so Erika is completely my fav now. The voice and animations are awesome (Though a couple lines aren't being spoken but i cannot recall which. she was losing at the time.)
Do you have any plans to perhaps update prior dealers with at the least, voice lines? i think it'd be a great addition!

Well, figured out how to play it on the Mac, and it's awesome! I'm not even a pred sort of person and I still loved the win screens! The new dealers are pretty tough, especially Erika, but once I got the hang of using the cheats and such, I was able to (b)eat them. I got lucky and beat Marie and Lexie both on the first try though.

If you allow the game to download the extra data, I think it's trying to extract the image you've unlocked. I never trued playing without getting the extra data though, so i don't know what it does, or doesn't do then.

Umm... how DO I uninstall it? I deleted and re downloaded the file, but all the progress is still there so it doesnt give me the option to download the extra data

Hi everyone! Glad we're enjoying so far!! I've gotten some great feedback, great questions, and no game-crashing horrible bugs (so far)! Success! Let's dig into the viewer mailbag:

Jadex, yessss; I can't figure out when that happens--it's happened to me once too. There was another bug that caused that back in version 2, which is solved, but I still occasionally see it. I'll keep searching!

RedmanQ, DjConnorJ, Userunnown, chaosnasder, no Android version for now (first thing mentioned in the update post--sorry for the wall of text!). I'll be looking into it but can't guarantee there is one. Basically, started the game 3 years ago in GameMaker Studio 1, and that dev kit is no longer in development since GameMaker Studio 2 came out this year. Usually, importing to the new one is easy, but I didn't follow best practices for handling text in GMS1, so it's messy going to GMS2. So, if I'm unable to get a working Android apk out of the old version, I'll be stuck without one. I've learned *quite* a lot about best practices thanks to this game

biggiesmall, There's some repetition because there's 9 game states, and each one has between 10 and 30 statements, selected at random. The smaller numbers are for states that occur less often (for example, "intro" occurs at the start of the first hand played against a dealer after the lobby screen (10 statements), while "neutral" occurs whenever the player and dealer have similar money (30 statements). There's also "story" lines--when the dealer says something, and then continues the statement with a follow-up on the next hand. Those are queued, and never replay unless all other statements have been used, in order to avoid "arrow to the knee" stories.

vayne358, success! We were hoping people would fall for little Erika There's currently no plans for going back and adding VO to past dealers for a 2 reasons; One, can't find anyone to voice these! Two, some of the dealers before Erika have variable voice lines (nobody ever noticed). Can't do that with voice files ><. Never say never, of course--the game is programmed flexibly to allow voice to be slotted into any dealer--but I don't know how it would come about~

Kamelagram, YES! I...should have explained that a bit. When you're playing against any dealer that you've beaten at least 1 time, there'll be a little gold icon hiding in the lower left of your screen. Mouse over it to see your tokens. If you use one, the dealer will instantly lose all of her money, making it a lot easier to win. When it was first introduced, this was a kind of hidden "easter egg" feature for repeat-winners. Kinda wishing I'd made it more obvious now~~

Phorcyz19, Glad you got it to play! I'm guessing that the loading icon thing is not working quite right because of the Mac port, but here's the basic idea:

When you beat a dealer, and get a photo icon in your rewards, the game will extract one high-resolution wallpaper of that dealer from an asset package. The reward image is stored in the %localappdata%\Blackjack4 folder on a windows computer--not sure where local storage would go on a Mac. The game *also* loads the image into a web browser page, so you can see it immediately without digging through content folders.

I have it open in a browser because there's kind of a silly problem; Many dealers (all but 2) have much, much higher quality artwork than what you see in the game--the artists delivered images that greatly exceeded the game's dimensions. I wanted a way to reward people with higher-quality art (and also, it would serve as a kind of "gallery"--a frequently requested feature). But I can't show that in-game, because the artwork is bigger than the game window! So...browser loads. I'm guessing that however it's gotten working on the Mac, it must not know how to interpret the browser loading command ><

If you downloaded the extra data, it's usually sitting in the working directory for the game--again, emulating on Mac, it might go somewhere unexpected ><

^Right-click and save to your %localappdata%\Blackjack4 folder, and you'll have everyone up to Erika unlocked (with a clean win/loss record and no cheats or tokens. Theoretically impossible game ;D )

I honestly didn't know that queens take away some of the value for this game's version of blackjack. (Which isn't true. Queens are meant to add a value of 10. But there are some cards that have blank symbols, and just numbers, IE: a card that isn't a spade, heart, etc. Just a white card with a number.) You also aren't allowed to split after the first hit/draw, which Lexie clearly does.

Lexie is my favorite dealer though, she's cold, collected, mostly expressionless. (Still cannot beat her, so can't challenge the next two.)

Something that I had found rather irksome was that you were forced to lose in order to even get a chance at winning. I (honestly) do not enjoy the prey content, it makes me feel uncomfortable and unpleasant, so to be told that I should buy the cheats and then lose so that I can win next game is rather irritating. And the game encourages that line of thinking by having your winnings disappear. On top of that if you are losing there is nothing you can do, If you leave your money stays the same and that there is where the advantage of the player is taken away. As a player, if we are losing we can leave and go get more money or come back another day, we are not bound by a winner-take-all scenario.

It would have been nice to see permanent upgrades or an all match cheat. Clairvoyance is a useless cheat but if it lasted all game it would have been much more useful (and expensive). Peek has the same issues.

It is annoying, knowing that I have to sit through content that I just don't want to go through makes me not want to play... Despite how much I do truly love this game. There are very few games where I can play a pred and this one has some fun pred content.

Kitsouille, asked, but definitely worth repeating; Zan is actually a bit of a joke about that ;D Her artist, Zalzas was hoping to have Zan "cheat a little more than the others" because she's a space-pirate....and was surprised to discover that there's no AI in the game tweaking the odds; the dealers play straight casino rules, hitting on 16 and under, and the cards are genuinely shuffled. The only one who can cheat is you! Amusingly, you can pretty seriously monkey with things, too--by adding Aces to the deck with cheats, you legit mess up the deck until you leave the table! But, to answer your question, the dealers don't actually cheat, but as a running joke, I slipped in lots of lines where Zan talks like she's cheating. Some players have already found the mismatches--sometimes she says she's going to deal you a bad hand and turns up a Blackjack for you~~
