It's time to write a new short post of the Size Difference World game devlog.

Well, let's get back to the topic.

As I said before, the main character is having a great time in a public bathhouse. From the discussion with his companion girl, it becomes clear that, in the near future, new contacts and the story progression are coming.
A small digression... From the new part of the scenario, sent to me by my friend Shiphtur (thank you very much for your help), it became clear to me that the story prepares us unexpected story twists and turns.... But that's in the future... Please keep an eye on my public devlog posts so you don't miss out on all the fun stuff...
And while the main character got some time to relax in the bathhouse after an unexpected journey through the sewers, I'm busy creating images for a new cutscene.
Technically, creating images is the easiest job for me. However, it's the job that requires the most time.
This week, I was able to create three new images for the bathhouse cutscene. Next week I will be creating images again. I will try, if possible, to make more images than I did this week... The week after that, I'll probably go back to work on the continuation of the scenario.
The new images have already been added to the working build of the game.

It's another Sunday, and I'm continuing the devlog with the new post, as usual.

Well, let's get back to the topic.

The plot of the game, at the moment, has stopped with the protagonist having a good time in the bathhouse with his new girlfriend. And this is reflected in the new images I was able to create this week.
I have had, quite by chance, a little more free time than usual. I spent that time creating an additional image for the game, so this time I got not three, but four images. I can't guarantee that I'll be able to create as many images next week, but I'll keep trying.
About next week. I have a small part of the scenario waiting to be added to the game. Many thanks to my friend Shiphtur for helping with the scenario.
Right now I'm thinking about whether I should continue creating the remaining images for the bathhouse cutscene, or switch, temporarily, to the scenario. I've been creating images for two weeks in a row, and it might be a good time to switch to a different kind of work. Either way, I still have time to think about it.

Today is Sunday and no force majeure has happened. That means it's time for a new devlog post.

Well, let's get back to the topic.

This week I have, temporarily, put off creating images for the cutscenes, and switched to adding a new small part of the scenario to the game (many thanks to my friend with the nickname Shiphtur for the scenario).
The main character meets a girl he has met before. The events of this short meeting slightly frighten the protagonist with some uncertainty. However, something incredible happens next...

Taking this opportunity to avoid creating a separate post, I want to write a little bit about my second game Final Exam here.
A lot of people ask how things are going with the development of this game, and why the working build is not updated.
I assure you that the development of the game is continuing to the best of my ability.
Due to the fact that many people find Final Exam very difficult, I'm currently working on a simplified version of the game.
The main part of the work at the moment is the development of new levels. This work is routine and boring, so I don't think it's necessary to write about it. Why I don't update the working build of Final Exam? It's very clear. I use the paid Construct 3 engine for development, which includes a subscription fee. Recently, my paid period came to the end. I can continue to develop and test the game, but I can't create a build of the game.
I don't know how much longer the game development will last, and I don't want to waste my subscription money. I have decided that I will completely finish the Final Exam game, after which I will buy a monthly engine subscription to create a build. I think that's the right thing to do.
Sometimes I'll do posts about the progress of the game's development.
Updating the working build of Size Difference World game will happen as often as before.

Just a reminder that as part of the latest scenario changes, the main character meets “old acquaintances”. An attempt to mend a damaged relationship turns into an embarrassment. However, it does reveal some gameplay features to the player.
Perhaps the next meeting with an “old acquaintance” will be more successful... Although, who knows?
The best way to find out what happens next is to follow my posts.
This week, while waiting for the new part of the scenario (thanks to my friend with the nickname Shiphtur for helping me with the scenario) I continued creating images for the cutscenes. The new images have already been uploaded to the locked folder, as well as to the working build of the game.

I'm continuing the devlog.

Well, let's get back to the topic.

Recently, my friend with the nickname Shiphtur sent me a new small part of the scenario (many thanks to Shiphtur for his help).
The first time I read this part, it seemed to me that nothing significant was going on in it - the usual “passable” dialog. However, reading the text again, I realized that it contains a delicate hint of future intrigue. Despite the fact that there are no significant and vivid events (such as, for example, the incident with Jane from the previous scenario part), the player becomes Scarlet's debtor. And Scarlet, apparently, is not what she appears to be. This is exactly the impression we get if we carefully read the past dialogs with her.
I hope I was able to intrigue someone at least a little bit. I'll start transferring the new part of the scenario into the game next week. This week I created new images for the previous cutscene. All images have already been added to the working build of the game, as well as the private gallery.

