I prefer male preds because they're usually larger and stronger and the stereotype that guys are naturally violent and not caring/gentle is one I enjoy breaking. Plus it's like the exact opposite of my preferred prey (female children) and to me there's nothing quite as endearing and sweet as a large, but gentle humanoid (but not quite human) man keeping a little human orphan safe and sound in his tummy.

Hugs are also less awkward and does not introduce a face full of boob. Deeper voices too, which is very soothing to the prey, rumbling around them in his belly.

I'm also highly interested in why people like preds of a certain gender. I know the easy answer is 'it matches my sexual and/or romantic preferences irl'

And that would be exactly why I like female preds and female preds alone. Some people seem to be mystified by the idea that my fetish involves my sexual preferences, but there you are.

I like male preds only. Because I`m a girl who likes guys, I suppose that`s to be expected, but the idea of being toyed with and potentially devoured by an attractive giant male is just a super-hot concept to me.

I write, and roleplay a lot, with female predators, but I think that's honestly just because it's the preference that those around me have. Sure, I'm a straight male and therefore lean towards female preds SLIGHTLY, but for the most part I do find male preds pretty sweet too.
Honestly, for me, as long as they're teasing and both sides are willing, vore is vore as far as I'm concerned!

It turns out that pretending to like boys for most of your life gives you some pretty strong, negative feeling toward the idea of being intimate with them. Trying to cross the streams only insults my sensibilities, ...not that the... poll... even acknowledges the existence of herms and all that stuff. But y'know, just because the poll is questionably complete doesn't mean my response has to be. |D

So really, it's just girls. But then it gets a little complicated.

I like the idea of a persistent, believable world for my characters and vore to be in. And y'know what else bugs me? The boys conveniently deciding never to try and eat anyone. As much as I'm not attracted to them and don't get much from the idea of them eating people, it's a little jarring to me when only cute girls ever make the attempt. So at the end of the day, they contribute to my enjoyment in an indirect sort of way?

depends on the intent of the piece in question/why i'm viewing it:

if identifying with the pred role, male because it aligns with my gender.
if observing with the pred as the object of attraction, female because it aligns with my sexual orientation.
if observing with the prey as the object of attraction, it doesn't matter much but usually ?/neither or not fully shown/non-humanoid because this puts focus on the prey.
if observing with vore itself as the only object of attraction, then it's pretty much a free-for-all as long as it doesn't involve my turn-offs.
and at no point am i identifying with the prey role, so i didn't include anything for that. :^P

these are my usual preferences; there are likely exceptions out there.

The poll is based on genders of preds, not their sex, just to keep things simple. If it was, of course I would include hermaphrodites/intersex preds but that's not really what I'm asking. I went with gender instead of sex as gender is much wider categorically and easier to understand - like some people are exclusively into trans girls and dick girls, but not into male preds in any way, shape or form - these preds are female by gender but male by sex. When it comes to herm characters you can't really instantly tell that unless they're androgenous - normally they align with either looking distinctly male or female in spite of having both sets of genitals. As I mentioned in the opening post, androgynous/non-binary preds would fall under the 'neither' category.

As someone who doesn't enjoy herms, I have to strongly disagree with the notion that trying to pass them off as being "male" or "female" makes things easier to understand. No one wants to specify they're into females and have a feminine herm approach them, or the reverse for that matter. If they wanted a herm, they'd simply say they liked herms. And so, to be clear and easy to understand, the poll should ideally follow suit. ...Not that you can actually help it now.

Within the context of sexual preferences and fantasies, it makes sense to communicate in terms of what you get off to rather than who you get off with--so ideally things should be kept simple first and then expanded to include things like gender identity if they're relevant to your own preferences.

I've personally got a bigger preference for females, but I'm happy with males if they're effeminate enough. But overall, I tend to lean more towards the female side. That goes for all porn really, not just vore.
