[F/F, F/M] New Pred in Town (v0.0.3 updated 12/11/24)

Update 12/11/2024: Want to support the development of New Pred in Town and gain access to biweekly private updates, plus a dedicated Discord community? Check out our SubscribeStar.adult page!

Each year, world-famous author - and notorious predator - K. M. Lyons chooses six aspiring novelists to receive a personal mentorship. The catch? At the end of the year, she plans to swallow and digest the student who has written the least excellent novel. Young predator Liz Newcomb has spent years dreaming of this opportunity, but now that it's hers... will she be able to put down roots in the big city, bring her novel up to Lyons' standards, and survive the intensifying 21st-century vore crisis?

Image

After two years of work, the first public alpha of New Pred in Town is ready! NPiT envisions a new type of vore game: polished to industry standards, deeply character-driven, taking place in a world where culture has realistically adapted to the existence of vore. Over the course of the story Liz will grapple with issues of purpose and community, find her place in an increasingly uncertain world... and do her best to avoid being digested by more dangerous predators!

Image

New Pred in Town features deckbuilder/card battler gameplay. Prey characters must struggle to inflict nausea on predators before they are digested - while the predator does her best to restrain her prey, massage away nausea, or burp up precious oxygen. Clever combinations of techniques, and taking advantage of the direction the prey is facing, may be the difference between life and death!

Image

After every prey Liz digests, and every stomach she escapes, she improves one of her techniques and learns one of her opponent's. By the end of the year, Liz may well become one of the most dangerous preds around! Following a successful predation, the game also tracks the details of digestion - including characters' short- and long-term weight gain.

Image

Of course, vore is hardly the only interesting part of Liz's life. Over the course of the year, she'll meet fascinating people, find hobbies, and maybe even fall in love. No one Liz meets is a one-dimensional caricature or a sex object, and the choices Liz makes can have dramatic consequences for their lives - or simply end them! The game tracks Liz's relationships with characters and what secrets she's learned. Sometimes the right ally, or the right information, will make all the difference.

Image

New Pred in Town takes place on the Voreside - a parallel universe where human evolution went just a bit differently. All women are biologically capable of vore, but most go a whole lifetime without digesting another person. Those who do are not treated as criminals but something else entirely - the predator is a complicated figure in society, both huntress and hunted. She is her community's defense against scum and villainy, yet the last person they will stand up for should she run afoul of a more dangerous predator.

At least, that's how things were supposed to work. In the modern world, as social taboos fray and more young women choose predation, the 21st-Century Vore Crisis has begun to spiral out of control...

If you're curious to know about a particular topic - cultural, biological, or otherwise - the game contains over fifty encyclopedia pages hyperlinked in the text.

Image

Featuring a hand-drawn UI, twelve professionally composed music tracks, and a roguelike Endless Mode, New Pred in Town was a joy to put together, and there's so much more to come! The current alpha covers about 60% of the writing (and six out of the fourteen vore scenes) for the first in-game day. It'll take a few years for the project to expand into its full scope. I'm currently planning four weeks of gameplay, one for each season - plus a to-be-determined number of standalone days to cover holidays and other important events in Liz's year.

You probably want the download links at some point, huh? Well, here they are. I hope you have as much fun playing New Pred in Town as I'm having writing it!

Frequently Asked Questions (please read before posting)

What content does this game include by default?
Spoiler: show
New Pred in Town features F/F and F/M oral vore, including scenes where the predator swallows two prey. If the prey cannot escape, digestion is fatal. Intimate encounters with both sexes will be available later in the game.

Any optional content?
Spoiler: show
You'll be asked upon starting the game whether you want to enable optional content, and can later change those answers from the settings menu. Optional content includes anal vore, unbirth, bones and other gruesome digestion, scat disposal, and lactation. There will also be occasional stuffing scenes later in the game, but these can be easily avoided.

Are you planning to add (insert other fetish here) content?
Spoiler: show
Nope.

