Interactive Click Adventure: The Wizard's Reward

Postby Akajama » Thu Aug 03, 2023 4:25 am

Hello everyone. I've been gaining some experience with Stable Diffusion for a long time and got an idea. I've wanted to design a Vore game for a long time and now I want to try it out by using Stable Diffusion and Unity.

However, what works quite well with Stable Diffusion encounters serious obstacles with Unity. I neither master scripts nor do I have the ability to understand the C+ language. Attempting to learn these mechanisms through self-study almost resulted in the project being abandoned due to frustration. Therefore, the focus of my project is currently on design planning and story/quest creation. But I hope that later I will find someone who knows Unity well and can help me to implement this game project.

This game isn't that complicated. It's about an adventuress finding a magical item and wanting to bring it to a magician who will then give her a reward.... quite a simple story. But the way to the wizard is far longer than you think. He lives at the very end of a labyrinth-like canyon in which countless creatures live, smaller camps or huge fortresses are builded and many events and tasks are scattered. So the game is about getting from one situation to the next with a few clicks, finding the right way in the canyon (Other environments are accessible via corridors, portals or hiding places), collecting things, helping people or earning money.... and above all not getting eaten. It's a Vore game of course. :gulp:

So far I've designed the basic structure and the first encounter event with which I want to create further events and quests. Of course, here are the initial pictures of the project and things can still change with pictures and arangement of the designe. In addition, some English language errors will creep in, since this is not my main language. Also a reason why I want to create a game in which there are no gigantic discussions between characters.

Here are some pictures of the prototype:

Ths is the Main Menu

Here you can choose the adventurer

This is the starting point of the canyon

And this is the first game over

More pictures and how the first game over came about can be found here on Deviantart:

I hope I could arouse your curiosity. I would be happy to receive feedback, your opinions or suggestions for ideas.

Have you considered using something like renpy instead of unity?

definitely spotting the design parrallels from the 3 classes which I can only guess is on purpose: warrior shares most of the design cues of Casca from Berserk, mage is identical to Sypha from Castlevania(netflix anime version), and the archer fittingly High Elf Archer from Goblin Slayer. So I take it you're quite fond of grimdark anime are ya?

The game sound interesting.

Here some questions:

The player can be a pred?( I kinda really want to give a nice full belly to that archer.)

There would be a puzzlez? Like for example put certain item on certain area to get a reward is unlock a secret passage or setting up things for a specific encounter with a pred in a certain scenario which could allow the player escaythat encounter.

There also could be endo stuff?(like for example an ending where the player is trapped in the belly of a pred that doesn't want to digest or being eaten in an unavoidable encounter but luckily the preds stomach isn't strong enough so the player can interact with the insides looking for a way to escape)

The warrior looks like Casca from Berserk and the mage looks like Sypha from Castlevania.

Do like the thing you're going for here.

Have you considered using something like renpy instead of unity?
Yes I have. Other programs had certain limitations that I didn't like or made designing difficult for me. I initially thought of Renpy as an alternative, but the tutorials on Youtube melted my brain like Unity scripting.

I'm a general anime fan and for the projekt I needed simple characters which visually embody what I am looking for. That's why I also use the Lore models for Stable Diffusion to make image generation easier for me. Maybe over time I'll get my own characters that don't look drastically different from picture to picture.

The player can be a pred?
The playable adventurers are mainly prey oriented. But since magic is involved, the player can temporarily become a pred with a special potion. I'm currently designing the first encounter with the potion witch, who often appears in the canyon as one of the important dealers.

There would be a puzzlez?

Yes...Sometimes certain things have to be done or certain items have to be present in the bag to progress to events or to reach places. For example, a shrinking potion can be very useful for escaping a cage... but only if you have it with you. Even the adventurers play a role. For example, the warrior cannot read a tablet with magical runes, but the magician can read the text there and thus easily find the solution. Also for example, at the event with the wolfgirl: the warrior has defeated her opponent with her strength, but the archer would have been defeated because of the close combat.

There also could be endo stuff?
There are quests where the player actually ends up in a belly, but the game doesn't end there. An anti-digestion potion plays sometimes an important role in this situation. However, this potion cannot be bought from the dealers, otherwise I would have to lengthen each individual vore-end.
In addition, there would also be the possibility of changing the mind of the pred who just ate the player. Of course only possible with certain preds.

If you need help learning how to use Renpy I made a tutrial game that walks you through the basics. You can also ask me if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them ;)

It's hard to give feedback without a playable game.
I'd like for the preds to be female and the preys to male, and that's pretty much all I can say until I'm playing it.

This looks promising. The art assets you've got here look great, my only concern is the issues you've outlined with turning it into a playable game.

Realistically you're not going to find many programs that are more user friendly or easy to learn than something like Renpy or Unity. If you've got a basic understanding of programming concepts, you should be able to learn to script enough in either to get a (mechanically) simple game like this to work. With enough time and effort, anyone even without much programming experience should be capable of learning either of those. If you are having issues with understanding how to do that, my advice would be to look into Unity Visual scripting (https://unity.com/features/unity-visual-scripting) as I know some people find that easier to understand. Failing that, if you're still struggling I would advise looking for a programmer to assist you.

I've got experience with basic Unity programming, and can help give you some pointers to get started if you like. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. And good luck!

PS. You could also turn this into an interactive story just by creating more screens like this, sort of like what people have done in the past with photo-manips, like KNT's old one: viewtopic.php?f=88&t=27868

Thank you very much for the offer. But I was lucky that someone who is familiar with Unity contacted me recently and offer to helpe me. Together we will implement this project.

If you are having issues with understanding how to do that, my advice would be to look into Unity Visual scripting (https://unity.com/features/unity-visual-scripting) as I know some people find that easier to understand.
Thank you for your advice. It looks very helpful.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
And another thank you for the offer. :D

...the game isnt ready yet? its in development?
The game is still in development. But by working with a programmer I can say that the demo will come faster than I ibitially thought.
