It IS an RPG, and part of the point is exploring to find side quests. Games like Skyrim don't even guide you to every last quest. I do want to try and make at least the main quests stand out a bit more, but due to the mechanics of way they unlock its difficult to do without breaking things or making the underlying mechanics a hard-to-track mess or waste a lot of switch/variable slots. Mostly switch ones, since relying on variables for that might require people to restart, which is last thing I want to do. And to be honest, even doing it via switches might force that. Probably could have made it work in a cleaner fashion had I caught it early on, but this IS my first RPG Maker project, so I didn't have the experience to foresee stuff like that.

Will take a look and see what can do to make the main events clearer, but as I said, problematic.

And just as a side note about the list's innkeeper one, that is something I should have clarified a bit better. The person outside is a guest in the inn part (the upstairs rooms), which the staff keeps open when Aurine's away. Probably should have explained that somewhere, so will change that person's dialogue a bit to make it clear. Its just the bar that's shut, so no point in Lissi going in before Aurine's return.

EDIT : Just changed patron's dialogue a bit. They also give slightly different dialogue once Aurine returns now as a bit of a flag. I've also made Glory pace slightly outside church once conditions for her quest have been met. Not going to reupload for such minor changes, but they'll be in next update. Holding off on giving a Freya hint since she's only involved in one side quest at the moment (one of the two currently working on).

Maybe if the nun said, "Maybe they'll come back to me in a few days" or the conversation slowly changed by day 2 being "Anything?" "Nope". Maybe for some they sort of felt like they weren't going to say anything new, like the non-friend characters in the Town Hall.

Aside from that, it was only the patron that was particularly bugging me as it seemed contradictory as she was hiding from someone that wasn't there.

Update 0.07 : Booze Secrets and Christmas -
Been trying to finish the next update for a whilst, but kept getting delayed. Part of it was life getting a bit hectic, with various issues and the occasional illness. And the other part was my bad habit rearing its head of deciding to add new stuff on a whim instead of finishing what I was doing. Need to stop doing that, but when I get an idea, I end up acting on it before I can forget... and then forget the other thing, lol...

Was originally mainly meant to focus this update on two side quests - one for Caitlin, one for Aurine. Technically the Caitlin one IS complete - but I have to rewrite her scenes, plus add more, due to the way that quest ends. Since I haven't had time or mood to finish those scenes, I just locked it off and instead focused on getting the Christmas update out, since was running out of time for it.

First, the side quest I did add in - Aurine's. Talking to her will begin this quest, but be warned - its MEANT to be challenging. Not only will you not have access to Lissi, but you'll need to buy items in advance to use mid-quest. Its a side quest, so entirely optional, but it can give some good rewards if you finish it, including a new ability for Rosa that'll make her a lot easier to keep alive. This quest was the one that took me longest to put together though, because it contains a lot of conflicting variables. If you have any issues with the quest's functions, do let me know.

The second main bit of this update is the Christmas event. Now I'll say straight off that this event WAS a bit rushed, and if I'm still working on this next year, I'll likely fix it up then. But it's at least got an okay amount of content, and like the halloween one, two possible ending scenes. Normally, this event would run from 15th December to 5th January, but since I got delayed getting it out, I've temporarily set it for 18th to 8th instead. I'll change this when I get next update out, which'll almost certainly be after 8th is over with, so people won't miss out.

There's a fair bit of minor content changes as well, as a result of previously mentioned adding stuff on a whim. For one thing, Devour Village now has more in it in an attempt to bring it a bit more to life, including a building that can grant a player-as-prey vore scene if you mess around there. I've added in the vore scene for those who captured Ori during Demonic Edging quest, and added in a new scene available for those who saved Ori instead, if they captured rather than killed Cilrine. The latter scene is mostly intended as a way for me to test out making sex animations thanks to me finally finding a decent template for them. Also, I've added in some clues to help guide players to the main quests when they become available.

There's some other stuff too, but I won't go into everything on this post. Check the changelog for a full (I think...) list of stuff added. I will say this though - there's a lot of variables and switch controls going on in this update, and I couldn't test every last possiblity, so there may very well be bugs, not just in Aurine's quest. If you see any, please do let me know.