Which scenes are currently in the game?
Spoiler: show
At the moment, the public version contains six playable vore scenes: three pred and three prey.
  • Liz/Helen
  • Noriko/Liz
  • Molly/Liz
  • Liz/Maya
  • Liz/Brooke
  • Madeline/Liz+Brooke (double)

That looks like a lot of reading.
Spoiler: show
That wasn't a question, Mr. Strawman. But, yes, the game is designed around its story, and there's rather a lot of that. If you'd like to get straight to the vore scenes, Endless Mode is probably more your style.

What about your previous project?
Spoiler: show
It's not coming back. Next question.

Mobile version? Pretty please?
Spoiler: show
Honestly, probably not. The text in this game isn't very mobile-friendly, and it'd be a major undertaking to maintain a separate UI.

Does this game include assets created with generative AI?
Spoiler: show
Yes. Every effort has been made to include human-created art when possible, including commissioning an original soundtrack and hand-drawn UI. AI was used to generate assets which human artists either cannot (character photographs) or were not interested in doing on commission (backgrounds).

This is an alpha build - how janky is it?
Spoiler: show
The jank is limited to some aspects of Endless Mode. Only characters whose scenes appear in the story (or will appear in the near future) are fully animated, and cards in other characters' decks may be using placeholder art. Otherwise, things are pretty polished!

How do I report a bug?
Spoiler: show
For now, the best place is right in this thread. That's subject to change when the question below does.

I'm an artist who drew your characters. Can I get my work in-game?
Spoiler: show
Probably! There are some basic quality standards, and I won't accept any work involving your OCs or fetishes that aren't in the game, but the engine already supports displaying images during scenes. I'd love to have the game's interesting moments represented by a variety of community art styles!

It's really awesome to see this finally go public after all the time it's spent in closed Alpha! Major congratulations for all you've managed to achieve with it so far, and I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

Hi there! I have spent quite probably a hundred+ hours breaking and replaying this game (I'm Kitalya on the Discord) and this is one of the most well polished and balanced vore card games I have ever encountered. It is a delightful story thus far, with a good number of branches to poke already. The endless mode is wonderfully fun though, letting you actually test out lots of different builds as you continue through waves of tasty tasty victims, some of which make the mistake of trying to eat you for some strange reason. No idea what that's about. Looking forward to more victims and story progression as this continues to develop!

Holy shit, you’re back! Had to pinch myself, to be honest, but I’m very glad it’s real! This looks like a pretty massive undertaking, but based off of what’s said here looks like there is a substantial amount of content in the Alpha. I saw endless mode on the UI, but I’m excitingly surprised that it is already in, along with story mode. Probably most excited for the prospect of deep lore and world building, since I often enjoy those, and it’s always nice to see in the context of Vore. Appreciate that it looks like disposal hasn’t been forgotten as well! Looking forward to really getting down to explore the Alpha build later today!

I started the game, then tried to get out of windowed mode in the settings and change the resolution. Now it registers the cursor clicking somewhere slightly above where it actually is, so I tried to get it back into full-screen mode (as best I could with the cursor being fucked), but when I did it just stretched the tiny version to the full screen, nowhere near the visual quality it was before. I deleted the game and unzipped the zip file again, but it's still broken.

I just deleted all files pertaining to the game, then reinstalled it from MEGA. It's still broken.

Also every time I open the damn thing my Chrome windows shrink down to the size of a chicken nugget.

I am encountering the exact same problem. Also if I go into the fitness menu it is oversized compared to the window and I have no way to reach the exit button and have to restart the game.

Loving the game though! hopefully these issues get worked out soon

That's odd, do you see any error messages in your Player.log file (found in C:/Users/(username)/AppData/LocalLow/Annunaki Games/New Pred in Town)? Are you using monitors with an unusual resolution or refresh rate? This isn't the first time something like this has happened during testing, but I thought we'd squashed that bug a year ago.

Unfortunately Unity stores resolution settings in the Windows Registry, which is a terrible idea for a bunch of reasons. One of which being, unless you feel comfortable editing that, reinstalling the game can't fix this and I'll have to push a hotfix that checks for and fixes the issue on launch. Just as soon as I figure out what's going wrong.

For anyone who hasn't had this issue yet, I'd suggest not touching windowed mode for the moment.

