See this post of mine for an answer to this question. :P

Note that in the linked post, the last paragraph/idea has already been addressed/fulfilled by Sriseru, via the new "fatality threshold" feature introduced in a0.46.0, and that I expanded in my patch, adding fun actions by the predator when begging, and a slowed down digestion rate to prolong this "too far gone" state, letting some time for the player to enjoy it and explore their (limited) options. :D

Voracious patch v2.40 for It's a Gluttonous Life a0.46.0

Postby voraphile » Thu Jan 02, 2025 10:27 am

Here is the "voracious patch" v2.40 for a0.46.0 and a0.47.0 (1):

The following changes apply both to the a0.46.0 to a0.47.0 versions of the game and cumulate with all former versions changes (look at their respective change logs for details):
  • Made antacid tablets/packs also effective for herbivores, and made the difference in how effective antacids and antipeptics are depending on the predator type a bit less unrealistic (3). Adjusted Elaine's explanations about them to match the new algorithm. As a result, Elaine will also accept to eat the player character if they have either an antipeptic or antacid pack on them.
  • Factored time-ticking code during vore scene, which also fixed a few missing updates in the various promises (to be let out, to provide food, etc) counters.
  • In willing vore scenes, do not any more prevent the prey to ask for food or lifesaver after they begged to be released and the predator promised to let them out later on.
  • Properly account for the fatality threshold for several dialogues instead of using fixed 50% and 25% health levels to choose between their three versions. Also applies to the prey_beg_to_let_out dialogues (7 levels).
  • Work in progress/still under consideration (feature disabled for now): added code for painkiller tablets support.

The following changes apply only to a0.47.0 (1)(2):
  • Fixed a bug introduced in a0.47.0 and which was causing the belly size of the predator to be improperly selected to display the corresponding picture: they were displayed with a flat belly while the prey was in the intestines, and some predators where displayed with a barely rounded belly (way too small, if to follow this size chart) while the character was in their stomach or womb.
  • Reintroduced the fix for the bug that caused Elaine to disappear from the screen after a first dialogue exchange in various venues (e.g. at the Hospital or in the Park).
  • Reintroduced some missing vore metabolism tick calls.
  • Reintroduced my modified intro code so that, when starting a new game, you are prompted for the player character's genitals type and chest type (breasted or not) as well as for the character's Attributes before the intro starts at the hospital, to prevent really silly questions from Elaine in the latter scene (obviously, the hospital already knows all about the player character's physical characteristics).
  • Reintroduced the configurable user interface setting for the 24 hours clock and international date format in preferences. When enabled, this also causes all time tables and dialogues to use the 24 hours clock.
  • Reintroduced the alternate stats window layout setting in preferences.
  • Reintroduced the configurable vore settings (anal vore, unbirth, NPC preys) in preferences.
  • Reintroduced the fixes for the bad tests in the code, relatively to the configured NPC prey setup (npcprey_setup != "Exclusive" -> npcprey_setup == "Full"), which could otherwise cause you to share the belly of a predator with a NPC while you don't want this to happen.
  • Reintroduced the "Butthole Gourmet" and "Full Tour" achievements, and all the corresponding consequences and dialogues they enable in the game once fulfilled.
  • Reintroduced proper begging dialogues (instead of barely polite requests to be let out). I.e. "please" -> "pretty please", or "I beg you", etc...
  • Reintroduced the fun actions of the predators when begging to be released while far past the fatality threshold.
  • Reintroduced personalized dialogues for some predators (better matching their respective personality), when they refuse to let the player character out.
  • Reintroduced a confirmation dialogue when your are in good terms with Elaine and asking her to be digested while inside her belly (matches her reluctantness to eat the player character when they ask her).
  • Reintroduced many of the predators' fun emotes replacing/improving most of the (too many) bland burps/moans.
  • Reintroduced player character reactions (moan, groan, whimper, wiggle, squirm, etc) and corresponding lust changes to predator random emotes and refusal to free them.
  • Reintroduced the possibility for Bessie to propose the unbirth job to the player character when unbirth is disabled.
  • Reintroduced "anonymous" predator comments in reaction to the player character's masturbation, while the predator is unaware they ate them.
  • Reintroduced Jasmine's schedule fixes/improvements.
  • Reintroduced the randomization of the vore scene type with Euthalia on the Secluded beach, when "Digestion unbirth" is enabled.
  • Reintroduced the "gluttonous vore" scene opportunity when chatting with Euthalia on the secluded beach.
  • Reintroduced hygiene stats change when swimming at sea, to be more realistic (bathing in the sea will clean you up, and will just give you a saltier taste :-9).
  • Reintroduced the disabling of relationship decay over time when configured for "Uncapped" relationships.
  • Reintroduced the "leave home" and "go to parking" entries to the "Action" menu for all rooms of Elaine's, Jasmine's and Sigrid's homes.

(1) Patch for a0.47.0 will be made available by Sriseru via the paying users' channels. Please allow for some delay in the publication of this patch, due to time zones and schedules discrepancies.
(2) In this change log, Reintroduced means that the feature/fix was left out from previous voracious patch versions and did not get backported to the official version.
(3) This is what I wrote in comments in the patch code about this issue:
Spoiler: show
Note: pepsin is a digestive enzyme designed to break down peptids (proteins being themselves made of polypeptids), and hydrochloric acid serves to contribute to protein digestion by supplying H+ ions which activates pepsinogen, the precursor to pepsin. All types of animals do have pepsin and hydrochloric acid in their gastric juices, but for herbivores, only in their abomasum (herbivores are using microbial fermentation in the other compartments of their stomach to break down the cellulose of their vegetal food). Given the player character is made mostly of flesh (proteins), the effect of antacid and antipeptic tablets should be exactly the same for all types of predators. However, this is (sadly) not how the game was originally coded so, to keep more or less the same "balance" as in former versions of the game, I kept an illogical and unrealistic algorithm, but made it a little less imbalanced.

