Forum rules
Don't ask about updates. If there is an update, it will simply be posted. If someone is committing to a timeline, they will just tell you the timeline without needing anyone to ask.

Use Looking for master thread when you are not posting about an existing game.

You use this forum and website at your own risk for all links and uploads. There is no quality control or malware scanning or testing done here. Proceed with caution and use a virtual machine (VM) for any uploads strongly recommended. Virus/malware scanners alone are generally not good enough.

hopefully this'll fix it. I probably should of tested that tweak more but I wanted to exclude certain resources from the combat view like algae. While someone is lobbing death projectiles at your space craft you probably don't care you many nutritious breakfast bars the cultivator can dispense at the time.

Attempting to Interact with a defeated Trader gives no options, and attempting to interact with the items they drop crashes the game.

could be a lack of support for openGL 3.3

use opengl extension viewer to see what degree of openGL support you have. You're on windows so this isn't the 'not tested here' problem.

edit: new version
https://www.dropbox.com/s/8dek8idy328l6iv/Nomad%20alpha%20254B.zip?dl=0

comes with fixes to talharan traders and HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL UI IMPROVEMENTS. This may have resulted in bugs with the UI. You have been warned.

Well..... The UI is nice.... But I can't interact with chest and empty ship panel... To be precise I CAN enter in the chest / empty panel interface, I CAN select option inside but I CAN'T finish the action (taking / putting item in or out the chest, putting module in the empty panel) or exiting the interface... And I can't create a really new save. It won't create a new save, BUT it can overwrite an old save.

Just to be sure I reinstalled the 25.4A version and all of the above work right for me.
Legally it's questionable.
Morally it's disgusting.
Personally I love it.

thanks for finding these. the reason for the problem is that now all buttons need to have update calls run on them so they can do timed behaviour, the clicking/unclicking and the slight delay for their effects to occur.

and there was basically no way i was going to get complete coverage and not miss them somewhere leaving some buttons inert.

Mainly I wanted to put this one out to get some feedback and opinions on the attempt to try and make nomad's ui look..well, like actual effort was involved in the presentation beyond raw harsh functionality.

Update to fix this will come tomorrow.

playing 25D and everything was going great until I got to brightfeather, she doesn't have an option to teach unbirth, and more importantly there is no way back off the mountain, the exit is on an island you cant walk to.

first is probably cause you don't have the necessary plumbing. second...it's rarely possible for the cave algorithm used for the mountain top to break...back up to before it was generated maybe. I'll attempt to add some more checks to prevent this, but I give no guarantees.

also update to fix the ui issues reported by DB1224

Finnally back after a week long ban for something I did several months ago. Haven't been able to comment but I've been able to play.

And I have some Doosies of bug reports.

Sucessfully researching the Mushroom Queen causes the game to crash. If its unsucessful it will tell you as much, but when you (I assume) sucessfully researcher her, the game instantly crashes as soon as you hit the research button.

Also in regards to her, when feeding your self to her(not surrendering) it used to cause some kind of crash or freeze, but I just went back to actually check what the exact problem was, and now interacting with her at all results in a blank interaction screen with nothing to click on, locking up the game.

Surrendering to the normal villagers in the elf village locks up the game as well.

Surrendering to the Elf Priestes causes the guards to attack you.

I lucked out and found 2 Citrullus Mammatus, and a Bounce in the Underground complex. This revealed some glitches or some incomplete functions.

Using the First Citrullus gave my character E cups. Using the seccond resulted in it stating

"Text Text Text Tex Tex Text Text Text Text"

And no change to my characters appearance. Breasts still E-Cups, and still 6 inches.

I saved before using the second one though to keep testing it, and I discovered is that if there is something in the current log, it will just repeat the most recent log instead of the text text thing.

IE "The Arkosaurus failed to headbutt Zin."

Using the Bounce resulted in my character gaining a rounded butt, despite already having one.

I do believe there were a few others, but I don't remember thing. Sure I will annoy you with them at some point though.

the war against the bugs never ends. and the bugs caused by the ui improvement seem to be a font of such things.

Woh. Thats a new look.

Already found a but though. In the appearance section the text can run off the screen.

Also while Citrullus Mamaltus now will increase your bust size, Bounce still leaves those with already rounded assets, with only rounded asses.

And the game is still crashing upon a sucessfull research of the Mushroom Mother.

By the by, I was thinking giving the palyer a One word self written description of their character, would really help players make the character feel their own...

IE there would be a surrounding phrase like "You have a _____ look about you." And allow the player to fill in the blank.

Like "You have a Vicious look about you." or "You have a Terrified look about you." or "You have a Stern look about you."

Perhaps even a end result line "Like a ____" "Like an Wild Animal/Pathetic Mouse/School Teacher."

How do you get the kitty pirates to spawn? I've done just about everything there is to do and no spawn on the most recent update :(

new look is indeed new, hopefully people will appreciate it.

And.. no crash error.log, no interest in fixing it from me I'm afraid. So if you want this mushroom mother stuff fixed. error.log.

as for the description...hmm, interesting notion. Not sure if it's something people'd use but maybe I'll put that as a poll. Do people want to be able to enter disposition data on their description.

In theory they should show up if you visit the SE and E starsystems (as viewed from the starting system) but I haven't TESTED that's the case. the spawning system draft 2 is in place but untested (Due to rl and such) also there's currently not really anything else in those systems yet except a chance to be attacked by spacepirates.

also, the pirates aren't finished. their seduced scenes aren't done.

useless for tracking down one particular class of bugs, a while back. Not useless in general. for instance this one let me know what i needed to fix this one.

also "I was the description part would be in the Character creation" ??
what are you trying to say?

You said you thought people might not use a character description. If it was in the create a character, wouldn't it have to get used if they were starting fresh?

EDIT.

Oh. That was supposed to be "I was thinking" not "I was the"

Edit

I also just noticed this, but the window for the game needs to be resized now. The weight my character is carrying is now behind the Task Bar, so I cant read it.

Pluss I just tested it again, and surrendering to the priestess still causes the guards to attack you, and surrendering to the townsfolk still gives you no dialogue options so the game locks up. The same things happen if a Villager defeats you in combat.

Attempting to shop from the Space Salesman again caused the game to crash.

I can confirm that the Mushroom mother is now functional, and that surrendering does not cause guards to attack.

Unfortunately I have discovered new bugs.

The dammath storekeeper now crashes upon any interaction. Trying to select Mine dialogue or sale dialogue results in a crash.

I defeated the Serpent before ever aquiring the mission to do so. That could be the cause.

This is the code I get for the other dialogue option

Also does picking Lactation do anything at this point?

It doesn't seem to have given my character any new abilities in the Other catagory, and I don't assume it's usefull for much else outside of self sustainment.

Also the Saurian girl who wants to be a mother seems perplexingly missing.

1. nope, slayerhero added it, I let it stay cause it means i get to keep a shiny encyclopedia entry, and I assume they'll do something with it at some point.

2. It's possible for the game to occasionally cover her spawn point with a wall as she spawns on the NE edge of the saurian village landing pad.

3. also the issue with the shopkeeper is cause I swapped them to having primitive steaks instead of salads. but i didn't match it in the shop. if you want to spot fix just go to the shop list and change the reference to primal steak to primitive steak.

I'll put out release H when I have more bug fixes to put in it.

4. also did you know you can change the size of the game window by editing the assets/config.txt file
Code: Select all
screenscale
0.8

change the 0.8 to whatever then start the game.

Specimen containment is a trap now, I can interact with it but I can't do anythingsuch as synch or exit, forcing me to reopen the whole game. The error file is empty though.