MORE DETAILED POST ON 0.08 RESTART REQUIREMENT :
As I said in the note on main post, the next update will require a restart. And again, I do apologize profusely for this, but the background code has at this point become such a convoluted mess, what with many of the changes I've made over time to various aspects, that it is in MAJOR need of a revamp. The problem is, with the way switches and variables work in RPG Maker, this will utterly break a whole lot. Trying to load a prior save will, at this point, wreck your game.

To try and make up for this, there's two 'cheats' I'll be adding in with the update. The first will be one related to the two seasonal events (halloween and christmas ones). Because those events are over and it'll be some time before can redo them (without resorting to potentially game-breaking methods), I'll be adding a cheat that will allow the user to unlock one of the two possible endings as if they had been completed, as well as granting the reward item from halloween event. Doubt many people actually GOT that item, to be honest, since was meant to be hard to find, so fully expect people are just going to use this to cheat an item they failed to find. But that's their choice, so the hell :)

The other cheat will automatically add 24 days to the counter of completed requests automatically, allowing you to jump ahead and redo the story quests, as well as unlock Yorine's Lake, without having to grind. Yes, you'll still have to redo the actual quests, but no need to grind to unlock them in first place this way.

Once again, do apologize for this restart need, but its to make the game actually run properly, so can't really be avoided. This is my first RPG Maker game, so there was always a good chance of something going wrong somewhere. In future, hopefully this new build will allow me to make changes and improvements far more easily, as well as fix ongoing bugs.

As a side addition to this post, I'll also give a heads up about the content of 0.08. This update will finally include the quest I've been trying to get out for several updates for Caitlin, as well as the new story quest that'll unlock the next region (though the region itself will not be included until the next update). This quest will see you travel to another of Devour Village's rings and join the Adventurer's Guild, requiring an unexpected team-up with Kina. There will also be a new repeatable scene for those who complete Aurine's quest with the best ending, with some variations. Adding this because I was always bothered by the lack of scenes in that quest. This IS a vore game, after all.

Re: Vore Vendor - 0.08 : Adventure and Revival (9/4/24)

Postby ShadowsSong » Tue Apr 09, 2024 4:17 pm

Update 0.08 : Adventure and Revival -
This update has honestly taken far too long to bring together, for a multitude of reasons. RL is giving me a great deal of grief, but a large part of delay getting this done was in the heavy work that needed doing on the game. It didn't help that the new main quest had some odd issues where enemies were coming out ludicrously overpowered for no apparent reason, despite having similar base stats to older enemies. The quest boss in particular required massive work to keep her from not only absolutely wiping the party in a single move, but being able to handle more damage than a god-tier enemy. Still no idea what caused them to be like that, but eventually got it to a managable level.
Because there's a lot to cover, I'm going to break this post up a bit.

REWORK / NEW SAVE NEEDED -
As mentioned in my main post, I've had to completely rework the switches, variables and other background content to keep it from becoming a disastrous mess. And this unfortunately means a fresh save will be necessary. Attempting to load older saves will result in your save being a broken mess that will not be playable, flat out. Thankfully this will mean the game will be a lot easier to modify in future, and won't be as prone to bugs. Admittedly there might be a few bugs hanging about as a result of these changes - do let me know if you find any - but overall the game's in a lot better a state now than it was before.
Because of the hassle of needing to start over, combined with the loss of the rewards from the two seasonal events that won't be available again until the end of the year, I've added three cheats to help recover progress. Interact with the fireplace in Lissi's room and you use the code 'BlackBook' to recieve a book that will transport you to a cheat zone.
The first cheat will boost your 'completed requests' to 12, allowing the unlock of most of the existing quests (though remember a lot of quests have requirements based on main story progression too). For anyone familiar with this game, the total requests required to unlock new quests has been heavily cut in this rework to cut down on grind. Noticed it was becoming an issue when I realised the pace I'd set for increase in requirements exceeded 30 requests for new content. This cheat will also give you 3000g to help cover any gear you need in repeating quests.
The second and third cheats will allow you to replay the Halloween and Christmas events, and get related rewards, despite being out of season, and won't lock you out of playing them this year when that time comes around again.
Note that each cheat can only be used once. Once used, the cheat will be locked. These will also be removed at a later date, likely in the time coming up to Halloween.
Apologies again to old players for this restart. I'm aware its a hassle, but since it'll make the game way better, hope you can bear with it.