You may apply this patch following the same methods as described for v1.30, using one of the two following files:

Ugh, damn. Personally I don't care about the death aspect I'm just here for the vore. With Flurby not around, that's the endo/reform mod KIA too.

Since the game doesn't autosave and I have ADHD, I don't like losing hours of progress for doing the thing that's the entire point of the game in the first place.

There was intended to be an autosave feature, but I never got it to work properly. Basically, it would autosave whenever you wake up after sleeping (provided that you're not in a pred's belly or about to be). I'll try to get it working in a future update.
That said, it doesn't take much time and effort at all to save manually. It's literally just two or three keystrokes.

It's not about the effort, it's about being involved in the game and forgetting lmao.

Honestly just want the endo/reform mod working again.

For the EndoReformMod, there is a ZeroDivisionError oversight that can potentially trigger in when playing (as I had it triggered myself). The culprit is the following formula found in vore_endo.rpy:

Code: Select all
$ charisma_check = (player_charisma * temp_relationship_mod) / (0.01 * (100 + pred.relationship_digest_threshold - pred.relationship))

The ZeroDivisionError is due to pred.relationship_digest_threshold being able to be 0 and having the pred.relationship set to 100 (i.e. maximum a relationship with a character). This means that the denominator becomes 0.01 * (100 + 0 -100), which is 0.01 * (100 - 100), which is zero. A bandaide solution to this would be to simply change this so that it is a try-except statement whenever this formula is used in the script file:

Code: Select all
python:
    try:
        charisma_check = (player_charisma * temp_relationship_mod) / (0.01 * (100 + pred.relationship_digest_threshold - pred.relationship))
    except ZeroDivisionError:
        charisma_check = (player_charisma * temp_relationship_mod) / (0.01 * (100 + pred.relationship_digest_threshold - pred.relationship + 0.001))

Without further diving into the code and scripting for this game, this seems to completely fix the issue with no odd behavior; however, if I am understanding the formula correctly, this should still result in expected behavior.

Also for some reason, my health bar was maxed, but also red. This seems to make it so that I can never be let out of a stomach. Is there a way to heal back to green? This happened after I escaped through the duodenum of the sharkgirl.

I've updated my UI mod with a few fixes to handle issues identified with 0.46. There are no content or functional changes. The new version is 1.2.1 and can be found either on the game discord or earlier in this thread.

The same happened to me too also with Jasmine and with a cat prey but 1a instead. I think it may be due to a simple pathing issue because decompiling the images.rpa file shows that the files do exist. So, it is looking for that image in a certain image only for being unable to find said image file in said location. So, it throws an error.

Sriseru, Quick question, is it possible that you could add the endo mod permanently to the game, since it seems the dude is dead?

Interesting. I'll patch this later but the circumstances to produce this are that your lethal threshold is equal to your maximum health. If you for some reason set your lethal threshold to 100 when starting a game, you might want to try like 90 or 95 instead in the mean time. It may also come about using the dynamic threshold, but I haven't looked into the math there.

I'm pretty sure I picked dynamic threshold, but for a long time I couldn't get the bar to go back to green. Somehow the voracious patch fixed it.

I also changed the setting of unbirth to entrapment after installing the voracious patch. Not sure if it matters or not.

I tried attaching a copy of the save file, but for some reason the server just hangs and eventually timesout.

This is a not a random effect, but the result of the bugfix for dynamic threshold in a0.46.0, and that I implemented in the Voracious patch (that fix was adopted by Sriseru in a0.47.0). However, should you revert to the un-patched game, the threshold will progressively again raise each time your character is swallowed or released from a belly.

This won't change anything for that bug.

Oh didn't realise it was already in a0.47.0.

Thank you, Sriseru, Voraphile, Seifens, and anyone else who contributed, I love this game!

Sadly, you must die... I don't like it either. :-/

Not going to lie, while I was perusing the board and I saw you also had found the cheating thing dumb, I was glad that I was not the only one! I know its silly, but I just think it's pointless to include an anti-cheater thing on a vore game when most of us just come to play for a little bit while we are horny.

With that said, I was going to post a big long reply ranting about the anti-cheat and how I detest it, but upon reflection before I could post my tirade, I realize that maybe I had missed the point.

when I first tried this game back in like version 0.21 or something like that, I would have kept my opinion that including an anti-cheat for a vore game is stupid, but the game has come a looooooooooong way since then, and the developer has added a lot more content between new preds, new vore ways (oral, AV, UB, etc), and its obvious the dev is still working and putting out more content with more planned on the way. In doing so, I realized that this is indeed becoming a game, not just a flash vore game, and I gotta appreciate the effort and the time spent doing so. If the anti-cheat wasn't there, I could just do what I did on earlier builds and spam my way with money and make it a joke. But that would take away some of the grind and in some ways part of the fun.

All this to say that while I might not like the Jasmine calling me a cheater (and yeah I definitely cheated twice so shame on me in my current game since my last save was incompatible), I definitely understand the reasoning why and appreciate the effort the dev has put into a free game that is indeed becoming one of the best games I have found on Ekas!