I want to say a little bit about my second game Final Exam.
As I said before, I am busy developing a light version of this game.
The light version doesn't cancel the full version. The full version will be made for Steam, and I will do it after the light version is finished.
I also already said that I can't make the working build of Final Exam, as my subscription to the Construct 3 engine has expired. Right now I'm on a free subscription, which doesn't allow me to create executables.
The paid subscription will be purchased by me once I'm sure the game is ready to be published.
I am currently creating game levels. Most of the levels have already been created, and the first two levels already have enemies placed there. I just have to finish the last location of the last level. After that I need to draw new enemies for the new levels. After that I will need to create the bosses.
There will be five levels in the light version of Final Exam, so I will need to create five bosses.
The locations, by the way, will be eight.

It's the weekend again, which means it's time to continue the devlog.

Well, let's get back to the topic.

As I said earlier, the main character had a failed attempt at a good relationship with Jane. After that, Scarlet decided to help the protagonist a bit, but only in exchange for a favor.
Things seemed to be getting better, but I hope attentive players will notice something strange in Jane's behavior after her conversation with Scarlet. Again, it gives the impression that Scarlet is not at all what she appears to be.
My friend with the nickname Shiphtur, the author of the script, tried his best to convey this hidden strangeness in the text. And when I, later, create the necessary images for this cutscene, it will be expressed more explicitly... At least I hope so... For now, I tried to draw as strange an avatar for Jane as possible, which is displayed in the dialog box. I hope I've succeeded. In any case, all avatars will be redone in the final version.
What's waiting for the protagonist next? After all, he, now, owes Scarlet a favor...

Well, let's get back to the topic.

Last week was the week of creating new images for the cutscenes.
As a reminder, according to the last added part of the scenario, the player is meeting girls he has met before. With some of them the player makes a good relationship. With some others - quite the opposite. It would seem that trying to improve the relationship does not lead to anything, but, on the contrary, makes things worse.
Sudden help seems to fix the situation. At the same time, the mind of an attentive player does not leave the feeling of something wrong. Most likely, the main trouble has not yet begun. After all, everything that happened before is just the beginning of the story.
And what helps make the story colorful are the cool size-difference images.
Unfortunately (and I've said this many times), I can't create new images as quickly as I can add new parts of the script to the game. I have to, first, add stub images to the game, and then, gradually, fill in the stub images with real images.
Not all images have their final look (especially the earliest ones), and many of them will be reworked in the final version of the game.
New images have already been added to the private gallery, and today these images were added to the working build of the game.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a few words about my second Final Exam game.
The development has not stopped, but on the contrary, is in full swing. All the levels for the light version of the game have already been completed. Next in line is the development and placement of enemy girls on the levels. After that, the turn will come to the development of bosses.
After the bosses it will be the turn of the most technically easy, but the longest part of the development - the creation of images for the cutscenes. Fortunately, there are far fewer images in Final Exam than in Size Difference World. If things go well and there are no force majeure events, the game will be ready this year. If things go really well - the game will be completed this summer!
Unfortunately, as I said before, I can't show the working build of Final Exam because I don't have the subscription fee for Construct 3 paid (Construct 3 is the engine on which the game is written). Right now, I can only test the game within the development environment.
I will make the payment for the engine before the game is released.

Well, let's get back to the topic.

My friend Shiphtur is continuing to write a cool scenario for the game, for which I thank him very much.
At the moment he is thinking about the next chapter of the scenario, trying to come up with as many interesting and exciting moments as possible.
Shiphtur promises exciting plot twists and intrigue in the future. I won't, for now, go into details so as not to give away all the secrets. I will only say that not all the characters are who they seem to be. Thus, events, in the future, will progress quite differently than can be expected.
But we will move towards these events gradually. As fast as we would like to finish this development, writing a scenario and adapting it for a game is a very difficult process.
Actually, another process is no less difficult - creating images for the game. I would also like to take this opportunity to say a big thanks to my friend and one of my longest standing patrons, user Sam Smith, for his help in creating the images.
This week we continued creating images for the main character's dialog with Jane. As a reminder (in case anyone didn't know), the dialog, at the time of the last images created, was not very pleasant.
What's waiting to happen next? The best way is to keep an eye out for further posts on the devlog.
New images were added to the private gallery yesterday. Today the images have been added to the working build.

And, so as not to create a separate post for my second game, I will write here about the size-difference platformer Final Exam.
Last time I already said that for the light version of this game all levels are collected. And the first two levels are already filled with enemy girls. Now I need to draw enemy girls for the remaining three levels. After all, the set of enemies for different levels will be different.
I'm not going to guess about the deadlines, because the circumstances may turn out as fate wills. I'm devoting every spare minute I have to the development of the game, trying to finish it as quickly as possible.
I will not repeat myself about my life situation. Who reads my devlog for a long time, knows. If someone doesn't know, please read my earlier posts, if interested.

Well, let's get back to the topic.