NEW QUESTS -
There are three new quests in this update, though one can only be partially completed at the moment. The first is the main quest in which you'll undertake the trial to join the Adventurer's Guild with the aid of Kina, as well as Rosa if unlocked, which will not only allow you access to the Storm's Eye zone in the next update, but (also in next update) unlock the ability to complete jobs through the guild as an alternate means of earning gold. This quest also brings a lot of background lore details to light.
The second quest is the quest for Caitlin I've been working on for way too long now. Though the quest was easy enough to complete, her heavy amount of content post-quest ended up being pretty heavy, with two sex scenes and three vore, as well as a side scene that occasionally appears post-quest. This new quest, obtained by talking to Freya, allows you to unlock these new scenes with Caitlin, as well as unlocking her as a potential party member.
The third quest, the not-yet-finished one, involves one of the new NPCs I've added to the village. By taking on this quest, you'll unlock a new potential solution to a quest to be added in a couple of updates' time. Originally I wasn't going to add them yet, but I felt it'd be better to add her early so they didn't just appear out of nowhere later.

MINOR CONTENT -
There's also a fair bit of minor content in this update. For one thing, a number of new villagers have been added to Devour Village, non-humans. Since most of the villagers before now were human, or very close to, I decided to add a bit of variety to better fit with the game's lore.
The Halloween event item has also been added as a trophy to Lissi's house, with related ghost events.
Also, because of the lack of vore content in her quest, I've added a series of scenes that can be seen by players who got the best ending to Aurine's quest. They are all started in the same way, with a 1 in 10 chance of them being available on any given in-game day by talking to Aurine. There are three different possible scenes (involving three different preysluts) that can be seen, with them being chosen at random when the event is triggered. The chance of event occuring is low, I'm aware, but I didn't want it to be too common so that it a) didn't make sense and b) got in the way of base content by occuring too often.

STATISTICS AND ROSA'S GEAR -
One of the longtime issues with Rosa as a party member is she's pretty much made of glass. The ability available by completing Aurine's quest helps somewhat, but to boost her up a bit, I've got around to creating unique gear for her. It's pretty weak at present, but will be upgradable through later quests.
Weapons in general have also been modified. The main purpose in different times before now has been the different skills, but little beyond that. To remedy this, I've added stat boosts from different weapon types. For example, swords give a slight defense boost, whereas bows grant bonus crit chance. Hopefully this will make weapon choice a bit more interesting.
I've also boosted the target rate of tank-type classes (warrior and holy knight) to make them better tanks. This only affects Megan and Shel at present, but will apply to others in future.

OTHER -
There's a fair bit of other changes and additions, but I'm not going to list it all here. That's what the changelog is for :D Overall, the game does seem in a much better state now though, so hopefully it'll be more enjoyable for players. If anyone does encounter any bugs - likely, given the amount of changes and the fact I can't test EVERYTHING - do mention them so I can try and solve the issues.

Overall, glad to finally have this out, and hope people enjoy it. The next update will introduce the Storm's Eye, related new meat girls and requests, as well as the introduction of Guild Quests.

Sorry for this, was one of the issues with rework. Missed this one due to me using the progress cheat so didn't need to sleep. Will fix later today since currently out for medical reasons. If you wish to continue in meantime, using the progress cheat will give you access to most content without sleeping (only need to interact with bed for things like the lake unlock, and I've tested that). Did at least test sleeping post mermaid quest, so should work after yorines Lake unlocked.

Sorry for mess, but as said, can't test everything so some things have slipped through cracks >..>

I have the version that fixes the sleep bug and it works perfectly ^^
But I had another soft lock of the same style when I spoke to the tomb which is located at the top right of the church.
Then, I'm supposed to have unlocked a new area, but I may have glitched the game :/ when my mother came to tell me about it, she gave me the 400 golds, but afterward I didn't go to sleep. I went straight out of my room which started the scene of my aunt's arrival. and then... Well, impossible to find the entrance to this new area and the quest table remains stuck on the green slimes :/

The entrance to that new area is the well in front of your home. You should be able to interact with the well and go down. The next time you sleep the requests should update to include targets from the new area.