Hey ho! New promising game just dropped and I've had a chance to give it a small run! So far I really dig what you're doing, and it's especially rare to see a game drop with a pretty significant amount of stuff to do right from the get go. Good on ya for that! The card game system is something that's new to me, since I know the inspiration but have never actually played anything resembling em... The system is pretty intuitive and there's a lot of clarity on demand without having to search for things or wonder why they're happening. Honestly the gameplay presentation is incredibly solid and I could see myself playing it for a while to try and optimize it or see what's going down. I haven't played enough quite yet to see if there's anything that's overpowered or cheap to face, but that's an inevitability to discover when ya wanna prio the thirst!

Lots of forethought put into the world building and let's just say 'lore' of game. Having hyperlinks to the terminology is certainly an interesting choice - I don't have any strong opinions of it since a lot of it speaks for itself after the first usage. I haven't had any resolutions problems up above, but it could be something to do with it only listing 1920x1080, and that may be causing some issue. Honestly I wish I had a way to window the game further but it's not really a big issue, and can easily be fixed up.

Now some of the things that came up the second I started playing was the font choice. I get that there's a literary motif to the UI and the game itself, but I think the font is a distraction rather than a bonus to the immersion. Especially in a game that seems like it's going to have a lot of text, and the only options so far are to change its speed and its size. I honestly wouldn't mind if there was a 'basic' font option that's simpler to read since otherwise it's pretty easy to gloss over the text. Something I really have to bring up to is the portraits--NOW, AI is always gonna be a controversial subject no matter what, and personally, I'm not a fan but I think it's okay to use in this kind of manner to shore up anything that is missing. That said: The realistic art style used for their generation clashes so hard with the game's aesthetic and character appearances that it almost sucked me outta the scene right then and there. It is your choice fundamentally, but I'm curious as to why that was the choice that was made rather than even going for an anime-esque appearance to better match the Kiskekae characters, or not just using their headshots for the sake of the portraits. The backgrounds though - I think they're fine.

Big post, and I know the critical paragraph was the longest one, but those are small issues in an otherwise promising package! Please keep going at it and you've got something special brewing 'ere for sure!

For those who've had their games bricked by the graphics setting, try downloading this hotfix: https://mega.nz/file/PBYiRBgb#LjR23QB61 ... qJ_wj5valI
You'll want to navigate to "New Pred in Town_Data/Managed" and overwrite the old Assembly-CSharp.dll with this file. If it works it should reset your graphics settings on launch.

(Huzzah for launch day bugs, every developer's favorite!)

Thanks for the feedback! This seems doable enough if the font is causing players eyestrain. I'll have to find one that's guaranteed to take less space than the current font, since the sizing already tends to ride the limit of what fits onscreen.

Controversial statement: I'm not a fan of the anime art style, and it's a crying shame that in 2024 Kisekae is still the easiest way to batch-produce the character sprites I need. If I could do the whole game in a realistic style, I would (more on that at a later date). For now, the portraits are meant to be a reminder that these characters are actual human women, and not some kind of bug-eyed anime creature. =P

There's too much difference between the portrait and the sprites's styles, and it's uncomfortable to look at. Wish there were more flat style portraits to choose from

Hate to say it, but I agree.. either keep the anime paperdolls and switch the artstyle to be more in line with that, or ditch the anime paperdolls and switch to a more realistic aesthetic. The clash is really off-putting.

I've solved it.
Open Registry Editor (type regedit in the Start menu's search bar).
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Anunnaki Games\New Pred in Town.
From there, just delete the stuff related to the resolution (you might have to resize parts of the window until it's wide enough to display the full names).

If you want a more realistic style and an easy quick way to make character images, I recommend Honey Select 2 or Room Girl (the latter is newer, though I'm not sure if it has as many character creation mods). They have extremely good character creation and come with a studio that lets you pose them, animate them with a mod and take screenshots of them. Taking a screenshot without a map loaded is a transparent png just like in Kisekae when selecting that option.

Though I definitely agree it's a controversial statement to not like the anime style. Pretty much every realistic style I've seen in vore and porn games in general ends up being very uncanny, cause the physics tend to clash hard with the realistic images, but it's your decision after all.
