It didn't get much interest at the time I was making it, so I assumed it was terrible. It didn't seem worth the effort to keep making it. So it is dead.

I wouldn't say it's TERRIBLE, just needs some work. I personally find the MC pretty cute.

This seems like a decent concept, but it won't be very entertaining without more work on animations and movement. If you want to make this play as an action game, I would suggest you try to implement an attack timing mechanic. To start with, get three sprites per enemy - static, windup, and attacking. Rotate the enemy through each of these states as they try to attack. That way the player can move in and out to land hits with proper timing. Then you give the player the same treatment, and create a few weapons with different attack timing.

The way the game controls and the way the menus are set up suggest that you are building this from the ground up, and probably haven't done a similar project in the past. I would spend some time working on mouse control and UI, knowledge of those features will help with any project you may do in the future.