Thanks for heads up about grave, will fix. Though since its only used for credits, wouldn't worry about it - just avoid using it for time being.
When Nora tells you about area, she tells you where to find it, so guess you skipped through the text :) As Erecant said, just interact with the well outside, the one which girl is standing next to. Request board only resets on sleep or when you finish quests, so new quests won't show up until you do.
Shel's arrival is triggered by having enough total requests completed after unlocking Lake zone, so won't affect anything. You just had enough requests completed when left room to trigger it directly after zone unlock scene.

EDIT : Okay, should be fixed now. Also added a minor change where some of the generic guards have been replaced with custom female guards to better fit in with world lore. Was something meant for 0.09, but since was already done thought I'd add it in now.

Re: Vore Vendor - 0.09 : Storm's Eye (30/7/24)

Postby ShadowsSong » Tue Jul 30, 2024 10:49 am

UPDATE 0.09 - STORM'S EYE :
I admit, this update's taken far longer than it should have for the amount of content. Between continued life issues, a mostly-depression-related lack of motivation to work on this, and a mess of mechnical issues with building the new content, things have dragged out far longer than intended. I'd hoped to flesh out the guild requests system a little more than I have, but at this point I just want to have a workable version out.

The new zone, the Storm's Eye, is a gloomy, mutated forest that lies in the centre of the four rings that make up Devour Village. Lightning strikes are frequent here (try not to get hit!), and dangerous creatures roam the area - wild wolves, imps and even the occasional naga. Whilst a dangerous area, the creatures from it will offer more money than ever for Lissi's business. This new zone's encounters may undergo some balance changes in near future, because had some problems with getting the encounters to be managable - for some reason, similar to some of the encounters in the guild joining quest, the enemies were coming out with HP and DEF so absurdly high that killing them was an utter chore, and the imp's spells were one-shotting party members. That's all been fixed, thankfully, but they'll still need some adjustment.

Eclair is now also offering requests for the Adventurer's Guild. These are meant as small radiant quests to give a bit of extra cash, so the rewards aren't particularly high and you can only take on one randomized quest at a time, but they should allow people who are struggling to pay off the daily cost to get by (though honestly, that shouldn't really be a problem at present... still, nice to have a precaution against it). Though there's only one event related to it at the moment, in future updates I'll be adding more interactions with Eclair and the guild as you complete more requests, essentially making it a side quest chain that you can choose whether to play or ignore at will. It may link into the main story at points, but will be largely seperate.

As a warning, due to the complicated mess that getting said quests working became, there may be issues with them. I've tested all the quests extensively, so there shouldn't be any issues completing them, but do let me know if there are issues. Unfortunately I had to overhaul the system I was using twice, since the original setup wasn't actually counting the last enemy killed towards kill counters due to RPG Maker ending all related events when a battle is won, and the second system I used ended up trying to count quest objectives as complete several times despite having switch blocks (still not sure why that happened, but worked around it in end).

Beyond that, most of the stuff in this update is minor changes or bug fixes. The next update, 0.10, was intended to include a major system I've wanted to add for a long time, but I think I'm gonna hold off on that until the update after as it's liable to be a HUGE timesink. Instead, 0.10 will focus on the leadup to that system, as well as a couple of side quests, and hopefully some more Adventurer's Guild story content. I still haven't decided for sure which characters the side quests will be for yet, but I'm hoping to give some time to a couple of the more ignored characters - likely Siri and Valerie.

Sorry for that, is a leftover issue from when I did the rework of the background content. Re-organized the files, so it's looking for the original name of the file rather than the renamed one. Had a few of these pop up at time, but this one's slipped through cracks, likely because there's a way around it.

Will obviously fix this shortly, though will likely be tomorrow since out today. In meantime, just avoid killing the grunt until Cilrine is defeated, as that scene causing the issue is only triggered whilst she's still in the fight. Likely people didn't notice this before due to the fight mechanics basically requiring you to defeat her first anyway.
