo sector, seeking a lost ship called the UNSC Jörmungandr. Their commander, Admiral Glenn Pink, has reason to believe that the Space Nazi vessel that destroyed the Icarus is the same as the lost vessel stolen from his fleet. Now, he's come to take it back. However, after half a decade of being MIA as far as UNSC records are concerned, he's short on men. This is where the station crew comes in. In exchange for the service of the station, Glenn Pink has offered to authorize the sale of surplus military equipment in the Virgo sector which would be beneficial to the station's protection against the Syndicate and other hostile groups. Yet, for many aboard the station, this isn't about the Syndicate, this isn't about the payment... It's about payback. It's about revenge. It's about loved ones. These Nazis took one of their own, and now threaten to enslave or wipe out an entire species of sentient called the Tajaran. The Jörmungandr, aptly-named after the world-swallowing serpent, was last seen on a course for the Tajaran homeworld, Ahdomai. After the crew's encounter with the Nazi stealth ship known as the Hraesveglur, or the 'corpse swallower', the crew knows the Nazis to be in possession of a prototype weapon that can create black holes. These 'singularity bombs' can wipe out an entire planet. You and your crew cannot allow the Nazi plans to fall through. Nanotrasen has surprisingly authorized support for the mission, probably thanks to Admiral Glenn Pink bribing Nanotrasen with the promise of exclusive access to captured Forerunner and Covenant technology that he has accumulated over his career.

Chance of vore in this event: Virtually zero. It's the end of the Space Nazi story arc. Vore is not a focus.

You know, you would think NT would be kind of invested in trying to stop the Nazi's from destroying Ahdomai due to the massive loss of morale amongst Tajaran employees and for PR purposes.

Also, lemme throw my music here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIrNvjszqcE

Nanotrasen doesn't take threats like this very seriously, as we've seen with the Redspace crisis. Also they like to deny involvement in the fact that the singulo bomb was their idea to begin with. If they just play the dunce, they can't lose stocks. If they get involved and fail people will go "Nanotrasen obviously had some role in this! IT WAS THEIR WEAPON! IT'S THEIR FAULT!" and they can't deny it.

Besides, destroying the planet is just one possible outcome of the Nazi plans. Maybe they just want to enslave them first with this weapon looming over their heads.

Of course, they could always send in [RETRACTED] because, you know, that's their job.

I'm gonna be posting up the old code in the next few days.

Right now I'm being lazy. Debating making a second thread for development's sake.

Bad news everyone.

The server had a critical hardware failure of some kind. We think the HDD died or something because it won't restart without bluescreening.

We're attempting a reinstall but make no promises about when it will be fixed. Probably soon. However some character data will have been lost. I hope you all made backups. Characters and changes to characters made after June 5th have been lost.

Since this has happened twice, we're abandoning this server company and we're going to move to a new one. That means I'm going to need donation money for the setup cost but wait until I know how much that is actually going to cost. Afterward, my buddy Kelse will be paying for it monthly again. That also means the IP address is due to change so stay posted on this thread.

EDIT: Also I keep forgetting to post the source code for the server. If anyone wants to help on Github, here's links both to the old code and the incompleted new code which I need your help to fully port. Because I keep stalling on that let me just POST THE GOD DAMN CODE ALREADY and get it over with. x.x Comes complete with changelogs for anyone who wants to actually help us import the old changes to the new code. The Dropbox link and all its data will eventually get deleted once the changes are fully completed and the server gets fully ported, but that's at least a couple months down the road.

Dropbox (current, stable code): https://www.dropbox.com/sh/f0hv69woe7vd ... KbJaa?dl=0
Github (new, incomplete code): https://github.com/SpadesNeil/VOREstation

Server is unfucked. Some data was lost like I said. But it's back now. Keep in touch for info regarding the move to a new serverbox and the setup fees involved.

EDIT: Oh wow setup fees are dirt cheap. Okay yea I got this. Donate if you want but the setup fee is like, 10 euros. That's it lol.

NANOTRASEN'S NEW ADDITIONS!

Earlier today, Nanotrasen launched five new custom built mining vessels. "These new ships will usher in a new way of collecting Plasma ... bringing it to everyone in civilized space." said one NT spokesman at the press conference. These collossal vessels are fully automated mining, processing, and shipping facilities, intended to work tirelessly in any envrionment for years at a time. NT hopes to use these new vessels to catapult the Plasma market into the borderworlds, as well as become the largest wholesaler of other mined materials such as diamonds, uranium, and mithril. Stock prices jumped fifteen points after the announcement, though NT officials say Plasma prices will remain high untill the new vessels undergo shakedown cruises and begin actual mining operations.

We will keep you up to date as this story develops.

Re: Multiplayer scifi RPG, VORE Station (down for server mov

Postby Aces » Fri Jul 10, 2015 7:12 am

Okay server is down again and we know why this time.

Because of these increasingly frequent failures of our current server, we stopped paying for it.

https://www.kimsufi.com/en/

We're trying to buy the KS-6 and that will be our new server. Much nicer than our old one. Since these things run out of stock as soon as they are replenished I have no idea when we'll get one.

If you want to help us, and you see one for sale, fire me a message on Skype quickly. Use Skype call to do it. Just texting me won't grab my attention fast enough. If I don't return the call, call again like 3 times at most. If I still don't pick up we're shit outta luck because I'm not home.

Good news is when the server comes back, it'll be with the groundwork for a forum and website. We'll all be leaving Eka's soon and having our own place to call home.

NANOTRASEN BREAKING NEWS

Earlier today, the Virgo Orbital Research Establishment, the famous Nanotrasen-owned Plasma and Redspace Research Facility in the Virgo sector recently was caught in the middle of a space whale migration and devoured. Unfortunately, this has been an unprecedented setback for the company's foothold in Virgo, and the company's administrators at Central Command in Virgo are scrambling to have a replacement station launched and online in the coming weeks. Employees wishing not to lose pay and hours for the company may continue to work for other planetside facilities for their usual salary, or may migrate to other stations for the time being.

Central Command's head administrator, Commodore Victor MacDaniel, told a press conference early this morning; "It's probably for the best. The station was not aging very well and needed to be replaced eventually. On the plus side we don't have to pay any demolition crews to do it for us. Demolishing a station isn't as simple as just bombing it into oblivion. It has to be carefully dismantled without letting debris fly into orbit, or put into a suborbital trajectory and left to burn up on re-entry. The former is safest and cheapest, but the latter is quicker. In this case, we don't have to do either. Some space whale did the job for us. We'll be able to use the money saved to fund other programs when the station is replaced, such as a community hypernet forum. Company headquarters back on Luna will be sending a brand new station as soon as possible. Until then, you'll all have to find other work for a few weeks, then we'll be back in business."