As always, I want to write about Size Difference World first.
Work on the game is in full swing. My friend with the nickname Shiphtur is working hard on the script, tirelessly coming up with interesting and exciting features. As always, I thank him very much.
And even if now the part of the story that has already been put into the game seems ordinary and everyday, in the near future everything will change. Shiphtur has promised very, very much interesting things. It's just that he's bringing the story to those moments gradually.
Well, while the script is being written, me and my other friend with the nickname Sam Smith (many thanks to Sam Smith for his help) are creating images for the cutscenes that have already been created and those that are just getting ready to be created.
If anyone is reading me for the first time right now (or if anyone has forgotten), I'll remind that we are doing game development in our spare time, and we have very little spare time. Unfortunately, we are, for now, unable to leave our main jobs and devote ourselves entirely to game development.
The last thing that was added to the game was a conversation scene between the main character, Scarlet and Jane. Something strange happened when Scarlet and Jane removed themselves for a private conversation. Jane, unexpectedly, became kind and cooperative. Why? Honestly, I don't know. It's still an intrigue even to me. I'm really hoping for an explanation that no one could ever imagine.
All of the images for the aforementioned cutscene were finalized this week. These images were created relatively quickly as they were made from existing images. As a consequence, there was some free time at the end of the week, and one image for a future secondary cutscene was created.
This image has been added as an attachment to this post. The rest of the images have been added to the special section of the private gallery.

And, taking this opportunity, and in order not to create a separate post, I will write a few words about the second game Final Exam.
I continue to create sprites and behaviors for the missing enemies. At the moment I have three enemies left to create, after which I will move on to creating bosses.
And after the bosses are created, I'll start creating images for the cutscenes.
If all goes well, I hope to have the game ready this summer.
Let me remind that I am currently making this game in the free version of Construct 3 engine. The free version does not allow to create a build of the game, and can only run the game in the development environment. And for the paid version of Construct 3, I have to pay every month (or a year in advance). This I can't afford, so I will create a build when the game is fully ready.

I'm continuing to develop the game, and today is the day of the new devlog post.

Well, let's get back to the topic.

For those who are reading me for the first time, and haven't read my other posts yet, I want to say that I do game development in the late evenings and nights, after my main jobs and household chores. I'm a single mother with two kids, so it's easy to understand that, unfortunately, I don't have as much time for game development as I'd like. Despite the fact that some of my friends help me as much as they can (thank them very much for that), I still have to do most of the work myself. But I try to do my best to create quality content.
The storyline of the game stops at the events after the mysterious conversation between Scarlet and Jane. After this conversation, Jane, suddenly, became kind and cooperative...
No matter what, one of the main character's goals is achieved: Jane is no longer his enemy. This is Scarlet's merit, and for this favor Scarlet asked the protagonist to make a journey with her to another town... But, before that, the protagonist needs to go somewhere else...
The next part of the script is currently in development, and I will not say anything about it yet to keep things interesting.
I will, however, tell what was done this week.
And this week one of the secondary scenes was added. In the future, there will be many more such scenes, and the outcome of such scenes may lead to completely unexpected events...

The images for this scene, for now, have been replaced by stubs, as I, unfortunately, can't create images as fast as I can write text. Any missing images will be created later.
One of the images for this cutscene was created last week. The second image for this cutscene was created this week.

As a recent tradition, I will write a little about my second game Final Exam. I will create a separate post for this game when the game is fully finished and I have purchased a subscription to the Construct 3 engine to create a working build. As a reminder, Final Exam is created on Construct 3, the free version of which does not allow creating independent builds.
At the moment, I have the third level (out of five) completely finished. The only thing missing in the level is images for the cutscenes. I will create images in the final stage of development, when all levels are finished.

Well, let's get back to the topic.

I've been busy this week writing and correcting the new part of the scenario. I will start moving this part into the game next week, as there wasn't time for it this week.
There are some interesting new plot twists in the continuation of the game. The main character meets with Laraya and her friends. He tells them about his upcoming plans, which elicits mixed reactions from the girls.
On the one hand, what the main character is planning may help him get out of the game he has gotten himself into. On the other hand, it could lead to greater dangers.
The girls are trying to convince the main character that there are, perhaps, other ways to get back to the real world, and they are fully committed in finding those ways. Of course, it is possible that what the girls are talking about could lead to even greater dangers. But after all, that is what is the key to a good adventure.
The main character will face a choice that will affect the further development of the plot and what adventures will take place.
And, of course, the actions of this part of the scenario will not do without piquant situations related to the difference in the size of the girls and the main character.
All of this, so far, has not been transferred to the game, as I didn't have time this week. But, nevertheless, the working build has been updated, though the update was minor.
I had some time left this week to create another image for a secondary cutscene. What the cutscene is was told in a previous post.
I would like to point out that even though the cutscene is minor, it can lead to unexpected results.
